Maybe the Sox are "cursed", or maybe they're just unlucky or just haven't been good enough in a long time. But sCrUBBIE NATION is different because they LOVE to be cursed. They LOVE the notion of a MAGIC GOAT or an EVIL FAN or whatever else. They live for that s***, it's part of their identity. Legendary failure is still legendary, after all, right? If you're gonna fail, might as well fail HISTORICALLY. The BEST part about this is that FINALLY silence will prevail at my work. I'm not gonna rub it in....at least not yet...I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the "postgame show" that I've had to sit through for the past couple of weeks. They asked me on Wednesday who I thought would win Game 7 and THIS is what I said: "While I think Wood is a very good pitcher, he hasn't had one of those wild, bad mechanics games he's known for in a long time. If I'm Florida, I'd rather face Wood tonight than Zambrano, because Zambrano has had 4 of 5 bad outings in a row and he's due for a good one. I think I prefer the way the Sox faded instead of the legendary failure of the 2003 sCrUBS. Sure, their fans had some fun for a few weeks messing with Sox fans, but ultimately the Sox faithful will be able to simply add 2003 to the other years that torment all of CubDumb. Whaddya think? There are some Sox fans who cheer for the Cubs, and that's okay. I have no problem with consistent cross-cheering. Maybe I'm wrong for that, but it just doesn't bug me if someone enjoys both brands of ball ( NL and AL ). It's the pathetic front-running sheep, who are so depserate to be part of something that they jump on any bandwagon that rolls by, that bug me. It's THAT type of "Sox fan" who would scurry up to a reporter and crow on and on about wanting the Cubs to win, "for the city", or some such s***.

If they did manage to choke these last 2 games ( and let's all hope they do ), this team would become the most beloved sCrUB team in history. That's the way their retarded, backward alternate universe works. A World Series win would be cheered wildly for the offseason and then it will sink in - they will have LOST THEIR IDENTITY. EVERYTHING in their Bizarro World revolves around failure, around losing: The Tribute To Failure sign across the street. The Goat. The 1969 team. The 1984 team. Ron Santo. MR. CUB, Ernie Banks, "The Greatest Player NEVER To Win The World Series". The "Lovable Losers". If they win, they become the Anaheim Angels or the Arizona Diamondbacks, which is to say, they become NOTHING SPECIAL. There will be NO dream, no Holy Grail. It will ALL be OVER. The bluehairs in Iowa will have no reason to journey to Mecca anymore. Among intelligent sCrUB fans ( a vanishing breed, but they DO exist ), expectations will replace hope, and those expectations will NOT be met. Then the STING of failure will be felt, instead of the aura and mystique of failure. Little do they realize, that what they cheer for is actually what they want the least. They will lose their only claim to uniqueness, their only attraction, the ONLY thing that makes them "special, long-suffering Cubbie Lovers". and THAT is the only good thing that can come of a HIGHLY UNLIKELY World Series championship.

Regarding Murcie's family - my family's thoughts and prayers go out to your Grandma recovering fully and to your family for strength in dealing with a very sad situation. Regarding Romanplosion - good riddance to bad rubbish. He added nothing to anything, in my opinion. I hope he grows up someday, but I'm glad this board will not have to put up with his juvenile hateful spew until he does.

Didn't see the whole game, obviously ( :fyou Bill Worst ), but the Kings' 3rd goal was VERY VERY soft. Trickled through Thibault and was tapped in while he was swimming. This team cannot afford to get off to a bad start. There's not enough offense to give up softies to a so-so team like LA. ....growing pains....
