  1. One variable is the tourism aspect of it. Some teams have a much larger out-of-town contingent than others, but every team has some travelers amongst their fan base. Hell, some SlackHawks fans STILL make the trip to St. Louis and Detroit!!
  2. What, tonight's game goes about 18 0r 19 innings??
  3. Nahhh, if the Sox wanted an old pitcher who only occasionally has his good game, they could have gone after Maddux and not had to give up anyone to get him! I would like to see them get a top-line guy, but I just don't think that'll happen, so it's down to making the best of who they have. Wright hasn't lost me yet - I really do think he'll settle in and have a good year. Oh, and I CERTAINLY don't make that trade if Carlos is involved!!
  4. Good pitchers can generally shut down bats - that's what makes them good pitchers....
  5. They showed people LEAVING in the top of the first inning! The Pirates are WEAK. Pittsburgh should only have the Steelers - they've proven that they won't support any other team.
  6. How DARE you!!!! and just so you know....I used to like the Hartford Whalers....whatever became of them? It's as if they dropped off the face of the Earth!!!
  7. The two words that make me glad Gallas is gone: "It's Time" :puke :puke :puke :puke
  8. Still rooting for the Red Wings. Sorry, Heather, but I LIKE that team.
  9. It may take agility, but if you have to try the "Ol' Up-And-Over", I don't know if you can be called "lucky"....
  10. That's called "self-gummification" in Indiana....
  11. WHEW - at 3:30 I will be at my wife's workplace, getting into the car for the ALWAYS ENJOYABLE I-55 experience!! I can only imagine what a few raindrops will do to the drive home..... :puke
  12. Dog days, Elvis nights.....blech. The sleepover is a good idea.....must not be his.... Way too much reliance on the fireworks this year, too. I hope the next guy copycats the jersey giveaways - I'd LOVE to have a chance to win a Dick Allen or Luis Aparicio jersey.
  13. Ahhhh, you call THAT rain???? A mere drizzle, a weak spitting drip..........my awful softball league would play in this! Call me when a REAL rain comes down!
  14. No rain yet downtown, at least not at Sears Tower, but all indications are that a fairly substantial storm front is coming through later.
  15. Did he schedule a Rob Gallas Appreciation Day for himself?? Maybe NOW the Sox will have more than the 3 or 4 decent giveaway days again! The Cubs have been POUNDING his ass in the cool giveaway category for the past few years.
  16. If he keeps losing games and giving up 8 runs per game in the process, they'll be callin' him OTHER names real soon....
  17. I was very surprised to learn that was the first time the Canadiens had EVER done that. Although I guess that when they were killin' everybody back in the day, they were probably never DOWN 3 games to 1..... I do have to give them credit, though - a 3-game win streak with the backs against the wall shows heart. I just wish Thornton had played like he can. I know the injury was slowing him down, but he is SO important to that team, it seems they can't win without him yet.
  18. Oh, and Kornheiser was really insulting the Wrigley faithful about the trash-tossing on PTI the other day. I think he was only doing it to get under Wilbon's skin, but it was funny nonetheless.
  19. The 15-second blurbs of idiocy right before the start of Mike & Mike lets me know that I'm not missing anything when I avoid his show. His speech cadence is really annoying, by the way, and his love of misprouncing the names of people he doesn't like is really juvenile and bland.
  20. "Toothy Toothing" = worst. nickname. ever. and WOW, look at all the fun I'm missing by not having a cell phone!!
  21. "we haven't seen a drunk rush onto the field at Wrigley and attack a coach or umpire..." NO, WE'VE ONLY SEEN ONE ATTACK A CUB PLAYER, RANDY MYERS, YOU DUMBf***!!!! f***ing selective memory makes me sick...
  22. I wouldn't. Too much for someone whose numbers will probably end up pretty similar to CLee's.
  23. I was listening to WGN radio this afternoon and that's EXACTLY what they were saying, almost word for word. "After 3 starts last year he was 0-3 with an ERA of 11.00.....he'll be fine....he had a great second half last year....." and so on. I understand that they'd NEVER say anything else, after all they have to shill for the company product, but it would be refreshing to hear at least one person at least float the suggestion that he might be slipping.
  24. True. Chimp was b****ing about the backdoor slider not getting called for JoeBlow. Maybe, Chimp, it's not getting called because it's NOT a strike??? Wait, I forgot....Chimp thinks that the Cubs should get the call every time on phantom tags and outside pitches.....
