  1. Cuban better go out and buy more basketballs, cuz there won't be enough on the floor for that team now. Add to it the fact that Walker is a HORRIBLE shooter and I don't think this trade helps the Mavericks at all.
  2. Ya well he is better than Alpo Suhunon. :fyou Still woulda been funny to see a coach named Alpo with a player named Lasse...
  3. Speaking of WS stuff that never got used... Here's the line I was using at my softball game on Sunday: "AHHHHH, you can tell it's officially FALL by the smell of burning Cubbie NL Champions t-shirts and caps!!!" Can't burn leaves legally anymore, so that'll have to do....hahahahaaaaaa.....
  4. Man, that sucks. Road Warriors were a BIG favorite back in the AWA days. Can't say I'm surprised, though. Now I'll just wait for the story about Scott Hall - unfortunately, he seems headed down the same road.

    Pumpkin

Does anyone remember "Last Comic Standing"? That pumpkin looks like Ralphie May when he wore that orange hooded sweatshirt!
  6. I remember reading somewhere that J-Ho demanded that her ass be reduced and her chest enhanced for the Gigli posters. Yeah, THAT was the problem with that movie...THE POSTERS....

    SNL

I don't like the new cast. They have a couple of funny people ( Amy Poehler is my favorite of this cast ) but the writing has been awful and I don't enjoy the amount of "cracking each other up" that goes on during skits, especially skits with Sanz and Fallon. It might be time to pull the plug on SNL.
  8. I have no problem with it - while it may be seen as a device to have people ask you to stay, it can also be ( and I think it is ) a call to bring up a problem and to show the mods that the problem might be chasing people away. Quiet exits would not shed light on any potential problems. Personally, it's not my style to announce my exit, I'd probably just leave and then lurk once in a while to see if what bothered me is still happening.

    NOTICE......

Please please PLEEEEEEEEEASE let this entire situation be a lesson to EVERYONE on this board that it matters NOT ONE BIT what people do in their personal lives, and to NEVER attack another poster personally. This board gives me a lot of enjoyment, but it's no secret that people have been leaving here voluntarily due to the increased anger and hatred among SOME posters. My main hope is that the people who've left on their own will reconsider and return when they see that the bile and venom spewed by some of the banned is gone. I will miss cwsox, I feel that he tried his best to keep things on a positive note. While I can understand somewhat the feelings some of you have that he was a hypocrite, I think that life makes you reconsider and re-adjust your thinking sometimes, and we all go through that to some degree. What you thought and felt 10 years ago or 1 year ago or even last month may not necessarily be what you think or feel today. Doesn't necessarily make you a hypocrite, might just mean you've learned something or experienced something that made you rethink your position. I will NOT miss bmr, clujer or roman. I feel that they brought an angry, demeaning and self-superior tone to their posts and were eager to engage in arguments and attacks. I have a hard time thinking of ONE interesting thing I ever read from any of them. Again, I appreciate this board and the work and expense it takes to run it. The board deserves better than it's been given lately, and we can all try our best to keep the discourse at a respectful level while still having fun with things. Thanks for reading this - I feel better for posting it.
  10. I hope you reconsider, wino. If stupidity and hatred is allowed to chase away the sensible folks, then only the stupid and hateful will remain. Unfortunately, the offseason seems to be the time when the boredom causes the true colors to be shown. Wino, you are one of the better, funnier and cooler people on this board, and I really hope you change your mind.
  11. 1. I feel less uneasy when Harris is in CF. I don't think he has good instincts, and CF lets you use your speed to correct mistakes more easily than 2B does. 2. There's been nothing to indicate that he'll ever be any better than a AAA player. He's still young but I haven't seen any better pitch recognition or patience at the plate. IF he could develop a more patient approach and take more walks, then obviously his base-stealing opportunities would increase, but I really think that's wishful thinking at this point. The Sox HAD to have addressed that with him in the past couple of years, and he hasn't improved ( at least not at the ML level ). I don't think he's a long-range factor in the White Sox future.
  12. Just another note: It's really cool to see some of the Wolves playing up in Atlanta. The Wolves play the game the right way, and I hope those guys like Pasi Nurminen ( sp? ) and JP Vigier have some success at the NHL level. 5-1 Thrashers....looks like a thrashing to me. Thibault has a seat - Leighton gets to play in front of the Keystone Kops for a while.
  13. I never thought they'd be a Cup contender this year. I thought with a little luck they MIGHT sneak into the playoffs. What I'm disappointed with so far is the lack of aggressiveness. They look lost much of the time, and they have ZERO offense. I expected that, but I was HOPING that someone would step up and force the play in the offensive zone. 3-1 at the end of the first - Sullivan scores in the last minute of the period on a short-handed breakaway.
  14. Halfway through the first period. Hawks look AWFUL. Not hitting anyone, scrambling around, disorganized. This is NOT the team I got excited about in the preseason. ...ugh...
  15. ...and so is his column! Mariotti is trash journalism, easy cheap opinions designed to shift 180 degrees in a blink of an eye. Stupid low-rent blathering that isn't worth the paper it's printed on. I'd wish for him to leave, but EVERY newspaper has one of these f***tards, so if it wasn't him it would be someone else, and maybe the next guy wouldn't have that funny Western Pennsylvania "Elmer Fudd speech impediment" that's so much fun to hear.
  16. Lofton once again exposes himself for the me-first asswipe he's always been. Not saying he's wrong that Mr. July had s***ty atbats in that final game, but Lofton's only yapping because he had a RARE good postseason. He also blamed............you guessed it...........THE MEDIA for reminding everybody about The Curse and the 95 years and all that. YEP, that's why the sCrUBS choked - because of THE MEDIA! Shut THEEEEE f*** Up, Lofton. Please leave town so I don't have to see you in my newspaper anymore!
  17. That's one damn short movie...what, it would last all of say, 10 seconds? well, the actual EVENT would last 10 seconds, but then they follow Foul Ball Guy around amidst the death threats and bar fights and HILARITY ENSUES!!!
  18. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...leisure_cubs_dc Apparently, Kevin James is writing a script loosely based on the Foul Ball Guy. Not surprised...
  19. Welcome SCWIBLE, you scwewy wabbit!! I REALLY enjoyed it when Hysteriotti's feed broke down, and Dan Patrick seemed amused by it too. He said something like "Well, that WAS Jay Mariotti..." with that patented Dan Patrick smirk on his face.
  20. Won a mediocre NL Central. Would not have won ANY other division in MLB with the record they earned. Had the worst winning percentage of any team in the playoffs. Beat a fading, aging Braves team in the NLDS. Choked vs. a young, rising team in Florida. Did they achieve some good things? No doubt. Did they do more than the 2003 Sox? Absolutely. Was it ALL luck? No. Was there a LOT of luck involved? I think so. Does that make Dusty Ditka a good manager? Not necessarily. There were some very weird decisions made, especially in Game 7. The two most obvious were the lack of ANYONE warming up when Kid L was running out of gas and the decision to pitch to the Alex Gonzalez who CAN get key hits when Beckett is standing in the on-deck circle and there are 2 outs. Baker did not give his team the best chance to win that seventh game, and it exposed some of his weaknesses as well as the team's.
  21. If he overworks them like that every year, he will cut their careers short. Dusty Ditka - long on motivation, short on gameplan.
  22. Maybe Torre really wants to manage here and thinks that tinkering is the way to JR's heart!
  23. Whaddya mean "NOW"? How bout "ever since EVER"? I had some concern that if they got there, they'd find a way to win the whole thing. With the starting pitching they have ( until they all got overused - THANKS, DUSTY! ), they can potentially take any series. But in the end, it came down to Cubs Simply Being Cubs and all is right with the world again...
  24. Out of those four choices, I selected Corky McBatstuffer - I can still see him trying to disappear into the dugout so no one could find the little cheater.
