Be careful Cardinals
Thing is, only one name on that list is new. The rest have been on an underachieving team all year. I may be in the minority, but I don't feel that Nomar makes them the prohibitive favorite to win the Wild Card. They've played some mediocre baseball thus far, far under what was expected, and if they don't change THAT, Garciaparra won't make a big enough difference at all.

TBC Uniforms
Actually the Chicago American Giants, but you're basically correct. I like the "AG" hats, and I think they did sell those around here at some point in the past.

MusicCenter?
I disagree. While Alanis IS annoying, it would take someone like Yoko Ono or Roseanne to even APPROACH the annoyance level of Linda Cohn. The scary part is, the voice you hear on SportsCenter is the watered-down, carefully measured voice she uses. I've heard her on the Dan Patrick radio show, and her REAL voice is closer to Fran Drescher - UGH.

I am so damn glad
Division races can be lost in July as well, though. The one thing I'm glad about is that the Twins have a rough stretch of the schedule while the Sox are playing poorly, so maybe Minny can't run away and hide.

Yankees close to new stadium plan
Mike North's act = Wrigley Field old, tired, outdated and should be replaced.

Mike Tyson
Ever see a guy look so content to just sit there and be counted out? It's truly amazing how far he fell. He was THE most feared fighter ever at one point, and now he's a complete and total joke. ( for the record, I saw the picture of Mike relaxing on the ropes while the ref counted him out on SportsCenter - I stopped paying for Tyson fights a LOOOOONG time ago )

MusicCenter?
Alanis Morrissette is performing. On SportsCenter. And this has WHAT to do with sports? ( I guess they'll try to slip it through the loophole that the E in ESPN stands for Entertainment.... )

Any Deals
I'm guessing some small deal in which everyone will lament the player given away.

Yankees close to new stadium plan
That's because the Yankees have a mess of World Series titles to remember fondly, so they don't have to lionize their ballpark they way the Cubs and Red Sox do.

When you talk about unimaginable lows, do you mean sitcom re-runs getting batter TV ratings than playoff games? Oh wait, that already happened - this year. The NHL is dead in the water as a major sport, and if they want to retain any measure of relevance in the sporting world at all, they'd better find a way to reach common ground. Hockey is a niche sport, and the worst thing that happened to the NHL in recent years was when Radar Bettman took over as commissioner and tried to force the NHL into becoming the NBA. Overpaid players, a TV contract that was GUARANTEED to lose money for the networks - thereby ruining any chance of a reasonable future TV contract, ticket prices so high that families are forced out of the attendance base only to be replaced by corporate suiteholders and executives who could care less about the team.....the Bettman regime has been a f***ing nightmare.

I heard this on a commercial for the Retard Nation: "Good things happen to people who come on the program, and bad things happen to people who don't." That's not delusional.....

Bartolo Colon improving
He's put together a decent enough run, but I bet the Angels still don't feel like they're getting enough back from their investment.

Neal Cotts and his role for this year
Wow, when's the last time THAT happened to a Sox farmhand?
-
Reggie Taylor
yeah, probably not, I never hear his name mentioned at all.

Same old white sux

Neal Cotts and his role for this year
Off Topic: I feel SO bad for poor Norfolk - they're home to the Mets' minor-league team AND the SlackHawks' minor-league team.....wow.....talk about :puke On Topic: I don't really see much in Cotts anymore. I see Josh Stewart when I look at Cotts. I hope I'm wrong, and Lord knows I often am - - but I have no faith in him when he comes into a game.

White Sox Free Association Game
Charles Comiskey was cheap

Anyone else feel like we beat ourselves today?
Jose Valentin beat the White Sox on Wednesday. Others had a hand in it, but Jose killed a key offensive chance for the Sox and extended the Twins' 10th inning, leading to the winning run.

History Lesson
Long season, teams go in cycles, etc etc etc I think they'll be OK, which is NOT to say that this team is without its problems. I'd like to see the same things addressed that we all would ( leadoff guy, some bullpen help, LH bench bat, and so on ) but I still have optimism with this team. It's just disappointing that the Sox couldn't give the BIG crowds more to cheer about.

I understand all that, YOU JERK! But waaaaaaaay back when I played baseball, once we progressed to pony league ball you generally placed your best outfielder in RF, your fastest outfielder in CF and your "servicable" ( good but not great ) outfielder in LF. Also, just to kinda demonstrate the difference in how a ball is hit, when a ball is hit into the corner in right it's usually tailing away, whereas a ball hit into the LF corner is usually on a straight path. It's the reverse for a left-handed hitter, but there are far more righty hitters in MLB, that's why I think it's harder to play RF in MLB than LF. Again, it's only my opinion and it's worth whatever you want it to be.

Silence the Drama Queens
Now CLee needs to jerk a double into the corner to make everybody VERY happy. I'll settle for a base hit...or a walk...or a wild pitch...etc etc etc.... Timo!

Silence the Drama Queens
Now THAT was beautiful.

IMO, right field is a bit harder to get used to than left, at least in softball. The ball carries differently, flyballs to right field usually have more tail and spin on them than flyballs to left. Plus you have more long throws playing RF.
