You have to assume the Sox will lose someone good in any deal, especially if they talked Texas into paying the bulk of Everett's salary. There have been tons of "can't-miss" prospects who HAVE missed. Prospect speculation is like gambling, anyway. I'm just glad that a Chicago team has decided to try to win NOW instead of dangling "the kids" in front of our faces or trying to do it on the cheap. The division is there for the taking, and to overstate the obvious, you can't win the World Series if you don't make the playoffs. The Sox still have promising guys in their system, so I like the moves to try to win now.

The team is really swinging the bats MUCH better, and Billy Koch ( dare I say it? ) seems to be turning it around too. Thank goodness that the AL Central is so weak - the Sox would be out of contention in either of the other divisions.

It's also very frustrating, because this team could do good things all the time, but they're obviously too mentally weak to approach "lesser" games with the proper intensity. It's kinda sad that these 6 games are the most important of the season in the minds of the Sox players and management, because in MY opinion, their divisional games SHOULD be the priority in their minds.

Patterson, while he strikes out quite a bit, does seem to be concentrating much better in key at-bats. ShamME just goes up there and flails. I'd walk Patterson to get to SoSo every time, especially on the road. ScamME is going to be useless on the road the rest of this year, if not for good. The LoveFest is over, he's just another enemy player now, and he can't take it.

I had joked at work that Captain Cork would shove earplugs into his head, but I didn't honestly think that he WOULD! That is one thin-skinned hypersensitive little baby! This whole episode is in his head now, and he's totally psyched out. I'd bet that he doesn't have ONE good road series for the rest of the season - all the other teams' fans have to do is ride him hard early in each game and he's DONE!! ....all those muscles, and yet so weak....
