Saturday, August 21 vs. Boston.

I can give MY opinion on what I think Harris is doing wrong. Grounding the ball to second base doesn't utilize your speed. Grounding the ball between short and third will get you some infield hits. Also, he seriously needs to take some pitches. Not even talking about walks - I just want to see him work the freaking count a little. Let the 2-5 hitters see what their guy is throwing, ad maybe if he gets ahead in the count, he can drop a bunt or see a good fat fastball and slap it on the ground and run. He's just not giving himself much of a chance to succeed. If he doesn't snap out of it, Uribe's gonna be the starting 2B and Willie's gonna end up on the bench or in Charlotte.

No need to search for my IP, Tex. I think people need to really let go of this goofy Cubsession. It's just another baseball team. I would have voted for ANY baseball team rather than ANY college basketball team. Yankees over Michigan - sorry, cw! Twins over UCLA. Royals over Gonzaga. and so on and so on... Ban me if you see fit....
-
This should come as no surprise, my vote is pro hockey. And I'm glad you worded it that way, because I enjoy the AHL ( and the Wolves in particular ) as much as I enjoy the NHL. Hockey has always been my favorite sport, which makes it all the more difficult to watch the laughingstock that plays in the United Center to 10,000 people a night.

which sport has best postseason?
The Critic replied to dasox24's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Personally, my choice is not on your list. The NHL has THE BEST postseason of any sport, hands down. The action becomes more intense, goals are at a premium, there are more overtime and multiple-overtime games than any other playoffs, and there are more huge first-round upsets in the hockey playoffs than in any other sport. Just another reason why, when played correctly ( read: not cheaply and not constant thuggery ), hockey is the best sport known to man. -
Then I wish you good luck day-of-game.
-
Might be tough to get Yankee tix day-of-game. Might not be a bad idea to grab them while you can.
-
OK, got my Loaiza Bobblehead Day tix. UD box behind the plate, section 529, 3rd row. Those are pretty sweet for UD tix.
-
I passed on a single seat in the LF corner of the bleachers. Weather usually sucks on Opening Day, and I have to work anyway. I'm already going to have to take 3 vacation days to take my daughter to her Silver & Black Pack days. Got tix for May 28th vs. Anaheim - day before my birthday too, I don't want to go on f***in' Dog Day the next day. Going to try for tix on Loaiza Bobblehead day too.

And this statement is just plain goofy.

HEY ISRAEL! If the choice was a Cubs website or a college basketball site, I WOULD post on the Cubs site, because I LIKE baseball and I NEVER EVER watch college basketball under ANY circumstances! Do NOT misunderstand the question presented - the Sox are NOT in the equation - it is a choice between Illini and Cubs - and since I enjoy baseball and dislike college sports, especially college basketball, the choice would be easy. Sorry if you feel that makes me less of a Sox fan than you.... ( For the record, I voted SOX in the Sox v. Illini poll.....can you guess why? ) Answer: Sox > Cubs > college basketball
-
Well, if it makes the Illini fans feel any better, you can replace the name Illini with ANY other college in the world and I'd still have to choose the Cubs. Baseball > Basketball

Everything's a souvenir to someone.... What is sad and sick is if they could get away with it, some of the people who took stuff would try to sell it on eBay or something. Sadder still is the fact that somebody would most likely buy the stuff on eBay. Quite a world we've got, huh....
-
....you might want to lose the sig, there, Maury....
-
THAT's gotta freak your doctor out....
-
I have to vote Cubs, because I give not one s*** about college basketball, so I'd rather see ANY World Series game than college basketball. Now if you said "would you rather watch the Illini play or get a boil on your ass", then I'd have to sit back and ponder the choices...

Yeah, and they'd better not put the kid in a crib cuz the crib might collapse, and they better not put the kid in a car cuz the car might crash, and they better not feed the kid cuz the kid can choke on food.....get off it. You may not be alone on this, but I'm not on board with your argument. No matter how hard you try to "minimize risk", there's a certain level of risk in anything you do. What happened to Crede's daughter is called an ACCIDENT - blaming Mrs. Crede for sitting where the ball landed is as stupid as blaming the batter for hitting the ball there or blaming the pitcher for throwing the ball where the batter could only hit it foul, or blaming the managers for putting that pitcher and hitter in the game at that time. ALL of those scenarios of blame, including yours, are asinine. Do you know the trajectory or the speed of the foul ball? Do you know where the Credes were sitting exactly? Are you sure that she was "daydreaming" and THAT's why the kid got hurt? Heaven forbid that the family goes to see Dad play ball. Mrs. Crede should keep the kid in the house until WHAT AGE? When is it SAFE for kids to attend sporting events? The girl who died at the Columbus hockey game was 13 - is THAT too young to attend games? Were HER parents "daydreaming" and therefore to be blamed for her death? Are we going to bar children from attending sporting events until they're old enough to assume responsibility for getting in the way of a batted ball or errant puck? I have a question for you - WHY are you going to "always hold this against Crede "? Why does it matter to you??? It's HIS kid, it's HIS problem if she's injured, and forgive me if I assume that he cares about the well-being of his kid more than you do. And before you repeat the "intelligent parent minimizing risk" thing, I don't agree that having your child fall victim to an ACCIDENT ( however avoidable YOU deem it to be ) makes Joe or his wife unintelligent, negligent or bad parents. I just don't buy it. s*** happens sometimes, and that's all there is to it. It's real easy to lay blame on other people. Too easy. I just hope DCFS doesn't come for me when I take my 4-year-old to the lower level of USCF this year.....she's pretty crafty, so I THINK she can get out of the way of that SCREAMING LINER....

Absolutely zero interest in seeing this movie. Meet The Parents = wildly overrated. I don't see why people love that movie so much.

Moronatti proves his stupidity again.
The Critic replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Nope. I don't hate myself nearly enough to put myself through that dope's two-hour Dumbathon. Not to mention the IQ-shrinking imbecile that comes on after him. -
For the Hockey fans here

Wasn't that a New Year's Eve game? I think my wife took her Mom to that game and they watched all that mess going on. -
Am I insane, or did every response miss the point? Ellen DeGeneres was listed as one of the 10 funniest men in America!
-
Sorry, I misplaced that thought - I meant to say that his outrage and threats to quit and go to satellite radio sound really contrived. The whole martyr thing comes off like a ploy to become the underdog, the antihero again, instead of the mainstream guy he had become when the movie was coming out.

I gave up givin' up s*** for lent. I NEVER cheat on THAT!!!

Also, on the topic of Stern: I used to be an avid listener - bought the stupid videos and books, too - now I'm bored to tears by him. Not sure what changed, but I can't listen to him or any of his ilk ( Muller, Dahl, Matthews ) anymore - it's all too boring. Listened to a little of Stern's Martyr Party this morning, but I couldn't take much of it. Playing all the media reports along with songs that fit the "struggle"....it was unbearable. It comes off sounding like a bit, like Stern was waiting for a crusade of some sort to play the victim again, and finally got one. Just sounded really contrived.

I suppose anything over the posted speed limit would also be SPEEDING!
