The SamME action figure was suspended for steroids by a Bud Selig action figure, and it's now sitting in a Barbie casino with a Pete Rose bobblehead.

That would explain why he hasn't gone yard in the past few games...not a very "entertaining" bat!

whoa whoa whoa WHOA! Slow down, HSC!! I have played softball with Maury for a few years, and I can tell you, Maury PinStripes vs. Paulie Slownerko would be a very tight turtle race!! POETRY IN SLOW MOTION!!!!!!!!!

Hockey is not a sports team, it's a sport.

Actually, I have. At the beginning of the season, I felt that Frank needed to shut up and adjust to being the DH. But once Paulie got off to that horrible start, I figured "Why NOT throw Frank over there, just to see what happens?" Frank played well over there ( I vividly remember him scooping bad throws out of the dirt and making a few very nice plays ) and was hitting like a monster. I thought PK should have to hit a ton as DH to get back on the field defensively. JM felt differently. I now feel that since the offensive numbers are SO much better as a 1B, and since Frank is the most dangerous hitter in WS history, maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Since it ALSO helps the team in the process ( it's not like PK is a perennial Gold Glover over there, although he is good ), again I say "Why not?". Daubach does not enter into the equation, IMO. I like him, but he is a bench player "if I'm making out the lineup card".

Rocky Biddle recorded his 30th save for Montreal last night. Although I still think he never would have gotten the opportunity to close here, and I'm not sure he would've done as well given the opportunity here, he has certainly taken full advantage of the faith Montreal showed in him. Here's to 30 and then some, Rock!

WONDERFUL mental image!!!! The UC will be louder than the '91 All Star Game anthem when they ask the fans to "honor" the guy who has chased away the most loyal fanbase in all of Chicago sports. Hawks fans would stand just about anything as long as we felt there was an honest effort being put out. The current f***ups in charge are NOT making an honest effort at putting even a MILDLY competitive team on the ice. They GET no one and they KEEP no one, so NO ONE should attend.

I'll be there on Saturday with the wife and daughter. Daughter's first ever Sox game and fireworks - should be fun!

Dusty loves the veterans, even the veterans who hit .190 IN COLORADO this year! Nice message to send to Gruntsalot and Karros - "thanks for all your contributions, we're gonna platoon ya now that it's Crunch Time!" Yeah, Hill is gone, Patterson's hurt, Cruz is a yo-yo, Kelton is afraid of third base, Farnsworth ( the "closer of the future" ) is a long-term setup guy.....tell me more about the kids....

Not that it erases his past blunders over there, but I thought Frank looked VERY good when he played first base this season. I was surprised at how active and alert he seemed over there. Paulie has been a major disappointment this season, but he is NOT the only one. Just as the old cliche goes "Every day someone else can be the hero", this year's Sox team has had a different goat all the time. It's amazing that this team is still in striking distance, but they are, and they have as good a shot at it as Minny or KC.

Bob Odenkirk and David Cross had an HBO series called "Mr. Show", which was EXCELLENT. I believe the similarity between Mr. Show and Mr. ShowTIME led to that reference. If you get a chance to rent a Mr. Show DVD, do so - it's really good stuff.

Harrellson batted right-handed. ....that's what we're talking about, right?

Bruce Levine Trying to Remove Frank's Foot from...
The Critic replied to forkit's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Steff, NOT A CHANCE that it was out of context. I heard it too, and he said everything listed in previous posts. He was even chuckling a little bit about "not making out the lineup cards". I have to laugh at any suggestion of passing on Frank at first so Brian Daubach can get some at-bats. It seems that the current management are dead-set on denying what everyone already knows - that Frank Thomas, for whatever reason, is a MUCH MUCH better, more effective and more dangerous hitter when he plays first base. WHY they continue to shoot themselves in the foot is beyond me. If they're trying to prove a point, the only point they're proving to me is that giving their team the best chance to win is less important than keeping Frank Thomas "in line". ...I don't get it...I just don't get it... -
Ay, GoomBAAAAAAA, how YOO dooin'?? It's NIZE to see new Sox fanss comin' on dis board, no? I hope to see you postin' your opinions here often, my friend... Now geddouddahere, I'm BUSY!!

Absolutely, I'd be glad to do a Macho answering machine message for ya. One time, a buddy of mine asked me to call his kid as Savage, and I talked to the kid for like 10 minutes. My buddy told me later that his son was running around their living room, all geeked up about talking to Savage. I felt like a mall Santa - in a good way. And yes, Mullets ROCKED back in the day, but they were sweaty as hell in summer.

Maury wants to mold Ian in his own image. HEAR THAT, IAN? RUN!!!! WHILE YOU CAN!!!!

Did you have the perfume like the Model did? "yes, yes, the sweet smell of 'Arrogance', because all you fat, out-of-shape lazy Americans stink, and it is up to I, the Model, to make you smell a little better!" I did enjoy that stupid character for a while, but I never saw any resemblance between me and him...although I WAS flying the Mullet proudly at that point, as was ALMOST EVERYONE back then!

When I was in HS, I was told that I looked like Steve Dahl - I did NOT take that as a compliment. When I lost some weight after HS, I was told I looked like John Travolta - I did NOT take that as a compliment. For old-time wrestling fans, I was told at one point that I looked like "The Model, Rick Martel", but without muscles - I didn't mind that comparison so much. Now I think I look kinda like Buddy Hackett - and I run like Ron Cey!!! I do NOT take that as a compliment!!! And I SAID IT!!!!!!!

originally written and performed by Bruce Springsteen, if I'm not mistaken. An AM radio staple in the 70s. NOT to be found anywhere on my all-time favorite anything.

VERY true - Dusty Baylor could kill him and Zambrano the way he's killing Kid Elbow.

If it's a short term proposition, then that's a very valid point. Long-term, give me Prior. He won't have to hold anyone's jock by the time he's through.
-
Yeah. Mark Prior. You all can take your always-on-the-DL Pedro. I'll take my staff ace of the future Prior. Agreed - don't let the bad clothes cloud your judgment, that guy is great and is gonna stay great for a long time.

Can't make it tonight after all, guys - real life gets in the way! SOON, though...........soon............ I do have "a very special message" for my SnR friends tonight, though, so please listen in if you can! SnR SnR SnR
