  1. Unless you're "mentally challenged", you could have stopped reading that stupid s*** at that point. NO general manager would say something like that about a player, ESPECIALLY when he has not yet traded him. .....well, maybe Dallas Green might have.....
  2. Send him to the minors. He obviously can't protect a 3-run lead.
  3. The same way I reacted back then: shake my head about the morons, then ignore it after that. that was a complete and utter embarrassment.
  4. Hey, if the Royals are that worried about another "incident", they could always forfeit, change their diapers and go home....
  5. Pessimism is in NO short supply among Sox fans. It's when the pessimism gets in the way of enjoying the positives that I think it becomes bothersome to me. I'm very happy with the start, glitches and all, and I think the aggressive style of play will pay off in the end. Taking the extra base, making the opposition throw the ball around - it's all good to me. There are things to be concerned about, to be sure, but the negativity can get a little tiresome.
  6. I agree with Capn and YAS - 8 games into the year is too soon to give up on anyone. Frank Thomas is hitting in the low 200's with no homers yet - bench him? No. Am I happy with Koch's last outing? Nope. Do I think he should get the next save op? Not if it's today, but only because I don't want to see him throw in 3 straight games. It was unwise ( in retrospect ) to use him in a blowout. He might not have had his best stuff because of that. His velocity and location HAD been better before this last outing. I'm going to wait until the low velocity becomes more of a pattern before I log onto killbillkoch.com. I'm just VERY glad that the OzzieSox didn't roll over and go out 1-2-3 like the ZombieSox might have last season.
  7. I hope they get it done. Despite the mild protests from some people on this board ( which I understand but don't happen to agree with ) I think the Sox should try to lock Magglio up. He's as consistent as they come offensively and has improved defensively. Plus, he's a fan favorite, and I think that's important too. Also, he's not likely to be involved in any cork/steroid/domestic scandals, and THAT should be taken into consideration as well. It's nice to have a great player who's by all accounts a great guy.
  8. PK always plays a nice 1B, IMO. Good glove and decent enough mobility for a first baseman. It's great to see him get out of the gate strong.
  9. Talking to yourself during the game, were ya Show?? Maybe next time hit the chat room - that way you won't have to bore yourself with your own ramblings!!!
  10. Very good perspective, YASNY. Here's my take on the Sox under Manuel. JM was their boss. If your boss is a blase, uninspired, uninspiring, dull, listless, flat, lifeless oaf, you will ultimately unwittingly take on some of those traits yourself, at least as it applies to your job. You might THINK you're doing your best, and you might THINK you're trying hard and you may BE trying hard, but when that lifeless boss is replaced by a boss who exhibits more energy, exuberance and love for the job and his workers, THAT will reflect on you also, and you will only then realize the dragging effect that the former boss had on you. Oz is saying the right things for the right reasons - he doesn't want any scapegoating, he wants the past to be past ( a good idea ) and he wants the players to lay off JM bashing because Manuel is a friend of Ozzie's. I, for one, want to forget that Jerry Manuel ever existed. I hope Ozzie helps me to forget him in a hurry, with a few playoff appearances and - DARE TO DREAM - a future WORLD SERIES WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
  11. And...............I don't think the Tigers are short-terming it. They're interested in changing the losing ways there, and you don't do that if you give up on people in a half-year. They're off to a good start and there's no really logical reason to think that they're necessarily going to be "out of it" by June. It's not like they have to play NY, Boston, Baltimore and Toronto 19 times a year. They're going to play the weak AL Central just like the Sox are, and if they can beat up on people, they won't be the doormats they were last year. And last year they weren't exactly doormats for the Sox with a MUCH weaker lineup than they can present now.
  12. If the Sox can get Loaiza a few early wins ( like they have so far ) and keep him confident, he'll continue to improve his location. I still think he's good for 16-19 wins this year. Despite the long balls allowed, he seems to be able to get out of jams when he has to. He fields his position very well to help himself, and he has good instincts. I think he'll be just fine.
  13. Urbina signed with Detroit. Perez doesn't interest me. I want PK to be HERE for his comeback year.
  14. f*** Sports Net is showing the replay of the opener, and guess what 1/2 inning they skip over? THE INNING WHEN THE SOX TOOK THE LEAD!!!!!! What kind of retard assface dumbs*** skips THAT inning on the replay??? ALL I WANTED TO SEE WAS PAULIE'S BLAST! Yeah, show me the goddamned ROYALS hitting again...............what the f***? :fyou FSN :fyou
  15. I will be sitting: At my desk On the train In my car In my house I will be wearing: My work clothes Upon arriving home, shorts and a t-shirt Have fun and GO SOX!!!!
  16. Nope. Didn't watch one minute of that. Couldn't care less. NHL Playoffs = the very best postseason tournament, IMO.
  17. That wasn't really a death threat, Brando....more like a "death encouragement"! DIE DIE DIE, DIE ANDY DIE!!! I never watch or read the idiocy that oozes out of the crust-covered wrinkled-up trap of his. If I want to hear some dinosaur mutter stupid opinions, I'll go watch some old homeless guy piss on himself while he yells at pigeons.
  18. I would root for Detroit - hell, I AM rooting for Detroit. I also like the Leafs, although I am hoping for the Sens to win a couple rounds. Boston v Detroit would be just fine for me. Hell, ANY matchup is fine for me - playoff hockey is THE BEST time of the year for sports, ONLY the Sox in the World Series would be better!
  19. Nope. Doesn't matter how much they wanted to pay me, I'm not going anywhere where Americans are hated that much. I got a family to think about.
  20. whenever I need a break from posting, or if the mood gets a little weird ( e.g. last summer's flame wars ), I just vanish for a while. I don't feel the need to announce my departure. the grandiose proclamations are funny to me. I get all the inane drama I need from the latest season of The Real World - those kids are f***ED. UP. seriously.
  21. I thought I heard somewhere that the NEW USCF holds around 41,000. and today's attendance should be REALLY low, because they're playing tomorrow...
  22. Gotta let 2003 go, Brando. It's over, and it's never coming back. Koch and Konerko have been doing a good job thus far in 2004, and I'm not going to let the disappointment of last year deprive me of enjoying what could happen this year.
