My wife or sister-in-law might agree with that statement, I would not. IMHO, The Wildhearts are, but they're so far stylistically from DMB that it's total apples-to-oranges. That's a cool thing to do for his fans, though, gotta give him that.
  2. If you're only in it for the money, and you get all the money you'll ever need, then it makes sense to get out. No point in continuing to get hit by huge guys if you're not in it for the championships or the sport of it. Nothing wrong with that at all. To each his own. What was wrong was the timing - he waits until Eddie George signs somewhere else to inform the team. That was not right at all. I don't think he'll ever return to football unless he blows all his cash. He says he wants to travel the world and he's starting with a one-way ticket to Asia.
  3. ALL HAIL THE POPEYE CHIN!!!! Not surprised at all that her CD debuted at #1 - since the advent of SoundScan, most ultra-hyped CDs debut at #1 from that initial burst of curiosity. You rarely see anyone having a record stay at #1 for months at a time anymore. That's why a #1 CD doesn't mean much anymore, but yet SoundScan is more accurate than the old method of contacting select record stores to get their sales totals. The old way was much more vulnerable to payola, deception and trickery.
  4. Absolutely right! She reminds me just a bit of Jessica Alba. She was the first one out of the limo on the first episode and I thought "I know who I'M rooting for!" GO ANNA!
  5. He's made great strides out there - he gets good jumps on flyballs and catches what he can get to. He hasn't tortured me with tapdancing or dropped flyballs. I don't worry about flyballs to left this year.

    The Assistant

Has anyone else seen The Assistant on MTV? This show is VERY funny! Andy Dick is torturing his "little b****es" as only the amazingly weird Mr. Dick can. He's got these kids so confused and flustered, and it's comedy GOLD!
  7. I'll look for the zine, definitely. Is it going to be an e-zine, or an actual paper publication? Sonic Ruin is a cool name too, by the way.
  8. What exactly does that dumbs*** expect KW to say? "We need to make a move RIGHT THIS SECOND, and we don't care about keeping any bargaining leverage. We need to let the other teams know that we are DESPERATE and will give ANYTHING to make a move! OH GOD, WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO???? PLEASE, ANYONE, MAKE A TRADE WITH US!!!" Mariotti is an imbecile. IMO, KW is handling it well - showing confidence in the guys on the team now while working the phones to try to imporve the club. He doesn't need to explain to that asswipe what he's attempting to do, and the Sox certainly don't need their potential moves broadcast or analyzed.
  9. Harry in his prime was VERY good. Try to find some audio clips of his work with the Sox or Cardinals. It's only when he got old, got sick, and became a mascot that his work eroded.
  10. f*** the casual fan, I want the borderline Sox fan to get off the couch! The casual fan is an idiot sheep - the borderline Sox fan cares about the Sox, but maybe holds a grudge against Reinsdorf, or maybe has seen too many late fades so he needs to be convinced, or maybe can't afford to go to many games. THOSE are the people I want going to Sox games, in a perfect world, not the "Oh, I can't decide what to do, see White Chicks or go to the Sox game" people. ...that said, if the borderline fan isn't going to go, then the Sox may as well take Joe Casual's money... It is a good move to let folks know how many tickets remain, as long as the number of remaining tickets isn't too high....it would be awful to hear "Well, Sox fans, ONLY 24,000 good seats remain for each game of the Tampa Bay series"...

    Ministry

It leans to the metallic side of Ministry more than the industrial, and the dancefloor Ministry is dead forever. As I mentioned, it's VERY close in style to Psalm 69, in fact I think people would say it's too close, almost like a sequel or re-hash, but I like it a lot.
  12. If you've never read Iann Robinson's column, you should do so now. Iann was an MTV veejay, but he never fit in there because he's a huge metal fan and not a vacuous airheaded cloned sheep. Iann's latest rant is about the Pathetica documentary sobfest, "Some Kind Of Monster". It's an excellent read, see it here: http://www.metal-sludge.com/Iann-SomeKindOfBulls***.htm Iann!

    Ministry

Just picked up the new Ministry CD and thought I'd share my thoughts: I had been disappointed in the last couple of Ministry CDs so I thought I'd wait to hear something online or on the radio before I decided to give this one a chance. Well, I heard "No W" on Q101's "Local 101" and really enjoyed it. It's kind of a return to form for Ministry, with the metallic riffs and audio samples of George W. throught a couple of songs. Al Jourgensen's very blatant about his opinion of the President, and this is an angry disc, which gives the music a nice edge whether you agree with his opinion or not. It's reminiscent of their Psalm 69 disc, which is my favorite Ministry CD. If you like that, you'll like this. Favorite songs from Houses Of The Mole are "No W", "Waiting", "Worthless", "Warp City" and "WTV". ( Yeah, all the song titles start with W.....kinda lame.... ) I've already burned a CD with my faves from this one and from Psalm 69, so I'm set for a good driving CD.
  14. There is so much good s*** on this list that my head is spinning! QUALITY QUALITY STUFF!!! :notworthy
  15. I would be perfectly OK with that. If they got Palmeiro, the Sox would have backup in case Paul's hip falls off again, like last year....remember that? Why no talk of the bum hip this year???
  16. He'd be a nice pickup, but he'd never re-sign here and would cost way too much. There have to be more affordable deals out there that still make sense, Finley being one of them.
  17. I don't think I want him, and I doubt the Tigers would make a trade like that within the division. I would expect him to be dealt to the other Chicago team before being dealt to the Sox.
  18. It doesn't bother me if the local papers feature the Cubs over the Sox. All I want is for the Sox to win. We talk about the players and the game enough - I don't need to know what Chris DeLuca thinks, and I REALLY don't need to know Jackass Jay's opinion. I watch the games, so I can see for myself what happened, and I don't give a rat's ass about the "casual fan". They can read about whoever they want. The crowds and advance sales for Sox games are going up, so obviously SOMEONE is paying attention to the Sox. That's good enough for me. If the Sox get into the postseason and the Cubs don't, then the Bandwagon Press will jump on board and we'll all complain that they weren't along for the whole ride.
  19. I'll add two easy ones to start the ball rolling: Tim McCarver ( Master of the Obvious ) Ron Santo ( Unintelligible Screaming and Mumbling, never adds ANYTHING to a broadcast ).
  20. Comedian: "My wife is so fat that when she sits around the house, she sits AROUND THE HOUSE!" Bighurt52235: "I think you should say that she doesn't actually sit AROUND the house, she's just so large that it appears that she may be sitting around the entire house, because there's no way she could REALLY be as large as an entire house..."
  21. Funny little bit with Oz taping L and R on his sleeves and pointing with both hands to get Marte. I like Oz - it's nice to laugh a little during games.
  22. Interesting, but I kinda like him at 1 or 2. He has decent speed, certainly better than CLee or PK. I wonder if Oz should try Jose in the 3 hole once in a while - not on a regular basis, but I wouldn't mind seeing it on a trial basis.
  23. I agree that something has to be done about issuing suspensions to starting pitchers. If they want to suspend someone for one start, they should make it for his next scheduled start and not this bulls*** "5 game suspension" nonsense. Also, I think any appeal should be heard immediately after the suspension is announced ( or as soon as is logistically possible ). None of this appealing to hold the suspension off for a more favorable time or weaker opponent. Get it heard and get it served.
  24. They do seem to enjoy each other's company,Tony, I can just never get past Tallon's persecution complex. In his mind, the Hawks have never been called for a legitimate penalty. Every referee in the league has an ax to grind against the Hawks, and every team in the league commits more penalties than the Hawks, but aren't called for them. It gets REAL old REAL fast.
  25. Never heard that about Tom and I don't care.
