Absolutely correct. REM was very very good in the early 80s. South Central Rain is still one of my favorite songs. I soured on them around the Shiny Happy People time. Haven't paid much attention to them in a decade or so.

That's where I was starting on that thought! Then over to Bicycle Race...and so on.... ...and TRY playing Bohemian Rhapsody for your nephews without them laughing and imitating Wayne's World...

Queen was a band whose best stuff was fantastic and whose worst stuff was embarrassingly bad. You can make a TERRIFIC "best of" Queen disc, but you could also scare the kids away with some of the cheesy stuff they recorded. Mercury had a very distinct voice, and was a very fun performer to watch. You could tell that he really loved what he did.

Matinee game for the Hawks

ONE POINT out of a possible 12 on the November Death March. Where's that stupid "First Place BlackHawks" thread NOW? Foley just said the old "they're clearly playing better than their record would indicate" excuse/wishful thinking line. Yeah, they're playing better than their record - just not playing better than ANY OPPONENT in the last few weeks!!! Sad sad sad.... Last-minute consolation goal by Calder.....WHOOPDEE DOOOOOOO. -
That team ain't going anywhere until someone NOT named Wirtz owns it. Those kids are just playing "good cop" until the old man either hands the team over to them or dies. Then you will see that THEY TOO know how Daddy buttered their bread, and they'll show themsleves to be Mini-Me's of that old f***. The LackHawks are on a treadmill to oblivion. Their management has no imagination, no incentive to get better and worst of all, they DON'T f***ING CARE. Their team has been a s***hole for at least 5 years, their season-ticket base is at what now - 600??? They are all but forgotten on the local sports scene, and they're STILL worth almost 200 mil? That's all that drunk-ass Matlock lookalike needs to see to think he's doing things the right way. Pathetic...

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit! It's dark, it's angry, it's depressed, it's vulgar and it's funny. Mrs. Critic did NOT enjoy it as much as I did, but she's a lot nicer person than I am! If anyone takes their kid to this movie, if the kid is NOT yet a teenager, they should be punched in the face. This is the OPPOSITE of a children's movie!! I have a feeling that this will be one of those movies I have to watch every time I am channel-surfing and I happen to stumble across it on HBO or something.

John Cangelosi, anyone? It's called a AAAA player - too good for AAA, not good enough for the bigs. Although Cangelosi did have a decent rookie season...

I changed the dialect to Cockney and was VERY pleased to see my name as "The bloody Critic"!! Also enjoyed seeing "Guvner Showtime" - HA!

WOW, cw, calling ME out as musically impaired?????? FOR SHAME!!!!! Just for the sake of clarity, let me reiterate what I said earlier about the Beatles: "With all due respect, and I DO respect their accomplishments, I don't care if I ever hear the Beatles again." Just saying... And for further point of my "musical impairment", let me list the following items from my Collection Of Crap: Love Me Do 7" single on VeeJay Records Introducing the Beatles LP ( since disappeared ) Rock and Roll Music double vinyl lp ( since disappeared ) Beatles 1962-1966 double vinyl LP Beatles 1967-1970 double vinyl LP ( bought both again on CD for the Mrs. ) Yesterday....and Today LP ( which contains my favorite Beatles song, And Your Bird Can Sing ) Let It Be LP ( since disappeared ) Abbey Road CD Magical Mystery Tour CD Just because I don't want to hear them again does NOT mean I never wanted to hear them at all...and YES, that's a lot of albums I don't listen to anymore - with the exception of And Your Bird Can Sing.

When Thibault was in net. Not saying it was the goaltending since then, but that's the last time they won. They seem to be giving up a lot of late goals, though, and that may be a reflection on the rookie goalies.

...their court case about their in-house scalping service, that is. Once again, the sCrUBS win at the only thing they can win at - ripping off their customers! Unbelievable to me that a judge could find it legal for a sports team to own a scalping agency, outfit that agency with a direct printer from their ticketing computer, have the agency buy over a million bucks' worth of tickets when the agency's books showed a total of 1,000 bucks to its name, and sell first-sale tickets ( that is to say, tickets NO ONE ELSE had an opportunity to purchase, since they were direct-printed ) at whatever price they chose. But she did find it legal, so look for JR to set up an agency. Note to JR - there has to be a MARKET for those tickets if you want to hike the price!!

I think he's "being made a scapegoat". Rose and Crawford As long as THAT kind of wahhh-wahhh me-first attitude exists on the team, no coach will make any difference, because the crybabies won't let him try any lineup changes without pissing and moaning.

North....to Wisconsin...to the in-laws.... ...mmmmmm......cheeeeeeeese.......

Both ESPN radio and The Snore are reporting that Cartwright got the boot today. Pete Myers will fill in until a replacement is named. Due by week's end, they speculate. Doc Rivers, I speculate.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1669704 He needs a kidney transplant and will retire from the NBA. He was a good enough player, but the promise is left unfulfilled.

Yep, cuz Madonna certainly would never use nude pictures of herself as a marketing tool! I don't know if it's "time yet" for Spears to hit the pages of Playboy, but at her rate of media attention, and given the mediocre-at-best level of her music, I'd think her shelf life is gonna be fairly short. Hard for me to believe she'd need the money if she otherwise wouldn't pose, though.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1664773 Hernandez and Long for Kotsay. I think the Pads get the better of this deal. Very short blurb, not many details.

I'd roll on her all Big Pimpin Style and step like this: "YO YO Honey, 'sup? Check out mah RIPPIN' Schwinn! Yeah, that's a JOSE VALENTIN baseball card makin' ALL! THAT! RACKET!! So yo PRINCESS, whatchoo say you hop up on deez handlebarrrrz and we flow on over to the MAC and grab you ANYTHANG you want off dat Dolla MenYoo?" I think that would flesh out whether she likes you or not...

Man, that bag of pucks is gonna come in handy during practice!! Honestly, I haven't even clicked the link yet.... Okay, I clicked it.............that bag of Stephane Robidas is gonna come in handy during practice.... -
And here goes Heather again with her "stalker/hater" relationship with SnR!! Get off the fence, girl!! Choose your side!!!

Oh, Ian, you little tattletale!! GOTTA be the first one with "the scoop", don'tcha??? "OOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh YEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeaaaahhhhh"

Then he should BUCK THE TREND ( just like he bucked the "sign pitchers to 3-year-deals" trend or the "sign impact free agents" trend )! The AL Central is going to be more winnable this year than the past few, with Minny downsizing and Cleveland not grown up yet. KC will also make it interesting, but the Sox SHOULD have more financial strength than freaking Kansas City, Missouri. The lesson JR SHOULD be learning from the Marlins is NOT that a 50 mil payroll can win the World Series. The lesson IS that if you mix youth and experience, power, speed and pitching, and homegrown and outside players, you can get into the playoffs. Once you're there, anything CAN happen. I'm not telling anyone anything they don't already know, but I'm tired of the Sox ignoring the obvious.

Would've been a long season, even if Thibault hadn't gotten hurt. Even if Shamnov and Little Big Man hadn't gotten hurt. There's just not enough consistent offense to be a threat. There's some hope for the future, with the young guys. Except, of course, for the fact that Bill Worst gets rid of anyone and everyone when it's time to pay them...
-
If he does, it would prove that Bill Wirtz owned the school!! That school system is going to PAY UP when the lawsuits fly. And it will be a "valuable experience" for them too....
