  1. Anybody have any idea how Sirotka did this year? Did he pitch at all? I have not heard ONE WORD about him this year. I liked him a lot and I really hope he can come back, EVEN if it's for the Lovable Losers.
  2. I thought he was already gone.... So where's his next PB&J sandwich coming from, then???

Am I one of the CERTAIN Soxtalk members? I don't know you, but there's only 1 person on this board who's ever talked of driving 105mph while drunk, so that was my reference. If you do that, please don't.
  4. I agree that middle to bottom ( is there really a TOP in either division? ), the NL Central is worse than the AL Central. At least none of the AL Central teams gutted themselves willingly this season.
  5. True that the Sox and Twins are hot in the 2nd half. Also true that both had AWFUL first halves. Also true that NONE of the teams in contention in either Central division would be higher than 3rd in any other division in MLB. Sounds pitiful to me, since the season isn't chopped into two equal halves.
  6. The term "Comedy Central" applies to BOTH Central divisions.
  7. I agree, pitching Milton doesn't seem too wise. Hope it blows up in their faces. Like everything else they try this year.
  8. losses = angry posts angry posts = angry responses angry responses = online fights online fights = 24+ pages of course, some of the most bitter threads started after the Sox started winning, so maybe my formula is flawed....
  9. I think he'd kick ass as either. I wish he'd take the manager's seat at USCF, but I don't think he wants to manage. He'd also be a great pitching coach, obviously.
  10. Saw in the paper today that Stone is interested in buying the expos and moving them to Vegas. He would also probably assume the role of GM. Maybe the sCrUBS could bring back Joe Carter to announce with Chimp! I think he'd be a very good GM - he knows the game inside and out and has a great passion for it. I also think Vegas would be a GREAT place for a MLB franchise - think many out-of-towners would go THERE for a road trip??? I know I'D want to see some interleague Sox vs Expos games in Sin City!!! So what would they be called, the Sexpos? The Ex-Ho's? The Sexxxos?
  11. If the Astros can take care of St. Louis, as they have so far, and take 2 of 3 from SF, they get in, IMO. The Cubs are squeaking past a HORRIBLE Cincinnati team right now, and their bullpen ( minus Borowski ) is as scary as ever. When they face teams with even MARGINAL major-league players ( and NOT the minor league Cincy lineup ) they can be in trouble. Look at how they played against Montreal and you see the potential demise. They have GREAT 1-3 starters ( well, maybe Wood isn't great, but he is very good ) and a decent 4 and 5 ( when the 5 is Cruz ), and a sporadic offense. They might get in, but they wouldn't scare any decent team with the off-and-on offense they have. SamME is a big-game and big-situation choker unless it's his 7th at-bat of the game, and the knuckles will get mighty white when the spotlight is bright for Ramirez, Simon, etc. Also, Lofton is crap in the postseason.
  12. Thank you, Ghost, for giving us "closure"!
  13. I don't HAVE playoff tickets...........( yet )...............so that's not on MY list of reasons................( yet )...............

You're NOT providing transportation??? ...well, forget it then... You better at least provide a ride home or sleeping quarters for CERTAIN members of the Soxtalk family....just to make sure there are no cars going 105mph late that night....
  15. Why do we need ANY threads? He's probably just responding to the Tub Of Goo thread that gets posted every time Bart pitches, so why not? It's harmless.... BTW, Bart was GREAT against Boston, and three consecutive complete games is EXCELLENT. The Sox REALLY needed that CG last night, with Gordon out and the rest of the pen needing rest.
  16. MY suggestion is to turn down the TV sound and listen to the most vulgar, loud, obnoxious, UN-PC broadcast on White Sox baseball available ANYWHERE!! SnR, BABEEEEEE!!!!!
  17. 1. Because I don't care about football whatsoever - college or pro 2. Because the LackHawks are going to suck ass 3. Because I don't care about basketball whatsoever - college or pro So basically, aside from the Wolves, when the Sox season ends, my sports schedule ends for 2003. I'll watch the NHL on ESPN and I'll watch the LackHawks stumble through their campaign, but I don't figure to see much from them at all. So GO SOX!!!!!.....please?
  18. Paniagua was NOTHING to this season. He sucked in one inning of a game the Sox still won. Then he was gone. The Sox have had MANY problems, PK's bad start, Buerhle's bad start, the offense's bad start, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many losses to Detroit, etc etc, but Jose Paniagua would be a crutch.
  19. The ONLY reason I would agree with any part of this statement is because of the following two facts: The Indians are still playing VERY hard and have not mailed it in. They have some pretty good young players and they are hangng tough. They are going to be a REAL concern in the upcoming seasons. The Tigers have ONE thing to play for - to avoid being the worst team ever. If they still have a chance to avoid that, then they'll play hard and give it their best. Do I think it'll be enough? Not anymore, really. The Sox have really cast some serious doubts with their play in the past few days. ..........clinging to the dream, I guess..........
  20. On the CNN Headline News sports report, they were showing clips from last night's game and the talking head ( Matt Morrison ) said the following: "...and after Billy Koch walks in a run, his replacement, JERRY Wunsch, walks in another..." I wonder what Norm Bush and Tommy Hussein are up to these days?
  21. I think Loaiza will get #20, although the last two starts were NOT encouraging. Running out of gas? Opponents finally figuring out the cutter? Maybe.... I hope refunds will be given that quickly if the Sox don't make the playoffs - but WHY do I doubt it?? Not entirely surprised that Frank has more HR than PK and Crede combined, mostly because I didn't expect that many from Crede. Then again, when I think back to Ed Farmer saying in ST that Thomas "had better start hitting if he expects to make this team" ( to Farmer for that, btw ), expectations may not have been too high for Frank this year anyway. Maggs has been, while not a disappointment, not quite the player we're used to seeing. A little more reliable in RF, but the offensive numbers are not "Magglio-like" - they are VERY respectable, just not the MVP-type numbers we had hoped for from an emerging star.
  22. ...and for finding new and exciting ways to incorporate the word "goo" into sentences, I guess...
  23. I hope the people who are certain of the Twins' demise are right, but I don't really know where that opinion could come from.
  24. Who said there was no chance? Until they're 3 games out with 2 to play, there's a chance. I said I was pessimistic, NOT that there's no chance. I'm pessimistic because of the more difficult schedule compared to Minnesota's. Also, they would HAVE to play the games anyway, because they're ON the schedule. That is all.
