  1. The songs that have my toes a-tappin' lately ( they're not really new songs, but might be new to some of you ) are: The Killers - Mr. Brightside Anthrax - Safe Home Supersuckers - Goin' Back To Tucson Voivod - Gasmask Revival
  2. I say B just because second base has not been addressed. If KW can grab a decent 2B, it goes up to an A.
  3. He should have pulled the Wrigley Bleacher Switcheroo and pocketed the real ball if he wanted it so bad.
  4. Those are going to be the world's dullest induction speeches ever. Two of the blandest guys in the world - gotta hope for a couple Mike Schmidt moments to liven things up! heh.
  5. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) ...and the two years when every game i went to the White Sox won. Isn't that the BEST???? I only attended ONE White Sox loss last year, which is amazing to me since I went to about 3 or 4 5th-starter games! ( ...I luuuuuuuv the bullpen..... ) The flip side of that is AWFUL, though - I had a two-year stretch where the Blackhawks lost EVERY time I went to a game, and this is back when they were really good! That sucked ass!
  6. My favorite Comiskey moment was actually getting to play in Old Comiskey in 1973. Got my picture in the paper swinging at a ball WAAAAAAY over my head. I remember being really really nervous, even though only the players' parents and a few newspeople were there. A guy on my team ( 11 years old, mind you ) bashed one off the left-center field wall, admired his shot and almost got thrown out at second base. I'd have watched it, too....BELIEVE that. So as it happened, I struck out at Comiskey and also struck out at Wrigley......just like Sammy Sosa.....
  7. This turnaround on AJ reminds me a lot of when Bob "Cola" Probert joined the Blackhawks. HATED as a Red Wing, he became one of the more beloved Blackhawks ( although not by me, I still thought he was a prick ). I'm pretty confident that AJ will become a very well-liked member of the White Sox. His attitude will be welcomed by Ozzie, and AJ does seem determined to shed the cancer tag.
  8. Anybody up for a doomsday scenario? AJ has a great year, stands to gain a HUGE raise in arbitration, so the Sox non-tender him. .....I'm sorry.....
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) I am not going to be malicious in any way. I am just going to ask a fair question. Nothing wrong with that at all. I agree 100%. But it's also valid for others to be happy with the way the Sox are shaping up. I'm really not trying to be antagonistic, honestly. I was just speaking for myself, and I didn't mean to imply that your question or take on the Garcia trade was wrong in any way. If you took it that way, I'm really sorry.
  10. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Yeah, but Maggs went down like a month and a half after we traded for Garcia. When we traded for him we were contending. Yeah, sure, they're history shows nothing but folding, but if you really thought that they were done when they traded for Garcia, then I'd have to question the fact that you're a White Sox fan. I'm certainly not gonna go that far. I have no doubt that all the people on this site are good Sox fans - otherwise, they wouldn't waste their time posting here. If Aboz wants to take KW to the woodshed about Reed, that's absolutely his right. Reed is most likely gonna be a real good player for a real long time. Sure, it could fail to happen ( prime example I can think of is Joe Charbonneau for Cleveland ), but there's no real reason to believe that Reed won't excel. All I was saying is that I personally am happy with what the Sox have done, and I have nothing bad to say about or to KW right now. Get me a 2B and I'd be even happier....
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Let's play nice, folks. For the record, as a card carrying Classless Clown in good standing, I was not offended by that last remark. But if someone does offfend me, they're gonna get a BIG RED SHOE in the ass. But then, since you're classless, you're gonna high-tail it like a little b**** ( no offense intended to female dogs ) in your tiny little clown car....
  12. This is a VERY good move for the Cards. Grudzmgwsjnlfzdfzmvdf is a MUCH better hitter than Robbie Redbird at this point, and while not slick in the field, he's about as good as Alomar too. I wonder who their backup infielder is? Eckstein is gonna start at short and Grudz hasn't played SS in forever, so he's probably limited to 2B, as is Robbie.
  13. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) ah, come on everyone.. this is gonna be awsome! 42 views and not one responce... cant some of ya locals tell me some good spots to eat? cheep hotels? good bars? good things to do while im there? ive never been to chitown, help a brother out. peace -t ....Don't you get it??? We don't want you here....
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Don't worry, I've still got a few things planned, mainly centered around Jeremy Reed. In regards to this signing, I would like to see Davis traded now so that Burke can be kept on the roster to catch Buehrle. I'm done thinking about the Reed/Olivo for Freddy/Ben deal. What's done is done. Gotta give something to get something, and I'd rather have a good pitcher than a good outfielder. I have no problems with what KW has done this winter. He followed the organization's plans and got good players. Will it be enough? Maybe, maybe not, but I'm enthusiastic about this year's team, and I didn't think I would be. That's earned KW a pass from me this year.
  15. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) I certainly don't support his pedophile tendencies, but I will say he has given a lot to charity over the years. when it comes to things outside sex, he's a pretty decent human being. He needs some serious help. very very serious help. IF any of the allegations are true: You can't separate the criminal from the crime. And make NO mistake - this isn't sex, this is crime. A crime of a sexual nature, but crime nonetheless. I don't care of he gave every dollar he ever made to charity, if he did any of this to any of those kids, he is a f***ing monster and should be locked in a cage for a very very very long time. And I don't think he's an otherwise decent human being in any way - he's a really really weird guy who happens to have a talent for singing and dancing. I think a good case can be made that his parents helped f*** him up through intimidation and the stress of helping to support the family at too young an age, but he ( or any one of his multitude of managers, publicists, etc. ) should still be able to recognize that he's a completely messed-up soul and get him the help he needs. They should have done that a looooooooooooooooooooong time ago, but they don't get their percentage if Mike's in a padded room.

    QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) I enjoy this one quite a bit, nice work!
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) I've seen Dick Allen mentioned a couple of times. Does he fit within the 30 year time frame? Hey! No one mentioned Minnie Minoso. .....spoilsport.....
  18. QUOTE(Molto @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) that's a pretty fair offer for him, IMO. unfortunately, it probably won't land him. A ton of mediocre pitchers have been overpaid already this offseason. No reason why the best position player available shouldn't be.
  19. Okay, I've changed my mind! If Jon Lieber gave up TWO hits to a one-handed PITCHER, the Phillies can HAVE him!!!!!
  20. Still wearing the jumpsuit.....HA!!! If you squint REAAAAL hard, you can see him taking that bite out of the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich!! "Hot damn, man, I ain't gunna eat no sammich wit' Jeeeezuss's Momma on it......"
  21. Having heard some of Kid's music, I can tell you that the man has talent! I also believe 100% that he'd never whore himself out musically. Now ME, on the other hand..... "OoOoOOOOooooOOOHHHhhhHHH.....If yOu KnoW me BETtEr Than I eVEr kNEw mYseLLlllLLLF...." ( insert hoedown here ) CHA-CHINGGGGGG!!!
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) Jerry Don Gleaton Claudell Washington Steve Lyons Lyle Muton Scott Fletcher You forgot the O in Lyle Mouton.....or was it used to describe his day at the plate??
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) supposedly the Cubs will offer 5 years, 75 mil. max, even if they cannot unload Corky. They're awful slow in getting an offer out there. Hendry's probably FLYING UNDER THE RADAR.....
  24. Sandberg was the beneficiary of a very weak induction list. Still, no one remembers that over time, so he's a Hall Of Famer. Gotta keep Santo out, though.....it's a tradition, and Cub fans LOVE a tradition of losing!!
