Yeah, Show, if ya keep breaking the Guy Code, 25 will be out of the question, cuz Maury will run you over with his truck!!!

...and ONE TEAM a lot more than once!!!
-
The games with KC and Minnesota are HUGE. They will determine whether or not the Sox stay in the race.
-
True, but the Sox had their top guys in the lineup and got two well-pitched games from their starters, so the 200-year-old man and the 7.00 ERA must've done something right. The two games were tense, dramatic and fun to watch - the only thing I didn't like about them was the ending! and personally, I'm getting really tired of bashing Manuel - not that I think he's gotten any better, I'm just going to stop beating my head against a wall. He's the manager until he's not, and nothing I say will change that. I tried staying away from the park and that didn't work. Tried booing him at the ASG to get my point across, that didn't work. I'm not a Ligue, so I can't try THAT. So I'm just going to continue to cheer for the players to try to outplay their horrible manager.

Reasons they COULD win the division: ( I'm not sold that the Sox could win the WS ) Powerful lineup VERY good starters 1-3, good #4 decent bullpen As many of us have stated in frustration before, this team SHOULD be way out in front, based on the players' past performances. The question is not whether or not they have what it takes, but rather if they can use what they have consistently enough to win it. The Royals and Twins seem to be doing more with less.

I think it's great fun to mock him. He doesn't bother me - he's a buffoon, a cartoon character. He looked pathetic in that first game, and got ONE good swing ( against one of THE WORST pitchers in the NL ). He then is "rewarded" for that one good swing by starting the second game on the bench. A "warrior" ( oh wait, that's Alfonseca ) would DEMAND to play a HUGE game against the team AHEAD OF THEM, but Sammy takes his "reward" and sits down. And his reasoning for taking a seat? "I'm only human". Jim Edmonds hit as many homers as Sammy did in the first game ( and got more hits, by the way ), and HE PLAYED the second game...and hit ANOTHER ONE!!! He must be SUPERHUMAN!!!! Too bad for Edmonds that LaRussa doesn't hand out seat cushions for good performances...

That wouldn't surprise me one bit, since the upper deck is the easiest target for people who want to mock that ballpark. ( For me, it's the spaceship/toilet shape when you view it from the outside, but there's not much hope of THAT changing... ) If they can make the UD experience HALF as good as the lower bowl, then NO ONE can complain about that ballpark. I am extremely impressed with what they've done to give the concourse some character, and it's easy to walk around and enjoy everything that's available there. s***, I NEVER thought I'd end up writing a love letter about the park, but it's been GREAT this year!!!

What matters to me is if they are beautifull or not! If they undergo plastic surgery to become more beautifull, i dont care. At least they are worried in to be so ugly or fat. BTW, Steff you have a great body. Yeah, Rafa, but if they're messed up in the head and/or don't value themselves as people, then what you're getting is rotten fruit in a pretty basket. I'd rather have a "average" looking, fully realized and confident human being than an empty good-looking container....but I KNOW I'm in the minority there!

Steff, You guys were in 159 for the Texas Saturday game??? My wife and daughter and I were in 160, row 9! ...wish I had known, I'd have stopped by and said hi...

See, I'd have felt a little foolish cuz I thought Devy was Max Calavera. Fredrik from Meshuggah has kind of a Jeff Hanneman of Slayer thing going there, too.
-
And 2 out of 6 is probably ALL I'm gonna get! The blond guy with the shades is Layne Staley, isn't it? I know I've seen the guys on the ends. I'm sure I'll feel stupid if and when you say who they are. The other 2, I have no clue. 10 years ago, I could name ANYONE that ANYONE would've shown me a picture of, but I'm just not too into that aspect of music fandom anymore.

First glance is tough, is that Chris Cornell in front???
-
I seem to recall JM saying something to the effect of, "I'm having a hard enough time finding at-bats for my guys up here now, like Daubach and Rowand, so I don't think we'll call up too many new guys". I would guess that they might bring up a couple arms for mop-ups or middle relief, though, to rest the playoff-eligible arms for any "potential" playoff appearances...

Not to be too critical of your top 10, but haven't Seattle and Houston been on a bit of a slide lately? Haven't looked up their last 10 games or anything, I just seem to remember some negative stats on both teams... could be wrong...
-
An EXCELLENT suggestion!!! PRONG ROCKS!!! A few other suggestions: Therapy? - either "Nowhere" or "Knives" Wildhearts - "Suckerpunch" Neurotic Outsiders - either "Jerk" or "Nasty Ho" ( I think the Outsiders songs will fit the SnR image NICELY!!! )

When you pound Lord Clemens and then beat up on Perfect Game Wells, even the Eastern States Publicity Network has to be impressed!
-
Probably depends on whether or not the people who decide the winner include the team's W-L records or not. If Rodriguez leads Frank in HR and BA and only trails in RBI by one for the month, he'd hardly be "stealing" the award, would he? Fact is, they both had pretty impressive August stats, and either would be deserving of the POTM.
-
Dotn give the pitcher the credit, it isnt him. I think Cornejo has a LITTLE something to do with the fact that the Sox hitters are hitting his pitches into the ground... He has pitched well against the Sox this year - 2 W, 2 L with an ERA around 3. He has to get some credit for that, I think.
-
Don't need to strike 'em out when you keep getting the double-play grounder, and when you don't allow home runs ( I think they said he's only allowed 14 or 15 homers all year ). He's making the Sox hitters look weak so far...
-
Frank has been AMAZING in the power department! The BA is creeping up there, too. KUDOS to Frank for getting his swing back to that SCARY level he had earlier in his career! Frank Thomas KEEP IT UP!!!!
-
my supervisor is a Cub Cult member, and he says "they didn't need Beck cuz their bullpen is set" and "he wasn't throwing hard enough". I answered that Farnsworth throws PLENTY hard, but does that make him good? ...of course, he also said he wouldn't want Albert Pujols on his team because "he's not a 5-tool guy" and "he doesn't run or throw all that well".

Must be, I always figured you we're Maury's age. Actually, I played softball with Maury's dad 20 years ago, and Maury was our batboy when he was a little snot-nosed brat! ...I've watched our little Maury grow up, and I am SO PROUD of him..........now I'm getting a little misty..........I promised myself I wouldn't cry............

Immaturity keeps me young! Yep, crusty old f***er, I am....

Went to see the Sex Pistols show last night at the Aragon. ( Ticket was a gift for my 40th birthday! Good thing, too, since it was 47 bucks!! ) Reverend Horton Heat was blah - I'm not a fan of his "psychobilly", so he couldn't get off stage soon enough for me. Highlight of his set was his lime green suit with orange flames running up it. Next were the Dropkick Murphys. Energetic Irish punk. Good stuff, lots of running around and s***, but a little too f***ing Irish for me. They had bagpipers, River dancers, Irish folk songs playing.............did I mention that they are IRISH??? Holy f***, be MORE Irish, guys!!! Maybe have a Leprechaun throwing POTATOES or something!!! ( Side note: their bass player looked EXACTLY, and I mean EXACTLY, like RPS!!! That was f***ing hilarious to me!!! Maury, where WERE you last night??? ) Then came the Pistols - they all looked fit and trim, except for Steve Jones, who looked like a f***ing BARREL. He lifted his shirt before the encore - I was yelling to see the Ultrasound!! They sounded as good as you can at the Aragon - they seemed to turn the high end up a little, to try to fight the notoriously s***ty Aragon acoustics. The songs sounded good, they hold up well over time. The Pistols sounded tight, and heavier than they sounded in 1996. Johnny Rotten was in rare form - funny, sarcastic, self-effacing. The rest of the band is very workmanlike, so Johnny has to carry the load as far as "entertaining" the crowd, and he handled it well. All in all, not a bad night of nostalgic punk - the Sex Pistols may not be musically relevant anymore, but they put on a great show!!
