Detroit avoids infamy
Congrats to the Tigers on rallying to keep out of the record books. Gutsy effort by Detroit.

Suffer No More
Daubach cannot go away SOON ENOUGH. I really thought he would help off the bench. What a pile of SUCK he has been. GO AWAY Daubach.

Magic Number 200
Loaiza's not the best pitcher in Chicago, but he has had the best season. Congratulations to Esteban and BEST OF LUCK to keep it up NEXT year!!! Number 21!!!!

But then Willie Harris would have to give up his number AGAIN. Unfortunately, number 12 will probably be available again...

White Sox 2004 lineup?
I don't feel that way at all. The Central division is not that strong at all, and if/when the Twins lose a few guys because of money issues, they will come back a little bit. The Royals have to prove that they weren't a fluke, and their pitchers aren't scary at all. The Indians have a ways to go yet, they're going to be good, just maybe not next year. The Tigers are the Tigers. If the Sox can ( pardon the expression ) TINKER with the roster to add some On-Base kind of guys while keeping enough bang in the order, they can certainly stay competitive. There's no reason to think otherwise, given the guys who are likely to return. The Sox are not as good as we thought in August and they're not as bad as we think now.

I'd be surprised if LaRussa (1) is let go and (2) comes back here. Not really against it, but Tony has been making some weird decisions the past couple fo years, so I'm wondering if he's losing interest. Guillen would be an interesting move, but another novice? Don't know if that's the way to go, either. ( But I have a feeling that the Sox WILL hire a novice... ) Bell or Gaston are proven commodities, you kinda know what you're getting with either of them. Gaston has led teams to titles before, so I'd be comfortable with him, I guess. I don't know who would be a sure-fire exciting manager to bring in, though.

One More Reason Tony Pena is a Better Manager
But you know if the Sox did that, there would be a certain % of people saying that was a selfish move, not team-oriented, etc etc blah blah blah... Can't win for losing sometimes...but I personally think it's a nice gesture.

I agree with this. I think the Phillies would be so happy to be rid of that psycho f***head Bowa, that they would THRIVE under the laid-back JM style. This Sox team is not suited for a laid-back leader. They have proven that without someone in their faces, they fall into a slumber WAY too easily.

Sox
Do you realize how far back in the sports section JM's firing would be in Tuesday's paper? It will be two pages behind the story about the ScRUB's ground crew's pregame rituals. Gotta happen on Monday or after the Braves eliminate the LL's. As far as the NY/MN series, my solution is not to watch, then cheer for the winner of the BOS/OAK series to beat whoever wins the NY/MN series.

Download the Tomahawk Chop
I won't be watching the Cubs. Will probably only watch the A's - Red Sox series, since they're the only teams I like in the playoffs. Kinda like the Marlins, but can't stand Barry "Please Pitch To My Daddy" Bonds, so I'll pass.

Manuel's Replacement
"other things" including being stuck in left field to make room for light-hitting Ron Karkovice...

Cubs clinch NL Central
Not even close. The Cubs still have to get through Atlanta, FLA/SF, and the AL Champions. So no need for Satan to buy a parka....
-
The "get your mind of the Cubs" thread
So you're saying you want a stalker??? I know a couple guys who had those....it's not good, to tell you the truth... even if she's good looking...the craziness takes over and you just want to escape. They end up keying your car and calling at 3am every night and hanging up. Best of luck in NOT turning yourself on, by the way...

Hawks on TV tonight
HEY, IT'S FINALLY f***ING ON!!!!!! ...must've finally gotten the equipment guy and the team bus driver's interviews over with and could finally leave the clubhouse over at Chewing Gum Park...
-
Hawks on TV tonight
I think Nikolishin is gone. Arnason is still there ( I think that's the rookie you're thinking of ). You are going to be hearing a lot about the new guys in a year or two...unless there's some "alternate programming" blacking them out.

Favirote Sox Closer
None Of The Above? The Sox have never had a closer who really excited me. Thigpen had the great season, but I was never really relaxed when he came in. The lasting memory I have of him is a Lee Stevens 9th inning grand slam off him - it's NOT good when that's your lasting memory of a guy. I like Marte, and I hope the Sox let him close for a while.

Hawks on TV tonight
So now this overcelebration of 1/8 of playoff participation is going to blackout the Hawks, too? I hope they talk to EVERY SINGLE sCrUB when they get eliminated, too....at least THAT will be worth watching...
-
Crede's Crew
Probably bought tickets in August, when we all thought this series would matter...
-
This is insulting
insightful...
-
On the bright side.........
The Sox game is the only thing that matters to me, so I'm happy with what's going on today. It's annoying to think about the oversaturation this minor blip of sCrUB success is going to receive, but I have a remote and I know how to use it!

Cubs clinch NL Central
Screw that, Santo is at the top of my list for most hated cubs at this point.... God I hate him... Yeah, Santo's a jackass. It'd be funny to watch him crying when they raise his tiny little banner up the pole at the same time they lift the Comedy Central Division championship flag. He may just pass on..........his sCrUBBIES have achieved 1/8th of this year's playoff participation........life is now complete..........he might get so happy he just throws his wig away.........
-
Houston blew it
Must credit the Brewers for giving a f*** and not rolling over, though. Unlike CIN and NYM, who put their AAA guys out there to take their beatings and just ATE it. PIT tried, but they just aren't that good.
-
This is insulting
And if your opinion mattered, maybe that would somehow hurt...HA...
-
Cubs clinch NL Central
All this means is that I don't watch the NL playoffs, because the only team I like ( FLA ) has ZERO chance of advancing, unfortunately. It'll be nice to be able to focus on the AL playoffs.

This is insulting
Sorry if the condescending attitude doesn't feel as good coming in as it does going out, bmr31...LMAO...
