http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/03/12/chri...k.ap/index.html First of all, they only list 9 people - they said in the article it was a Top Ten list. Secondly, there's THIS:

Yeah, but by the same token, if Rowand was having a bad start, not many people would say "Lots of guys have bad springs and have a great year". I think if we're going to bury guys with a bad spring, then we have to credit the guys with a good start. I think Rowand's benefitting from finally being healthy this spring, and he's obviously seeing the ball well right now. I hope it continues, because the Sox really need him to produce this year. And let's not forget ( and I don't think we have ) that Rowand was hitting really well when the Sox got Everett last year, so it's not like he can't do it at the big-league level. Oh, yeah, Valentin is going well too, and should NEVER bat right-handed again!

Moronatti proves his stupidity again.
The Critic replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
It's what he does - if Mariotti isn't at the front of the lynch mob, he tends to go against the mob no matter how stupid he sounds doing it. Sutter shouldn't stay around, if only because he seems to think that he CANNOT be fired, for any reason. There's a blind arrogance there that can't be good for a young team. -
I can't believe the love affair America has with talentless garbage. This is sickening - a two-minute joke doesn't HAVE to turn into a recording contract. You just know he's going to get some kind of crap reality TV show - they'll probably have cameras follow him around during the recording of his "hit CD". Absolutely pathetic.

I can't believe he's divorced! He seems like quite a catch - must've been the wife's fault!!!
-
Right now, I'd go with Wright. He's seemed good so far, but it's VERY early.

I believe Bertuzzi is sorry about the severity of Moore's injury, but I'm not convinced that he's sorry about going after him. He still used terms like "I'm sorry about what happened" instead of being sorry for "my actions" or "what I did". It's another example of the Celebrity Apology, where they apologize "if anyone was offended" instead of apologizing for what they did or said that may have been the REASON someone was offended. I personally thought that the suspension should have been extended into the beginning of next season ( the next season the NHL plays, anyway ). This amounts to a 16-to-25 game suspension in all likelihood - 12 remaining regular season games + however deep into the playoffs the Canucks should advance. I thought there should have been another 10 or 15 games tacked on to the next season.

Yeah, usually the chicks like to keep it in the family. And people were so enthralled with Charlize Theron "uglying herself up" for the role, I don't think they even noticed that Wournos was a serial killer.

FRANK WILL NEVER GET A WS RING WITH SOX
The Critic replied to southsiderod's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thank you, Nostradumass, for that insightful look into Frank Thomas' future. Now, WILL HE EVER GET RE-MARRRRIIIEEEEEEED????? -
Unfortunately, this statement is true. It shouldn't be, it doesn't HAVE to be, but the situation is WAAAY out of control by now. It's probably too late to legislate the goonism out of the game. The problem is, fighting doesn't "police the players" anymore. Fighting leads to a promise of retribution, which leads to another fight, which leads to retribution in kind, and so on and so on. Look at that Philly-Ottawa abomination. WHY did the gloves have to drop EVERY time the puck did? No LOGICAL reason - just one-upsmanship and snowballing goonism. It's the immature machismo that just can't let it go until they've had the "last word". Trouble with that is, BOTH guys ( or both teams ) can't have the "last word". Moore was challenged to a fight earlier in the game. Under the "unwritten rules of hockey", that SHOULD HAVE "policed" the hit on Naslund and settled the situation. That wasn't good enough for Bertuzzi, who had pulled a SlapShot move and publicly stated at the time of Naslund's injury that HE was going to get Moore. The premeditation and cowardice of his actions convince me that Bertuzzi deserves AT LEAST the one-year suspension that Marty McSorley received for his stickwork on Donald Brashear. And trust me, I am not a pacifist or a 2-game-a-year guy. I haven't gone to SlackHawks games, but that's because of the distaste for their disorgan-I-zation. I've been a rabid hockey fan for over 30 years. I just don't think that having a full card of boxing in the middle of a hockey game is entertainment. If fighting was what the defenders claim it to be, I'd have much less of a problem with it. As it is, it makes a mockery of what is the greatest sport of all.

HOLY s***, these guys are f***ing HORRIBLE!!!! Butchered the f*** out of Shingo's name!! Dismal...
-
Hey, shut up! You're pissing on the grave of Sox And Roll, buddy!!!

I saw it in the Sun-Times this morning. I never have more than 2 beers at the game anyway, so it's a minor detail to me. Haven't had the urge to get wrecked at the ball game in a long time.

Relief isn't the problem with the Sox, so unless Oogie could start, they don't need him.

I'll take end-to-end rushes and good solid CLEAN hitting over either the trap or the crap. Hockey is a great game when it's played wide-open, but cleanly and aggressively. It bores the f*** out of me to see gloves, sticks and helmets all over the ice, or to see 9 players in the neutral zone at the same time. The Gretzky Era, when teams were scoring in bunches, is still my favorite era for hockey. I like to see offense and checking, and that era had it all for me. It's deceptive to see merely above-average goaltenders with GA's around 2 these days, when the best of that era were around 3.50.

Just thought I'd add that I saw a report that said his body WAS delivered to the same cryogenics lab that holds Ted.

Sure Paulie will be running - whenever the pitch goes back to the screen...
-
42 bombs, 105 RBI, and he's still the "Skirt"???
-
"oeo 11111" - worst. chant. ever.

I want to see the kid in action - I hope Oz gives him a lot of PT in the spring, so we can get a read ( or is it a Reed? ) on his ability.
-
Also yesterday, the Sox got lucky when they DIDN'T run on a possible hit-and-run situation. First and third, grounder up the middle - would have been a DP if they had the H&R on, with the 2B covering the bag. As it was, the ball went through for an RBI single. The Sox may or may not win the Central - who knows? - but I also think it will be a fun year, with baseball "beeeeeng playee dee rye wayee".
-
I'm sorry, but I find it to be embarrassing roller-derby crap. As if the NHL wasn't already enough of a joke on the sports horizon, every "hockey highlight" lately is a goonfest. I loved SlapShot as a movie, but as real life it kinda blows. At this rate, no one's gonna miss the NHL when it's gone next year.

I have a hard time including logical thought into rape cases. I doubt that IF he did it, he was thinking, "I'm Kobe Bryant - I don't have to do this - I can have anyone I want". I think IF he did it, maybe it was just a case where they were doing something, and he wanted to do something more and was all worked up, and she said no at some point, and he didn't stop. It's really difficult to speculate about this case. There's so much we don't know, and may never know, because it was just the two of them in that room. I just hope the truth prevails, whatever the truth might be.

Chris Farley + Meat Loaf - John Belushi = Jack Black. Me no likey.

Frank. He's still productive and he's earned the spot. Maggs seems comfortable at cleanup and CLee is versatile enough to spot at 2 or 5 depending on the needs of the team. It seems that Frank needs to feel that he's the #3 guy, and I have no problem with 42 bombs and 105 RBI from my #3 hitter, regardless of BA ( unless that BA gets TOO low, like .230, of course ).
