I bet half the guys who responded either already knew or didn't care!!

The sCrUBS are indeed America's Team. Unfortunately, America has become a country where the easy sound bite is king, where image is everything, where peer pressure controls all, where popularity is more important than ability, and where front-running and going along with the latest fad is encouraged and celebrated. Of course a team with Muppets like Dusty Baylor ( with omnipresent "lucky toothpick" - props are a bonus ) and ShamME Sofa ( if you're only going to hit one ball a week, make it a LONG BALL and no one will notice the 14 strikeouts with runners in scoring position ) would be "America's Team". They represent everything that's wrong with America. They are fast food. They are trash TV. They are a circus.

He's already arbitration eligible. The Cardinals are waiting for free agency. I hope the Sox change their tactic and sign MB long-term.

Dallas and New York had them last year, I was praying we whould have them. They showed them RIGHT after Arnie's goal, for like 2 sec. but they looked GOOD. Props to Wirtz on that one. HAHA I'm CERTAIN that Worst isn't paying them!! "As long as that f***ing rum company pays them...AND ME...then let the broads entertain!!"

I'll tell you what the sCrUB postseason run has done for me - it's erased any interest in the NL playoffs. I have watched ZERO NL playoff ball except for the late innings of the Marlins games with the Giants. I have watched most of the Red Sox games and a little Spankee Twinkee action - although not much because I dislike both teams. I will watch the Red Sox take down the Evil Empire ( with Princess Leia Ortiz ) but I have absolute ZERO interest in watching the LLs. If the sCrUBS are somehow in the WS, I will not watch. I have no interest whatsoever in watching them play....none.

Yep, stupid move by Big Dust. Although I can understand his reluctance to use that crap bullpen they have, you have to be able to hand them a double-digit lead safely. Just hope that over-use comes back to haunt them. And maybe I'm crazy, but Jesus looked A LITTLE more hittable than I've seen him in a while, from the little portion of the game I watched. The fastball wasn't tailing or moving much, and he was in trouble a few times in the game. The Marlins just didn't get that key hit when they needed it. Could Jesus be hitting that fatigue "wall" now, instead of a few weeks ago like he might have without that brief DL stint?

The commentators were saying that Sutter has vowed to use Thibault in around 50 games this year. We'll see.... The Hawks NEED a bunch of wins from their backup ( whether it's Leighton or Andersson....or Passmore? ) if they even DREAM of the 8th playoff spot. If the Wild have Gaborik and/or Dupuiy they probably win that game. Hawks didn't look all that good last night, but the W does.

I have faith in the scrappy marlins I really truly honestly hope your faith is rewarded!!!! GO FISH!!!!! Maybe the Fish can win if Jesus Prior loafs.......sorry, that was too cheap and easy too....Jesus....Fishes....Loaves....UGH to me...

I heard on Mike and Mike this morning that a survey showed that 80% of people who'd be interested in watching a game that started at 4pm Eastern Time would not have access to a television at that time. This must have a LOT to do with their decision. I don't really care - I generally flip back and forth to a bunch of stuff anyway and stick with whatever's most interesting. Besides, they'll show you anything important or interesting on those Game Breaks anyhow.

At my job we have a few TVs and they switch over to WGN for the noon news. Cub fan walks past yesterday and YELLS, "Oh MY GOD, is the GAME ON NOW????" .....( sigh )......

Thing is his kids are taking over the Hawks when he dies. Nothing is going to change. From what I've heard/read(and I am by no means 100% confident in this info), Wirtz's sons are supposedly nothing like dollar bill, and are almost embarrassed by the way their dad runs the show. My guess ( and that's all this is ) is that the kids are playing Good Cop to Billy Buck's Bad Cop, and when he dies they will revert to their evil selves.

I read that as sarcasm. Perhaps I'm wrong though. After the garbage I've read on this board lately, nothing would surprise me. I took it to be a way for him to say it without looking like it was his thought.

I don't know which is right or wrong, but I just HATE to see a category get shut out.

I'm going to blame the sCrUBS for this!! They win JUST A LITTLE and the whole world goes goofy!!! Seriously, I don't know how SOME people on the board got so mean-spirited and happy to offend, but it is really sad to watch. I don't know if these angry few are just trying to push buttons or if they really are this bitter, biased and hateful, and I don't really care to find out. I'm not going to avoid the boards, or even the Off Topic Board, because there are often VERY interesting discussions on every board. It's just very disappointing to see this kind of stuff happen. Please hang around, Eye, because you bring a lot of good discussion to the boards.

The Marlins may have blown the 97 team up, but they sure got back to serious contention in a hurry! Must give them credit for that. They rebuilt a lot faster than "other teams" who let the kids play... Oh, and Ron Santo is a dips***. A good-natured dips*** who means well, but a dips*** nonetheless. And a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE broadcaster, who adds less to a broadcast than anyone except maybe Joe Carter. I was hoping they would have let him into the Hall Of Fame ( even though I think his numbers are borderline at best ) JUST so I wouldn't have to hear or read about it anymore. He was a very good major-league 3B, but I'm not entirely convinced that very good is enough for the Hall Of Fame.

Although this is going to open me up for MANY beatdown posts, I must admit that the Red Wings are my second-favorite NHL team. The Hawks have always been my favorite, through thick, thin and lately, and they're easily my favorite Chicago sports team ( if only because hockey is EASILY my favorite sport ), but ever since I've been watching hockey my Top Four teams have been: Blackhawks Red Wings Flyers Bruins Just to make things clear, when the Hawks play any of the other Top Four teams, I NEVER root against Chicago.
