SnR or the Bears? Either choice we make, it's gonna be painful!!

That makes him "Carlos, No Really"?

I heard on the radio that anyone can get in free. They're asking for donations ( food, decent clothing, blankets, etc ) for the people who lost their homes in the fire.

My list is WAAAAAAAY too long to give here. I attended my first concert in 1983, so my main concert going existence was in the 80s. I still have my ticket stub books in the garage somewhere, but this is off the top of my head. A short list: Motley Crue and Saxon, 1983 Aragon Motley with Whitesnake, Horizon ( now Allstate Arena ) Metallica 4 times between 83 and 89 Van Halen with Hagar 86 Scorpions INXS Slayer 4 times Rush twice Suicidal Tendencies 88 Cubby Bear Guns N Roses/Skid Row 89 Stray Cats Angel City too many more to mention Also saw many comedy shows, including Steven Wright Dennis Miller Andrew Dice Clay Sam Kinison Bill Hicks If I can ever find my ticket book, I'll list the insane amount of shows I went to. But I still have my hearing, even without earplugs!!

It's a tough situation for me to decide - every good veteran manager had to get his start somewhere, and maybe Oz will turn out to be a good one. This team needs a kick in the pants, but they probably won't respect a young manager enough to respond, no matter how energetic the young guy is. Cito has WS rings and that may be good enough to gain respect from the players, but is his attitude different enough from JM's to make them respond to him? It's weird - this team has enough good players to be optimistic about next year, but there are enough holes to be really pessimistic too. Life as a Sox fan....either the glass is half-empty, or it's cracked...

Ahhh, time stands still in those states anyway...or at least it feels like it... Old joke: Doctor: I'm afraid you have 6 months to live... Patient: OH MY GOD, Doc, isn't there anything I can do??? Doctor: Yes, move to Indiana right away. Patient: I don't understand, how will that help me live longer? Doctor: It won't, but 6 months will feel like FOREVER there!!! To my great and good Indiana friends....AY'M YOOST KEEEDEEEEENG!!!

I apologize for not being as basic in my thread title as I obviously needed to be, or maybe people need to read the thread before they post. Well, PA, the term "old school" is so overused these days, I can't blame people for jumping to the wrong conclusion. Also, just in my OWN case, I didn't really like that movie, so I wouldn't recognize any of those quotes without having them spelled out for me. But I DID understand the point of the thread right away...but I am REALLY REALLY intelligent, so there ya go...

With the labor battle coming up, don't look for the Hawks to sign anyone of any real impact. I'd be STUNNED if they signed anyone worth signing. This season is being sacrificed in order to see if "The Kids Can Play", and I don't really have a problem with that. As long as Sutter can keep them playing hard, and figure out a way to get a little OFFENSE from them, I'd prefer to see kids over half-assed veteran washouts like Housley, Odelein, Fleury, etc etc. I just wish they'd hang onto the good young players when it's time to PAY them!

....AND CONFUSION REIGNED SUPREME!!! Perhaps in the title line, the words "Old School" should have both been capitalized and placed in quotation marks, so people would know for sure that you meant "quotes from the movie OLD SCHOOL" and NOT "quotes from old-school movies"??? The gist of this thread is for people to post their favorite lines from the movie Old School, starring Vince Vaughn and Will Farrell.

Bank on it being Sunday, November 2nd at noon Central, since I can't make it that day ( fall softball playoffs and BBQ afterwards ). SnR....Anger Management For Sox Fans Everywhere....We Get Pissed Off, So You Don't Have To!!!

Oz is pimpin' HARD for the job! As long as he had a veteran baseball guy as his bench coach/right hand man, I'd personally have no problem with him as the new manager. I just wonder how he'd react to the veterans ignoring him? Or rather, how management would ALLOW him to react??

Nuke, I don't have any on the PC right now, but I'll try to get some set up and I'll let you know. Otherwise, listen to the season-ending SnR show - I think Maury's gonna play some of them, and I *may* show up for the show, if we can come up with a good broadcast time.

Thanks, Murc! I actually have tried to do a Tallon impression, but his voice is kinda tough to get. It's not deep, but it's not high, and there's no real defining thing to it. Stone is real nasal, so that was easy to catch for me. I have a feeling a Tallon impression would consist of crying for 10 minutes about a tripping call against the Hawks, and then saying "ooooh, we might have caught a break" when the other team got called for tripping. It just pisses me off that they let Gardner go when he's LIGHT YEARS better than Tallon. Oh, and Tallon should try to talk about golf more!! s***, it happens every game - "...and Dempsey golfs one out of the zone - HEY, SPEAKING OF GOLF, I PLAYED..." ...ugh...

Correction: Josh Beckett is the MUTHAf***IN' M.V.P.!!!!!!!!!
-
The Marlins have earned MUCH respect for winning it all, and doing it in the BEST possible fashion: 1. Sending Asshole Barry Bonds home 2. Making the sCrUBS choke in MONUMENTAL style 3. Beating the Evil Empire and proving that buying a team doesn't always work FLORIDA MARLINS - 2003 MLB CHAMPIONS!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! And once again.....Josh Beckett is the f***IN' MAN!!!!!!

Hair bands were NOT metal, by the way... Not then, not now, not ever. Having suffered through that period, I have MUCH residual hatred for that crap.

that's a very tough question. I can only whittle it down to a short list This Means War by Tank Take A Long Line by Angel City ( the Angels to our Aussie friends ) Low by Testament Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy Disconnected by Face To Face the list changes every day...
-
"Angel Of Death" or "I Hate You" by Slayer "You Can't Bring Me Down" by Suicidal Tendencies "Creeping Death" by Metallica ...of course, I also listen to any of these when i'm in a good mood...

Despite the famous collapse in Game 6 of the NLCS, Mark Prior is still clearly the best young pitcher in baseball, IMHO.

BUH BYE, MIKE SMITHOV!!! WE HARDLY KNEW YA!!!
The Critic replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Sun-Times this morning reports that the last straw was the fact that Smithov was trying to use the beat writers to suggest that Sutter needed to be fired. REAL CLASSY MOVE, YOU ASSWIPE! Pulford apparently went to the writers to confirm and then dropped the ax. What kind of f***ing lowlife would stoop to that level? I guess we found out. Good luck getting another NHL job with THAT on your resume, Mikey. -
Is that Steve McMichael??? Nope, too thin...

I really like my MusicMatch player. Easy to use, and I keep a HUGE playlist on it.

Pully's son-in-law would have a better chance than most, though... "DAD-DEEEEEEEE, Dean really really REALLY needs to make this traaaaaaaade!!!" "Ummmm.....uhhhhhhh.....well, um.....okay, honey......uhhhhhh......" BYE BYE Smithov, you arrogant little prick!! Your defining acquisition was THEO FLEURY!!!!! AHHHH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! -
( using the bad Johnny Carson voice ) " I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!!" That's kinda pathetic, but that is the reality of today's sports world. Can't fire the millionaires, so the coach has to go...
