  1. Ummmmmmmm..............I thought this thread was about the LEGITIMATE, PROFESSIONAL sports talk entities in this town??? Your ( our ) little operation HARDLY qualifies as legit or pro, wouldn't you agree??? I realize that the Snore and Eastcoast SPorts News Radio1000 don't have THAT MANY more listeners than SnR, but they sell advertising and their people GET PAID, so there is a difference... When I'm jabbering about sports with my friends, bias is a MUST!!!! now f*** OFF!!! :fyou
  2. Another crybaby manager whining about "running up the score" and "have some consideration for the other team" after his Marlins put on a HORRIBLE display of inept baseball. SHUT UP, Jack! If I were a manager, I would NEVER suggest that guys make outs on purpose! The Red Sox are supposed to stop playing the game because the Marlins can't stop them??? NEVER. If the Marlins were pissed about it, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! And I DON"T mean throw it at their heads! I mean make better pitches and catch the f***ing ball!!! And if the Marlins players are unable to do that, then GET BETTER PLAYERS!!! A guy's not supposed to try and score on a sacrifice fly because it might hurt someone's feelings???? f*** THAT! Stealing bases with a big lead.......maybe, but I'm not even so sure about that. Rubbing it in...........PLEASE. Is the Miami Herald supposed to NOT report on it because THAT might be "rubbing it in"?? You give up 28 runs in a major league ballgame, you SHOULD be embarrassed and it SHOULD be rubbed in!! So :fyou Jack McKeon..........sit there, shut up, and TAKE IT!!!
  3. With the notable exception of the second most biased radio personality in Chicago, Dave Wills. Maybe I'll get blasted for saying this, but I think Wills is an annoying pumpkinhead, and HE is a main reason that AM1000 bothers me - him and that afternoon show of theirs. I don't like biased radio, no matter which way the bias lies. and I think that this homeristic "Local vs, National" thing makes people look very small town and hick. I DO care about what's going on around the country and around the leagues. I watch national TV programming ( where's the LOCAL ACCESS CABLE support if national is so bad? ), and I enjoy watching and listening to baseball games involving non-Chicago teams. Don't shortchange your entertainment choices, people.
  4. Cruz is up for trade deadline window shopping. If they make any trades, he is almost certain to be included. As for Hill, Boras screws another client. If he had signed with the Sox, he'd probably be their everyday 2B right now.

    sex

I'm sure they'd be thrilled to hear that............. Please don't ever share that sort of information with the class ever again.
  6. When they're finished litigating against their customers, will the record company geniuses go after the used CD stores next?? After all, that is unauthorized resale and distribution of copyrighted materials, isn't it??? And nobody makes money from used CDs except the store and the people who sell their used CDs.......right?? Where does Pathetica stand on the issue of used CD stores, I wonder? After all, nobody directly PROFITS off the EVIL downloading!!!
  7. I read somewhere that the average artist has to go gold to break even - and a VERY VERY small percentage of CDs go gold. The labels don't "pay" artists for anything - that all has to be recouped before the artist receives a dime of royalties. If the stupid-ass record industry had embraced the technology when it began and come up with a workable system for selling and transferring digital music, they wouldn't be so far behind that they have to resort to suing the only people interested enough to consider purchasing their product. In my own case, I don't download a lot of what would be considered "popular music", but I feel like I still haven't broken even for all the s*** albums I've purchased in my life. All the albums with one good song, and you'd never know it cuz all you could hear on the radio was that ONE song. Instead of viewing it as a promotional device, they viewed it as a threat. Instead of offering a track or two for free to promote artists that they're not forcing down consumers' throats, they decide to litigate and threaten. Typical assbackwards record company business-as-usual.
  8. Two quick thoughts: Technically, the Sox would have still been 4 1/2 games out, but they'd be 3 1/2 behind the second-place Twins at that point, because the Royals won and they would have taken sole possession of first place. And, that Cub game doesn't seem as funny to me anymore. Both Chicago teams blow 5-1 leads on the same day...........sad............
  9. And who was it that couldn't "doo hee yob" with a runner in scoring position and 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th?? Who was it that took the WHIFF when it mattered most?? ohhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhh...............it was THAT guy..................

  12. First time I'm offering a PTC, so I'll start with a loss and say................ KONERKO!!!!!!!
  13. Maybe Reed's bad back will make his curve ball roll up screaming to be crushed the way Shorn Testes' curve did on Friday!!! Sox need a sweep, but I'd settle for 2 of 3. ( Like it matters if I "settle" for anything, right??? )
  14. I disagree - the relay from Jose was too far off the plate to the first base side. If the throw is on line or off to the third base side, Grudzielanek is OUT. Simple as that. It was a great slide that got him in, but if Olivo doesn't have to lunge at him, he's out. What I DO agree with is that the Cubs just took the win today - that would have been a great play to nail him at home, and sometimes it just doesn't happen. The Cubs really had to have that win, and they got it. 2 out of 3 is a good weekend.

    NHL draft

The NHL draft is the least meaningful draft of all, IMO. There seem to be more high-round busts and late-round bloomers than in any other sport. Besides, as was mentioned earlier, the Hawks never sign their top picks on time anyway, so what difference does it make??
  16. Even if Valentin misses to the other side of the plate, Gruffcnaklfkjsdlfyesanczlvkhsd would have been out. He'd have had no way around Olivo. Leave it to Valentin to make the ONLY bad throw that would allow Grufascmdvfjvldk to be safe...of course, Jose probably wasn't expecting the relay throw to be anywhere near him, so he had to recover from the shock before he threw...
  17. Changes I could see with President Maury and his Cabinet: Hits juuuuuuuuust over the shortstop's head in 16" softball would be a home run Alcohol would be free Caliente would be mandatory viewing in school ( hey, they'd learn Spanish!! ) The Beastie Boys would perform the National Anthem International policy would be VERY VERY FRIGHTENING Jerry Reinsdorf would be deported Cubs fans would be taxed at a MUCH higher percentage than Sox fans Porn movies at the video store would NO LONGER be in their own little room Lars Ulrich would be deported ...I can't even describe what the interns would have to do!!!!

    THE Hulk??

No interest in comic book movies anymore. I think action movies in general rely too much on computer graphics these days - it all looks real cool now, I guess, but it's really going to date this era of "cinema" ( "cinema" ) - just look how well the Synthesizer Era of Popular Music has aged!!! That Flock Of Seagulls album still sounds FRESH today, doesn't it?? And the Human League, and Thomas Dolby, and Howard Jones, etc etc etc etc..... Give me an interesting plot, believable characters and GOOD actors and that's all I need. They don't hit that trifecta very often anymore, especially the "actors" category. This is the Shallow End Of The Talent Pool Era of "cinema" ( sorry, I can't help it - when I try to call it cinema, it cracks me up ).

    Damn

It's all speculation right now - and the Bulls are being very secretive about it, which doesn't help to STOP speculation - but the latest I heard on the radio is that they think he'll miss one full season at least. It's an unfortunate accident for Williams AND for the Bulls, who had their best trade opportunity taken away by the crash as well. I'm sure this isn't how he wanted it, but now Crawford won't have to look over his shoulder for the hook all the time.

    Lennox Lewis

I thought Lewis looked like s***. The cut was caused, in my opinion, by a glancing punch with maybe the seam of the glove and then a few headbutts and facewashes to really get it bleeding. Lewis obviously didn't train hard for this fight - he was at his highest weight ever, he looked slow, he was tired in the 2nd round, and if the fight had continued, I think Klitschko would have dropped him. Lewis had no defense, he wasn't throwing that good heavy jab of his AT ALL, and he was clutching at every opportunity. He looked ready to fall, I thought. Plus, he was really being a pompous ass in the pre-fight and post-fight interviews. If he said "look at the state of his face" one more time, I'da puked... I think Tyson's street fight would have been more fun to watch.
  21. I don't want to be a wet rag here, but I'm waiting to see what kind of attitude the Sox bring today against Zambrano and at the Dumpy Dome before I get too excited. The Sox have pounded on the two weak links in the Cub rotation, and they almost gacked yesterday's game, until Dusty choked on his toothpick and Goodwin mistook it for a steal sign. I want to see the Sox come out as fired up for the Twins as they always are for the Northsiders - hopefully the fact that the Twins series is sandwiched between the two Cub series will help the Sox maintain their aggression. It's VERY nice to see the offense clicking, and if Konerko could ever find his way out of the year-long slump ( not "season-long", it's been a calendar year since he hit well at all ), then the AL Central is there for the taking.
  22. I always thought that CrashCar should be sponsored by insurance companies anyway...what an easy segue into a commercial...."and there's a fiery crash on turn 3 - what would YOU do if you had a crash like this? With State Farm, you wouldn't have to worry...."
  23. Nice throw by the Dumbass..... It's called a cutoff man - they have one at every level of baseball.
  24. "Ay coodun see dee bowl cos of dee SOAN!" "Ay yam a berry strawn mon, an thees teen knee MEE!!!" BTW, nothing feeds hit-starved bats better than a plateful of SHAWN WORSTEST MEATBALLS!!!!
  25. If you buy an iRock wireless signal amplifier ( 30 bucks at Radio Shack and other outlets ) you can listen to SnR on a radio outside or in almost any room in the house. Just plug it into the headphone jack on your PC and tune your radio to one of the four available frequencies ( 88.1, .3, .5 or .7 FM ) and you are ready for SnR on your radio! I have one, and it works like a charm!!! I'll be listening while I stay 2 feet away from the air conditioner!!
