HA That's the kind of life-altering lessons our children will learn in "Mrs. Lee"'s classes! beautiful! "also, kids, students are the LEARNERS of the world..."
-
excellent - a broken link to call someone an idiot. heh.

That's true...it just uses your logic against you! EEEEEEEEEEEEEVILLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!
-
Then extending your logic, your little board game is > the NFL, NBA, and even MLB, because hockey is THE greatest sport ever invented! ...except the way the SlackHawks are playing it these days...not their fault, though...their owner has a "budget" too....
-
...and now BOTH teams have scored four goals!!!! ..................jealous, Hawks????
-
I am THOROUGHLY enjoying the Blues vs. Red Wings game tonight! Aggressive, emotional, physical, hard-charging hockey, the way the game was MEANT to be played! ...and one team has scored FOUR goals in a game! Something the SlackHawks have NOT done yet this season... Guess that's what happens when the owner will spend some money on talented players who aren't past their prime. Not that we'd know what that's like here in Chicago.... :fyou Bill Worst!!!! Watching a game like this really emphasizes how low SlackHawks hockey has sunk.

I don't know about KW's "three bad months" comment. I don't have the month-by-month breakdown, but it seems to me that PK had a bad year, stretched out over two seasons. Bad second half of 2002, bad first half of 2003. That said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if PK has a really solid year, whoever he may play for. He came back strong in the second half, and seemed to have adjusted to whatever he was doing wrong. There was a lot less of the "suicide shrug" and he seemed to be seeing the ball really well. There's no reason to believe that Konerko is on any kind of downward spiral.

Amonte "sucks"? I disagree. Here are his and Roenick's stats so far ( and keep in mind that they play on the same line and on the power play together most of the time ): Amonte 8G, 11A for 19 pts - +6 plus/minus - 9 power play points Roenick 9G, 13A for 22 pts - +3 plus/minus - 12 power play points While I think JR is a better player than Amonte, mostly because he plays a more physical style, I HARDLY think Amonte sucks. If the SlackHawks had more than TWO decent offensive players ( Eric Blase and Steve Sullivan - Calder will be but is just OK right now ), maybe their entire season wouldn't hinge on the health of their most fragile player.

How good can it be if it's "26% Off"??? I can name 2 right away: Therapy? - High Anxiety Wildhearts - Riff After Riff After Motherf***ing Riff

Sorry, Nuke, but "Until It Sucks" is the song I point to as the death of Metallica. The song itself is bad, but then you throw that REM video they made for it onto the pile and it justs reeks of sucklitude. In one fell swoop they became EVERYTHING they claimed to be against. ...didn't really like King Nothing or either Unforgiven...or anything else they've done in the past 10 years or so...it's amazing how far they've gone from the band I knew and loved...

HA....when I read the title, I thought you meant Kerry WOOD's wife! Here, I'll do this to myself..... :finger

Since the Twins are the Sox' main competition and the other Chicago team means nothing to me, I'm ok with this move. Doesn't sound like Hawkins got much of a raise, though. Made 3 mil last year, and the new deal averages about 3.67 mil per year. Surprised the Twinks couldn't do 11 mil over 3 years.

I'd give Frank a shot at 1B again if PK is traded. He impressed me out there in his limited play last season, and it's been well-documented that playing defense has a great impact on his offensive numbers. He needs to be out there so he doesn't overthink every at-bat in the dugout for 45 minutes until his next AB. If he should falter, let's be real - you can slap a 1B glove on almost anyone and get by. That's where everyone used to throw their used-up catchers ( some teams still do, right, Mike Piazza? ), 3Bs and OFs. Hell, wasn't PK a 3B before he moved over?

That is one wacky-ass show. It makes you a little afraid for humanity. I imagine a lot of calls from moss-covered huts in the woods of Montana....

Nahhh, I don't feel the need to list examples. That invitation is usually just a bait to find something to mock (which everyone has in their musical taste, by the way )... What I feel is great may be garbage to other people. That's the beauty of music - no other form of media is held as close to the heart as music is. On the topic of Led Zeppelin, it's a little like the Beatles discussion on the board - there's no denying the effect and influence they've had, but at the same time, I personally could do without the cliche "Get The Led Out" segments on rock radio and I really don't ever want to hear Stairway To Heaven ever again.
-
Two reasons I don't like Korn: Jon Davis' voice - VERY annoying, nasal and whiney That horrible bass sound they have - it sounds like the pickup is broken or like someone dropped a bunch of coins in the amplifier and they're rattling around Plus, I think their songs are horrible. Haven't heard a single one I like ( and thanks to Maury's bizarre obsession with them, I've heard WAAAAAAY more of their songs than I ever would have otherwise ). Like Cali said, if you want metal, you can do MUCH MUCH better - although I wouldn't even enter Korn into a metal discussion myself.

Lists are: Just the writer or writers' opinions A means to start debate and conversation A cheap and easy topic to fill magazine or website space

Just saw on SportsCenter that Luis Castillo has agreed to a 3-year deal to remain in Florida. Something around $15 mil for the 3 years. Nice to see that - hopefully, the Marlins can keep their nucleus intact this time.
-
Nope, we can't all agree on that. The best music of the 80s, 90s and beyond can rival the best of that era. The worst of the 60s and 70s can rival the worst music ever made. Point being, every era has had great music and horrible music, and it's all in the eyes ( or more accurately, the ears ) of the beholder. I VERY MUCH prefer the music of the 80s and 90s to the earlier era, and I AM old enough to remember both, unfortunately...

Hey, that pretty much describes The Cure, and I LOVE THE CURE, so SHUT UP DOOOOD!!!!

Small label in UK called Gut Records. They had one CD released here, on East West ( a division of WB, IIRC ) called Earth Vs. The Wildhearts, which is freakin' BRILLIANT. Other than that, all their stuff is UK only. Gut will be releasing "Riff After Riff After Motherf***ing Riff" in the US next spring, with the tour to coincide. They really are a great band, IMHO.

Here's my SlackHawks game report: For the 11th game in a row, the SlackHawks failed to win a game. For the 11th game in a row, the SlackHawks Horrible Owner failed to give a s***.

The F-ing Awesome CD of the Month in CriticVille is: "The Wildhearts Must Be Destroyed" An EXCELLENT CD of hard-edged guitar rock, veering a little toward the pop end of the spectrum but maintaining a nice gutter style at the same time. Ginger writes some of the best hard-pop tunes you'll ever hear - and they're FINALLY touring America next spring - if they don't break up AGAIN by that time. f***in' drugs....

It actually wasn't in Africa. The USA for Africa thing was different, but related. The most amazing thing about Queen's Live Aid performance was that Fred was in really poor voice that day. He couldn't hit the high notes without croaking. He played through it tremendously, though, and their set was the highlight of Live Aid for me. Also high spots of Live Aid for me: The Boomtown Rats ( I'm a GIANT fan of the Boomtown Rats, and that was the only time I got to see them perform ) Seeing Judas Priest at like 10 in the morning ( very bizarre ) U2's performance of "Bad" ( GREAT ) Oh, and regarding Scott Ian - he should probably worry more about his dead band than what categories other bands fall under. Anthrax can't sell a CD to anyone outside their families anymore, so maybe that should be a higher concern than name-calling. They were a favorite of mine way back when, but they are more famous for sharing a name with a disease now than for any recent music they've made.

Sounds like the Scrubbies method...win the worst division in football, make the playoffs and cross your fingers. Being the negative creep that I am, what's up with Edinger? He sucks ass lately!
