  1. I prefer to call them the Eastern States Propaganda Network. ...although their undying love for all things Barry is a bit of a wrench in the East Coast bias....could it be from his Pittsburgh days??
  2. I HATE when the guy in our section squawks! He does NOT squawk unafraid in MY section!!!!
  3. Ohhh, BOO HOO HOO, Maury, you Jerrybasher, you!!! Damn, I was just gonna go get my Joey Bread-and-Water jersey!!!! Good riddance to bad rubbish!!! Oh, and Joey, on your way out...... :fyou to you too...
  4. I've said it before and I'll say it again... KC has 7 more games against the Sox. Even if they can't catch the Sox themselves, they can still f*** THIS SEASON UP for the boys!!! 1....2....3....NO!!!! I'm gonna wait for the chickens to hatch!!!
  5. AAWWWWWWWWWW, THANKS, Hedder!!! Like I told Ian, immaturity keeps me young!!
  6. I don't mind when a guy will watch a BOMB - hell, I would too, I think, if I really jacked one like Frank or Eric Chavez did. What bugs me is flipping the bat away or throwing your hands up - at that point I think, JUST RUN THE BASES! The worst ( and now EVERYONE is doing it ) is the stupid pointing to the sky! That agitates me - hello, Jesus! hello, dead relative! UGH.....
  7. I agree with Killa....and I'm not even IN that demographic!! I have a family, not much "disposable" income, and I AIN'T YOUNG! Friday night games especially should be marketed at singles and young adults. Then the families can come on Saturdays and ask what "that smell" is...
  8. Gotta release Joey Bread-and-Water right now. Not only can he not get anyone out, but to read that he flipped off the ump is just embarrassing. There are no "easy" games left for him to be brought in to "see what he's got". He's not on the postseason roster. The Sox have several guys who can take whatever mop-up innings he might have pitched. Chalk him up to a failed experiment, wish him well in his future endeavors and move on.
  9. I think the most important thing about those moves, especially the fact that they happened on the same day, was that it changed the mindset of the Sox and their fans. Everyone was sure that the Sox were going to start dumping salary and - let's all say it together - WAVE THE WHITE FLAG. But it DIDN'T happen. Instead, the Sox go out and get TWO All-Star calibre players on the same day! I really think that sent a great message that management didn't think the team was dead, and the team responded! EXCELLENT moves by Kenny Williams.
  10. I am not burying the Royals yet. They still have 7 games with the Sox. ANYTHING can happen. Remember, the Sox looked dead and gone a while back too.
  11. Just for the sake of clarity, Jug did NOT want to see our thoughts on the subject. He wanted us to vote, not post - he said as much in that thread. Not that it matters, but I just wanted to point that out. ....and I don't even think he should be banned from posting multiple UD polls - banning is a BAD thing unless someone gets racist, sexist or personally threatening and does not heed warnings. That, to me, is the ONLY criteria for banning someone.
  12. You forgot about attendance threads, Killa!! And I agree - let's not get wrapped up in what the Sox MIGHT do. Let's just enjoy what they've done so far, and CHEER them on from here!!! GO SOX!!!!!
  13. GALLAS!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! GET OFF MY TELEVISION!!!!! :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou
  14. They saw him in 94, so it doesn't count!! Frank has taken him out of the park twice, I believe. YAAAAAAAAAAAAY - the "first timer curse" does not apply to Pulido!!!
  15. I read something a while back that said San Diego might make a strong push to get Tejada, especially if they pass on Jason Kendall. Not sure if Tejada would be any improvement defensively over Jose, and the Sox probably won't spend that much on a shortstop.
  16. ....can someone tell me how to mail an arm and a leg?
  17. I'd never want to go to Yankee Stadium because that would mean I'd have to watch the Yankees, probably my least favorite sports team of all. That place doesn't look all that great on TV, either...
  18. All due respect, Killa, but I really believe that there are both kinds of fans for both teams. There are Cub fans who are not haters, and there are Cub fans who get happier about a Sox loss than about a Cubs win. Same in reverse. The reason it's not equal is because GENERALLY SPEAKING, there are more Cub "fans" who go to Chewing Gum Park because their friends go there, or because it's the "cool" place to go, or whatever. There are more "serious baseball fans" who follow the Sox, again generally speaking. I personally know fans of each team who can carry on an engaging, intelligent conversation about baseball, and there are dolts who follow each team. Such is life... I don't care either way if the Cubs do well or not. I used to, but not anymore. I don't even watch them unless Prior or Zambrano are throwing. Those two guys are fun to watch, regardless of their uniform. I don't care WHO is on the other bench if the Sox get to the WS - the only reason I would prefer for the Cubs NOT to get there is so none of their fans would pollute USCF during that wonderful time!!!
  19. Nahhhh, I don't think anyone should be banned until they start using racial slurs, threats or other language that crosses a line that everyone here stays on the right side of. Blind obsession with concourses is a harmless thing.....
  20. but CAN THEY WALK THE CONCOURSE???? THAT is the secret to a QUALITY baseball experience!!!!
  21. MMMMmmmmm......beer for a nickle........ They'd have to shut the concourse down from EVERYONE on those nights!!!!
  22. I can only speak for myself, cw, but I have described in an earlier thread what I thought the best "This Is White Sox Baseball" commercial would be. It goes a little somethin' like this: Gallas is pitching his latest syrupy, hokey, awful commercial when he is suddenly dragged outside and beaten mercilessly while his attackers yell "OH-WEE-OH, MAAAAAAAGGLIO". He is then dumped in the trunk of a car and driven to a remote forest preserve. He is taken out of the trunk and beaten some more while his attackers yell "Jo-SE, Jose Jose Jose...." He is then thrown in a patch of poison ivy, covered with honey and placed next to a nest of angry hornets. Mind you, this is just a COMMERCIAL - I don't really wish any of this on Gallas. His dismissal or relocation to a department NOT involved with the marketing of the team would be fine...
  23. The crowd was BUZZING last night, "half empty" or not!! When Bart got out of that 7th inning jam, I swear the place was gonna collapse from the noise!! Hopefully some nice-sized crowds will show for the remaining three games. I don't recall the exact numbers, but I remember reading that the Sox have a very impressive W-L record when playing in front of 30,000+ home fans.
  24. http://money.cnn.com/2003/09/09/technology....reut/index.htm I don't think I like this idea - I guess it's the same principle as going to the theatre, but when I buy something, I like to keep it. ...hope the link works - if not, copy and paste to your browser.
  25. Why is this in green? It doesn't sound sarcastic at all to ask Buerhle to step it up tonight. ...except for the "number four starter" remark....that can stay in green...
