So Pas.....is the acne gone at least???

I always see the Orioles listed as a place for free agents every year, but they don't seem to sign many of them. Maybe they get used as bargaining chips?

WHO IS HAROLD?????? TURN IN YOUR WHITE SOX FAN CARD THIS VERY INSTANT!!!! If there is ONE person in White Sox history who can be referred to by one name, it is Harold!!!
-
If the Spankees can get Schilling and keep Pettitte, then Bart's gonna have to look elsewhere, I think. Red Sox? Braves? back here? ( I know, he's NOT coming back )

I know this is off topic, but WHY does the capital letter B turn into that sunglasses smiley?? What the HELL does B have to do with sunglasses and/or the "coolness" associated with sunglasses??? Every time somebody wants to do an A/B/C comparison on something, it looks like this: A) it sucks B) it sucks, and C) it sucks Whussupwitdat???

Twins trade AJ to SF for Joe Nathan and 2 minor leaguers http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1661751 Small-market, small-budget Minny loses another good player. Good for 'em. OOPS - didn't see the thread was already there. Sorry for double-threading, folks!!! Delete if necessary!

True in a sense, but at the same time, I would think that once addicted, any substance abusers are taking more to feed the addiction than to get the "cheap high". I would guess that the body starts to demand the drug rather than the user just recreationally using anymore. I don't think in that reagrd that it's all that different than the situation you described for Limbaugh. I'm also guessing that at some point, he REALLY liked the way it made him feel. Just a hunch... I think it's too convenient to excuse his abuse of drugs ( prescription or not ) simply for the reason that it IS a crime to illegally obtain OxyContin and that's precisely what he did ( or had his housekeeper do, anyway ).

I actually agree with Evil Lord George on this one. WHILE I DO NOT THINK Matsui should have been in consideration for ROY, the fact is that he was, and for the two writers to vote on their OWN opinion of what SHOULD be the criteria rather than the criteria handed to them as voters does an injustice to the voting at hand. They should be reprimanded for their blatant disregard of the instructions and criteria handed to them, but I don't think they should lose their voting priveleges. I think they'd probably have voted Matsui 5th if they had it to do over again, and probably would have shut their mouths about it too.

Is it too soon to get depressed? KW mentioned what "big-market teams" are going to do - GOD, that makes me sick!!!!! Sounds to me like the Sox are gonna try to dump salary and then hope they strike lightning again later in the process. Counting on the "buyers' market" to allow some decent players to drop in price. Might work, might not, but it's not exactly the stuff that "buzz" is made of.

I would love to go, but it is VERY hard for me to plan for things. Wife works every other weekend and generally doesn't want to go out after work. Work is asking for a lot of OT. And the "festive holiday season" brings many trips to Wisconsin and visits from the in-laws. So you guys have fun, and I'll lift a beer to ya!!! Besides, tailgating isn't as much fun without the blazing afternoon sun beating down on people to make them DELIRIOUS when they get drunk!!!

I don't mind being in the minority - the masses are asses. Wrigley Field has aged past its usefulness, and is cramped and uncomfortable. USCF is the runaway winner for WATCHING BASEBALL, which is what a ballpark is supposed to be all about.

You forgot the Y's. As in: VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! But I don't want him - nagging hammy problems and declining production scare me, as does the fact that BOTH middle infielders would have scary porn-star mustaches!

Even my 4-year-old is bored by the wave. I love playing the on-screen games with her ( truck races, shell game, etc. ) so I can appreciate them for the family factor, but the wave is just plain annoying. If people want to do it, fine, I guess, but I won't be joining in.

Crawford? Rose? Shut the fuck up!!
The Critic replied to moochpuppy's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
f***ing idiot Rose comes right out and SAYS that it's important to him to "...hear your name, hear what college you went to..." during introductions. Hear what college you went to - why, did you FORGET??? I guess I can't really blame Rose and Crawford personally, they're just products of an environment where the individual is all that matters, where no one GIVES loyalty or respect yet everyone EXPECTS loyalty and respect, where "respect" equals money and preferential treatment, and where they listen to everyone in their lives EXCEPT their coaches. The unselfish team-first respectful athlete is the exception rather than the rule, unfortunately...or at least it's made to look that way since the showboats are shown FAR more often than the players who just do their job. -
No, I fixed it by swearing at it for 2 days straight!! "YOU $#^%&%$@!% SOXTALK, WHY DON'T YOU #$%@&*IN' WORK ALREADY????" ...never underestimate the power of cussin'....

Wrigley is a nice piece of nostalgia, but USCF is a FAR better place to watch a baseball game. It is better in every aspect - PARKING LOTS, for one. Also better food, better sight lines, NO sitting behind posts, better scoreboard, better fans, tailgating ( see parking lots ), and so on. The ONLY thing the Decaying Confines have over USCF is that the place looks more like a ballpark, and the Sox are working on that. USCF will never dislodge Real Comiskey from the #1 spot in my heart ( it is, after all, where I saw my first game, and I'll never forget walking up to the place and smelling the cigar smoke from the guys in front of me ), but it is a DAMN nice place to see a game, and as it stands right now it's a HUNDRED TIMES better than the Decaying Confines, and only getting better.

Personally, I don't remember having a strong opinion either way. I've always felt that PK was a good hitting, slow running, decent fielding 1B. Solid, but not spectacular.

Well, as you well realize, cw, the highest upper deck seats were rarely a concern. They were usually empty anyway. I'm sure they have some long-term plans to add seating. I wouldn't be surprised ( or upset ) at all to see HR porches on both ends of the outfield. As long as it's done in a style fitting the scheme of the park ( which I am very excited about ), it's OK by me. As for the "I wish they'd revamp the team" faction, I submit that the park has detracted from the image of the White Sox even when the teams were very good, so changing the look and reputation of the park is an important step IMO. The players come and go, and will continue to do so. We all want to see a winner on the South Side, and I believe we will fairly soon. I'm just glad that MOST of the people making fun of USCF will have to shut up soon, when they'll have to admit that it's a FAR better place to see a ballgame than the Decaying Confines.

I guess I SHOULD be surprised by how low some people will sink to try to scam money from tragedy, but I'm really not surprised at all. And the family or families who "loaned out" their kids to this jackoff should also be ashamed. That is, IF they had any idea what this guy wanted their kids for.

Did anyone say they'd NEVER start again??? It's just pathetic when a head coach can't try to shake things up on a team that has lost FOUR games by 20 or more points in the first two weeks of a season! Primadonna little egomaniacs think they're above a temporary change in strategy, NOT TO MENTION that they each wound up playing 30 minutes or so. So what it boils down to is that being introduced at the beginning of the game and hugging the opposing team before the tip is more important than letting the coach try to change things up on a team that is CLEARLY underachieving to begin the season.

Bulls Being Babies... http://www.suntimes.com/output/sports/cst-...spt-bull09.html ''We were definitely scapegoats,'' Crawford said. ''I'm happy we won, but there are five people out there, so just to take two guys out, I would definitely say we're scapegoats. ''It's unfortunate there has to be two scapegoats when the team isn't playing well,'' Rose said. ''I'm disappointed, although I'm happy we won. At the end of the day, I'm a starter in this league.'' They REALLY sound "happy we won". I am SO f***in SICK of baby athletes who throw a pissy fit when the coach tries to do something to help a team! I have a feeling that these two would have either said NOTHING or said that "a change was needed" as long as it wasn't THEM who got "changed". ....f***ing babies...

I didn't go into this moron's site too deep, but two stupid things jumped out at me: 1. Can a General Manager actually SELL the team??? "General Manager (dopey sCrUB fan's name deleted) stepped down to take over the coaching duties for the 2006 team and promised to lead them to the Playoffs or he would sell the team." 2. What press release would be dated "Julyish"??? That website is sad and pathetic. Which makes it perfectly Cublike.

Well, there you go... You can put 99.9999999999999999999999997% of everything you hear on that station in the "useless garbage blah-blah" category. I don't even believe final scores if I hear it from that station.
