After KW does his McMahon impression, will he do that "crap-in-the-pants" walk that Vinny Mac does? That's the funniest walk on TV today!! I hope he's been told already....lame duck his ass!

I just don't bother myself with what That Other Chicago Team is doing. They are the San Diego Padres or Toronto Blue Jays to me. Just another MLB team I don't watch. I understand the frustration with the uneven nature of the media attention, but I just don't give it that much thought. Jay Hysteriotti and his ilk are just buffoons who write the easiest possible thing they can and occasionally the facts happen to back their retarded opinions up. There's enough to be frustrated about with the Sox season, I don't need to anger myself over a team I care ZERO about.

Thank You!!! I was just going to post the exact same thing - Lofton has had ONE good LCS and ONE good WS in his career, with a LOT of chances in postseason play. He is NOT a long-term solution, or even a short-term one. I'd actually prefer Dorn over Lofton. Wish Dorn could find a consistent stroke - he is MONEY with the glove. To answer the original question, I agree with the general consensus - this team in too reliant on the long ball to win consistenly, in my opinion. Gotta get a SS who can get on base and shake things up. More offense from behind the plate would be nice. People playing an ENTIRE season would also help. My guess about pitching? Colon goes, Loaiza has a solid season but not as many wins ( 13-16 is my guess ), Garland improves a bit ( same range as Esteban ) and the Sox try to fill the hole left by Colon ( pretty BIG hole ) with another reclamation project. My hopes are NOT high for next year, unfortunately, since I think it's pretty much a lock that JR will cut payroll and try to shove more kids down our throats, since going "veteran" did not get it done this year.

NEVER let logic seep into a discussion about the Chicago LackHawks... I'd be a bit surprised if Ruutu didn't wind up on a kid line like last year's. That might not be a bad idea, anyway, but I'm just not yet sold on these kids - I've been fed too many Everett Sanipasses and Ken Yaremchuks and Florent Robidoux's in the past to take a young Hawk on blind faith.

Example: Meat Loaf + John Belushi - Chris Farley = Jack Black Try it?

He won't win the Calder if he's saddled with crap linemates. If he ends up on line 3 or 4 ( or even 2 ) chances are he will have crap linemates. I hope he does well, but it's unfair to heap expectations on him too soon.

The only one I got "right" is the book one, but I don't think that should count because the "old classic" I just re-read was Johnny Rotten's autobiography. So I REMAIN a crusty old curmudgeon - TRENDS BEGONE!!!!

FEAR THE OVERKILL.... Beat writers are so desperate for ANYTHING positive to write about the LackHawks that they're already close to oversaturation on this kid. " Tuomo Ruutu ate a Wendy's salad for lunch after the morning skate. Team officials quietly voiced some concern over the Frosty he ate for dessert, fearing that the frozen treat may, in the words of one official on the condition of anonymity, "sit in his gut like a stone". Wendy's personnel were unavailable for comment."

The ad said Frank "plays first base" for the Sox. ...played? used to play?
-
Well, they certainly picked the right guy to use for the picture!

Bulls = I don't care. Lackhawks apparently = Ruutu. I admit that this kid has me interested, but "interested" means I will watch them on TV. My money will not become Wirtz's money this year. Or next year. That organ I zation has to lure me back, and "stealing away" Calgary's 4th line center or someone named Quint will NOT get that done. Under the current MISmanagement, Ruutu will only be here until it's time to get paid, then Red Wings or Flyers fans will enjoy seeing him in their sweater. I enjoy watching the Wolves play - they put on a good show and usually play very hard.

I think what the team does ( or doesn't do ) in the offseason will determine how many fans the Sox might lose. I'll be there next year...

Thought it was 575...? "574 is NOT 575, Jose......" Please please PLEASE let him fall short....TONY G.....TONY G.... ( this is not to say that Tony G is the long-term answer at SS because I don't think he is - this is merely to say that I've seen enough of Jose Valentin and if the Sox want him back, at least it should be at a lower price )
-
Neither. I see Loaiza as a guy who did WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than was EVER expected of him, but is petering out at the end. He is not a choker or a traitor in my eyes. He had a great season with a lousy ending. At least HE did not wait until late May to start winning ballgames. As far as pitchers are concerned, he is the ONLY reason the Sox could have possibly climbed back into contention in the first place. He is neither an Ace nor a Traitor, but he is MUCH closer to an Ace.

Jerry. Kenny has tried - he brought in some talented players, but they fell under the same gloomy spell that Ghandi has inflicted on all the players before them. Laid Back must become Laid Off.

Hey, no sweat Killa - although I actually prefer LackHawks because they LACK a consistent power play, they LACK a consistent offensive threat, and they LACK a fanbase now that BillyBuck has chased us all away. Ruutu is gonna be special, I think, unless his knees become a chronic problem. He's a physical player with scoring touch - the Roenick comparison is a good one. Unfortunately, one guy is not enough to bring me out to the UC unless I get comps from a friend who works there. I have to see a more realistic effort being made to field ( ice? ) a competitive team. The team I see is going to only win in boring slow-paced games, and that's fine once in a while, but not as a gameplan.

Is it ok for SOX fans to root for the scrubs?
The Critic replied to JUGGERNAUT's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Personally, I honestly don't give a s*** either way. I wouldn't even watch their games if they made it in. They don't interest me at all anymore - even when Prior throws. I really like Prior, but I just don't have any interest in watching the Cubs. They're not worth my time or energy. The Cub fan retards at my work will talk about something regardless, so it's not like they'd shut the f*** up if ( when? ) the Cubs fall short. It will be "the Cards laid down for the Astros" or some such s***. It all goes in one ear and out the other. -
I read in Rick Telander's column in the Times that 3 girls were making out with each other and when the security staff came to escort them out, one of them dropped her pants for the crowd. He said it happened in the seats behind home plate in the 7th inning. That's all I know...at least SOMEONE got excited at last night's game!

When I did Sox And Roll last Thursday night, they were considering skipping today's game. I told them they should go and enjoy a nice Sunday afternoon at the ballpark. I don't think they're enjoying themselves right now. If I see Maury rumble onto the field to attack JM, I will feel pretty bad....but not bad enough to bail him out....
-
They'll probably just announce that they're seeking the Death Penalty for the Girls Gone Wild at last night's game....gotta get tough with the hooligans, you know...

ESPN is doing an Outside The Lines right now comparing the Sox and Lovable Losers and their fans... SHOULD BE GREAT....

Hocking an dPierzynski on ESPN Radio...

Watch it dude. My generation takes the word "weak" as meaning hilarious and great... then it's.....awesome and great??? Does "your generation" REALLY consider WEAK as a compliment??? That is truly awful. -

No, it starts at 1am Central and ends at 5am. I leave my house at 4:45am to walk to the bus. TRUST ME, I know this information to be true!!! The bus gets me to the train, the train gets me downtown at 6am. and YES, my schedule sucks... -
I had a feeling the Sox will go cheap in the offseason. Didn't realize that Soxtalk would, too...
