I agree a bit AND disagree a bit. I agree that Crede should put put down for a while, and keep E6 and Willie at their spots. But I disagree about Willie splitting time - he's played both positions before, and he should be able to play both when asked. There are bench guys who play 5 positions, and if Willie is considered to be better than a bench guy he should be able to play 2. It's all muscle memory - once the instincts develop a bit, it should be just like riding a bike.

In a lot of ways, Harrellson really does personify Sox fans. He cares VERY deeply about the White Sox, and speaks from his heart. He also harbors silly grudges that he should be above, like a lot of Sox fans do. I'm not always crazy about his broadcasting style, but there can be NO doubt that he loves the White Sox. And that makes him OK by me.

Fernando Valenzuela made a key point in this discussion: "This game is a team game. Everybody has to do it together to win games." If Maddux had not left the Cubs, he would not be in position to win his 300th game now. He had the benefit of the best NL team of the 90's to win him some games when maybe he didn't have his best stuff. The Cub teams of the 90's would not have won him that type of game very often. This is a fact many Cub fans are currently choosing to ignore as they prepare for his coronation.

We'll have to agree to disagree. If the existing penalties for other infractions were strictly enforced, the resulting power play disparity would be incentive enough for teams to clean it up. I simply see no upside to condoning violence to the point where teams employ inferior hockey players solely for their ability to punch someone while wearing ice skates. IMO, and I realize I'm in the minority here, it cheapens and harms the game.

I'd actually prefer if that was done away with too. A sport that lets its athletes goon it up with implicit consent loses credibility. Hockey is a GREAT game and it doesn't need the cementheads.

I don't think I can wait until Maggs gets back. Crede looks like he's gonna jump off a ledge. Let Gload get a game or two in, do the Timo in center/Rowand in right thing for a day or two, get Crede a lot of positive cage time and let him try it again.

Heard on SportsCenter that Pettitte has "forearm discomfort" and it appears to be unrelated to the elbow problems that caused him to miss time earlier this year.

Crede has begun to show frustration with each bad at-bat. LOTS of bat-throwing and head-shaking. He is obviously not having much FUNG. It's time to give him a few days off to reflect/take extra BP/study tape of his swing/whatever it takes.

I voted other because I don't think either team has cornered the market on braindead losers who feel the need to drink themselves s***ty and start fights to ruin the night for people who can manage to act like human beings for 3 hours at a ballgame. EVERY professional ( and amateur ) sports team has moronic drunken imbeciles in their fanbase, and I am not convinced that Cub culture helps, hurts, or affects the Sox in any way.

100% true and accurate. I go to games wearing my Reds gear, or my Pirates gear, or my Cardinals gear, and it doesn't make a bit of difference. It's a SHIRT - so what? People really really need to grow up. It's incredibly stupid, childish, stupid, ignorant, and STUPID to get s***faced drunk and fight over nothing at a baseball game. It's not entertaining to me at all, it's a complete embarrassment to the people who can't control themsleves in a public place. Pathetic.
