  1. I know, Reddy, I'm just messin' with cwsox. His obsession with Marshall Mathers is always an easy topic for joking! Thus the , and ...and the occasional . I enjoy SOME rap, just as I enjoy some punk, some metal, etc. Just no country.........I honestly can't stand country, with the only exception being Johnny Cash.
  2. JosE6's lefty bat is pretty important to the Sox lineup. It's going to be interesting to see what Oz does to keep all three guys - JosE6, Juan and Willie - involved. Willie's been hitting enough lately to stay in the equation, in my opinion, but he's still the most vulnerable to sit down for a while.
  3. I saw their video, I'm not afraid of D12...freakin' boy band...
  4. They don't bother me either way. I love the park as is - I don't want a waterfall, or a warehouse, or a slide for a mascot, or a ferris wheel, or anything else that would be more "kitschy". They got rid of the ONE thing I found disgusting, that horrid blue ring around the top of the park that made it look like a spaceship.
  5. With pitchers, it's hard ( if not impossible ) to know for sure either way. The Sox didn't go after Roger Clemens a few years back because they were sure he was on the decline. So you never really know...
  6. Since I'll most likely never visit The Ballpark At Arlington, I couldn't care less if the Sox are copying their design. All I know is USCF is a beautiful ballpark now, and is a tremendous place to watch and enjoy a baseball game.
  7. I'd add to this: 5) He failed to consider the frustration factor after a pitcher loses a hitter after a 10 to 14 pitch at-bat, and how the next batter can benefit from the pitcher's frustration. And on the main topic, Corey Patterson will be a fine player for a long time, IMO, but he will never............NEVER.............be the hitter Frank Thomas has been for over a decade...................never.
  8. The problem with the A's style is that it's difficult to change your approach once the playoffs arrive, especially after you've had success with a bombing style. The A's find this out the hard way every year lately, once the playoffs start. It's an advantage to get the balance of styles figured out in the regular season, so it's in the team's natural mental approach and not something they have to think about on the field. Judging by your post, I think we're saying the same thing basically.
  9. It's probably a case of the Sox over-using the sacrifice to try to get it into their heads. This team has been so reliant on the 3-run bomb that it's going to take some force-feeding of the sac to get them away from old habits. There's nothing wrong with the 3-run shot, but it doesn't win you the WS very often. A good solid mix of situational hitting, power and aggressiveness will get a team DEEP into the postseason.
  10. Hey...that sounds like a description of this board....
  11. Don't you know, that ain't singing cuz rap ain't music!!!!
  12. I hope that was supposed to be in green. I'm not saying that Camden Yards isn't nice, cuz I've never been there, but I CAN say that USCF is f***ing beautiful now, and every single seat on the lower bowl and 80% of the UD are great seats. You know, Wrigley is supposedly a "real" ballpark too.
  13. I don't really care. I was never that big a fan of his. He's okay, but nothing special. People love the underdog, but he thinks he should be a regular, and I don't agree. Neither did Sox management and that's why he's gone. I don't wish him any ill will, but I don't care either way about him.
  14. There's one REALLY funny line in this otherwise sad and pathetic story, and HERE IT IS: "After getting a doctor to certify that he was sane and not a stalker, she gave the green light for his six-month surgical transformation." After getting a doctor to certify that he was SANE??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
  15. I was upgrading my daughter's Silver & Black Pack tickets. They only let you do that at the Box Office or by mail. Besides, my little girl had fun walking in the rain from the car to the BO and looking at the park - "It looks pretty with all the glass, Dad!" Got some VERY nice 2nd row RF reserved outfield seats for the 6/24 and 9/1 games, by the way.
  16. Sox are NOT gonna make much money today. Two games in s***ty weather with almost NO ONE at the park. I went down there this morning to buy tickets for June and September, and the guy working the ticket window was cursing the weather. He kept saying "we can't catch a break" and wondering out loud why West Coast teams play each other in April while Midwest and Eastern teams are playing home games. I can sympathize, but I'm glad I'm not there today. Freezing your ass off is never fun.
  17. The only key difference is that this involves children. I still can't believe that Jayson Williams could avoid ANY jail time after being found gilty of witness and evidence tampering.
  18. Nope. I root for the AL Central teams to lose, but I try not to think about who won the games. When the Spankees play the Cubs, I ignore the whole thing.
  19. I will NEVER be confused with a fan of the Spankees, but I have to admit that I'll be rooting for Jon Lieber today when he makes his first start since undergoing elbow surgery. I've always admired Lieber as a true pro, who just goes about his business and doesn't feel the need to let you know how great he is. GOOD LUCK JON!
  20. I dunno about "500 times worse". It certainly doesn't help to take it to the media, and two wrongs don't make a right, but if AJ's really refusing to review tape in favor of playing cards, and if he's really ONLY watching Twins games on videotape, then the situation is already 500 times too f***ed up. Pierszynski has always struck me as a self-promoting loudmouth twat, and this does nothing to change that opinion. I'd like to see him "be happy somewhere else" in Milwaukee.
  21. Doesn't he usually start a little slow on the power numbers? I seem to recall him as a May/June explosion of homers in the past. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm waaaaay too lazy today to go stat-hunting.
  22. That is such a tough line to walk. I remember after JM lost his first series to the cubs he said "I've got to live in this town" and made it a greater priority without losing sight of the real goal. Oz wasn't with this when inter league play began. I wonder how when it comes he'll think about it. Ozzie has that EXACTLY right. Regardless of the stupid bragging rights for each team's fans ( and the argument IS stupid, let's not kid ourselves ), the thinking of the Sox from management down to the players SHOULD be that the Cubs are no different from the Padres, Brewers, Expos or anyone else that they play in interleague competition. Concern yourself with them when you play them, but NOT at any other time. I'm REALLY bored with worrying about which newspapers have a "Cub bias" or what Cub fans are going to say to try to get on my nerves. It's juvenile. No, it's infantile. I'm worried about the Twins, Tigers, Royals and Indians in that order, because that's the order of the standings around the White Sox. ENOUGH of the Cubsession already. Enjoy the victories the Sox post over them, and root root root for the Astros or Cardinals if you want, but please spare me the hand-wringing over what page the Sox stories are on versus what page the Cub stories are on. It's really really tired.
  23. I just saw on CLTV's scroll that everyone's favorite drunken hillbilly Father Of The Year, Billy Ligue, was arrested in Harvey on felony burglary charges... But....but.....I thought he cleaned up his life??? I SAW him when he went to court....he had a NICE SUIT and GLASSES on.....he looked so respectable and clean-cut....
  24. I would agree with this if not for the fact that he's praising Ozzie on the Sox broadcasts ( which is basically preaching to the choir ) and almost all the press Hawk gets in the non-Sox media is revolving around his spat with Mariotti. Hawk needs to take off his "Local Yokel Media Police" badge and promote what's going on with the South Side baseball club....which is some pretty damn good stuff right now....
