  1. MAGIC BUS.....MAGIC BUS..... I can almost hear it now.... "DUDE, I got kicked out of the Cubbie game, but they're taking me to a BUS! I wonder where we're goin'??? WHOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!"
  2. DAS BOOTS!!!!! From the speculation I heard, good ol' Scrap Iron Garner is going to replace him. Heard Berkman "sort of" throwing Williams under the bus yesterday, talking about how sometimes a change can spark things, etc etc...
  3. I wonder how many media outlets will think their fax machines are broken when they receive a blank sheet of paper from the NHL offices...
  4. Soldier - I never go there, but I know from relatives that it's a NIGHTMARE. Allstate - HA!! EXCELLENT point about the Vanishing Cops! I had some REAL long waits getting out of there ( back when it was the Horizon ) after concerts. Hasn't been too bad after Wolves games, though - even the weekend games with 11,000 or more people. UC - On the increasingly rare occasion that I subject myself to a SlackHawks game, I just wait around a little bit and the lot quickly empties out to a comfortable level. I park at the Malcolm X parking lot, which is usually easier to get out of than the closer lots. Wrigley - ALWAYS take public transportation - that area is brutal, with the neighborhood parking restrictions and all that. I go to the Metro quite a bit, and even on Cubbie off-days parking is at a premium.
  5. He must've thought there were two strikes... 5 homers, 10 not.....I'd guess the corked bat was left at home....
  6. I'd get a Sox Pride shirt instead of any of those, because as it reads on the back of the Sox Pride shirt..... "It's About US!"
  7. I disagree. I felt it was quite telling to have Soxtalk referred to as "romper room" while the MATURE ADULTS over there were sniping at each other and dragging each other through the sewer. ....btw, that is NOT referring to the people who also post here, mainly a reference to the "resident expert insider" over there who left here... Sometimes the "little kids" act more grown-up than the grown-ups....ironic, eh?
  8. If I may be so blunt: What the f*** kind of question is that? I'll assume you're somewhat serious, with the absence of green. That is asinine and insulting on so many levels it's absurd. If it makes any difference to you, I am a heterosexual caucasian with one child. ( JimH can investigate to verify if he'd like.... ) I hope you simply forgot to put that horrid question in green. I've always enjoyed going back and forth with you, but if those are your true beliefs then I just don't know...interesting how "f*g" gets an asterisk, but the N-word flies out unfiltered...
  9. Randall Simon, perennial All-Star!!!!
  10. I cannot think of a better way to go broke, though, I'll tell you that RIGHT NOW!
  11. The Sox do SO MUCH to try to make it affordable for people to get game tickets, and that's a fact that goes underappreciated by the local media. They don't try to scalp their own tickets - unlike SOME Chicago teams - although I have to admit that JR probably would try if the demand was there. 1/2 price Mondays, Pepsi Tuesdays, Silver & Black Pack, AAA Motor Club, there are SO many ways to get an affordable Sox ticket, and I for one REALLY appreciate the Sox for that.
  12. I have to say that you're the first person I've EVER seen to name Marc Bolan as an influence. Even back in the 70s T-Rex was sort of in that B-list of rock icons, usually lumped in with bands like Starz and Sweet on that "next level" underneath the giants of the time. Can't say I was ever that big a fan of his, but I was BIG into The Sweet. My friends gave me a LOT of s*** about that, since my main interest was punk ( Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Dead Boys, Ramones ) and hard rock/metal ( Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith, Kiss, etc ). So the Sweet was NOT accepted amongst the punkers or the rockers
  13. Probably getting his Malt-O-Meal at the home....
  14. VERY nice choice, Cali. They could call it "THE..." Demolition Night! The "Attack of the 'The' bands" is maybe the most unattractive musical scene in the past decade - YES, even worse than nu-metal, in my opinion.
  15. Steve Dahl Demolition Night. Poetic justice, AND it finally rids the local market of a bloated hasbeen.
  16. Please. Shingo is NOT stupid, and his wife lived here for a while before, so she'd CERTAINLY object if she felt it was being done in a demeaning or racist fashion. Again, if it's OK with Shingo, it's OK with me. Besides, I saw a pretty large Asian contingent in attendance on I think it was Saturday night, and I'm absolutely certain we'd have heard something by now if THEY felt it was in poor taste. Sometimes a gong is just a gong. I like the entrance, I think it sets him apart and gives his entrance a bit more pizzazz.
  17. IIRC, the whole thing was OK'd by Shingo before they ever used it, so they can always fall back on that if they catch flak over it.
  18. Nope. Baseball fan. ( I was more of a punk kid during that era, facts be told ) There's a time and a place for everything and that was NOT the place - might have been the time, though. Plus, it made a local legend out of a subpar morning schtick jock and he's been riding it ever since.
  19. Let PK ( and the rest of the Sox except ELo, for that matter ) get the 3 days rest and focus on Oakland. That ASG stuff is fun but unnecessary. I want ALL of Paulie's homers to count on the board.
  20. I'll gladly keep first place whilr the Jndjans enjoy their 5 All-Stars. Notice no Tribe relievers are on the AS team - their bullpen is THE reason that they're not gonna contend.
  21. I like the Cardinals and I will DEFINITELY make more road trips down there when that SWEET new ballpark is built in a couple years. You should check out the artist's renderings of their new park - it's gonna be pretty cool. Busch Stadium is an armpit, and as I've said before, Cardinals fans deserve better - they're a fiercely loyal bunch and they sell the place out regularly! Word To The Birds! ...but I WILL cheer against them when they face the Sox in the World Series! [fingers crossed]
  22. Lot F + west Pershing Ave = home in a FLASH!! Anyway, a few extra minutes in the parking lot is a SMALL price to pay for the increased attendance and the GREAT feeling it brings to the event!!!! Big crowds + White Sox Winner = Excitement!!! and the Bullpen Bar "beer or three" is a NICE idea too....as long as the drinker isn't the driver, that is.... Safety First, Kids!!!
  23. I want to email this idea to Brooks Boyer, now that the Sox are being more aggressive towards the other team in town. For the 7th inning stretch, while the other team in town is having every half-ass "celebrity" they can find desecrate Harry Caray's memory by butchering Take Me Out To The Ballgame, how about the Sox showing some classic Harry on the big screen to remind people where that storied tradition REALLY CAME FROM??? Maybe try to find the first televised rendition of Harry singing it at Comiskey Park Classic, and put that information on the screen too. Whattya think? I think it's time to Take Back What's Ours!!! SOX PRIDE!!!! It's About US!
