  1. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) They've wrestled before with not breaking up so I wouldn't worry just yet. All in all, an average show with a good but nonsensical ending. Why did Orton drop the sledgehammer FIRST???? And crap, is he still boring as hell on the mic! Jericho was right - he is a charisma black hole. Speaking of which, promo of the night goes to Ricky Steamboat????? That was pure gold. Especially since they had to move his bit with Jericho out of the ring because Jamie Noble was being attended to by medics in the ring for 10 minutes. Mike Knox messed up his swinging neckbreaker (or perhaps hit it JUST RIGHT since he f***ed up Noble's neck to the point where Noble was stretchered to an ambulance). I was just messing with Milkman about Morrison & Miz, although Vince does hate tag teams, so I expect them to break up and feud before too long.

  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) This better not be the groundwork for breaking up Miz and Morrison. Just like I said recently, they always break up teams I like...and I only mentioned that I like them last week. They just had Lawler tease a breakup by saying "I don't know how they can continue as a team. Something has to give there" THANKS A LOT, MILKMAN!!
  4. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) I think Cooper owns a bar and grill in Phoenix too. Yep. Cooper'stown. I was there once, saw the DeLaHoya/Vargas fight there in '02. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but a nice place - very spacious, lots of rock memorabilia and a nice patio area.
  5. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 02:56 AM) Does anyone ever listen to Alice Cooper's late night radio show? I'm not sure if it's on nationally, but it's just a good mix of rock n roll music. iTunes has clips occasionally, but hasn't seemed to update in a really long time. I'd love to hear it, I think Alice is a really interesting guy.
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) I want to take Penn's award and smash it up with a hammer. /obscure wrestling reference I want to take his award and break it on Hulk Hogan's chest, leaving a permanent scar and causing him to hate me forever. /Bobby Heenan reference
  7. QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) Playoff ticket invoices are out! wooo! I'm going to be applying for a bail out. You going to actually attend any of THOSE games???
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) Problem is, I can point to at least 3 guys in their rotation and say "This guy worries me". Dempster is simply not as good as he was last year. It'll take 5 years of that level of performance before I believe he's going to repeat that season. Harden might give you 20 starts if you're lucky And Zambrano keeps having these weird sort of injury things that suggest arm trouble is in the offing. If that rotation is healthy it can dominate. Especially with Harden though, the odds of it giving them a healthy season are really low. Yeah, when I say their rotation is strong I'm figuring on everyone but Harden being healthy. I do kind of expect a drop in production from Dempster, but not a significant one if he worked as hard this offseason as he did last offseason when he was playing for a new contract. Zambrano does have those fluky things happen to him, but they don't seem to derail him for very long. You could very well be right, though - sometimes the little things foreshadow the bigger problems later on. Plus he doesn't keep himself in the greatest of shape, so that may catch up with him too. All in all, though, they do seem in position to have another good regular season.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 09:14 AM) They came back and won too many miracle games last year. Everything went right. When the Sox had a season like that, the next year everything went wrong. This is entirely possible. They have some spots that can easily trouble them (Kevin Gregg jumps out at me, losing DeRosa is going to hurt them, and their bench seems weaker, especially at catcher), and if another division team gets hot early it could be an "off year" for the Cubs. That said, I still like their chances. Their rotation is strong and their division is still relatively weak.

Until the next paying gig comes along, and while KLSX is paying him to stay home, here is the site for Adam's (planned) daily podcast: http://www.carollaradio.com/ First podcast planned for Monday morning. Bookmark it, and...... Get. It. ON! GOT to get it on, no choice but to GET IT ON!!! :headbang
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) Its at his workplace where they shouldnt be buying tickets online during work hours anyway. So, no, not really. And its SSI that does that and its awesome. If he doesn't block the first day of Sox sales, because it's at a workplace where they shouldn't be buying tickets online during work hours anyway, then it's a dick move.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) What about satellite Sirius XM is going down the crapper. Their stock is way down, there's talk of bankruptcy, the merger didn't solve their problems. I heard they're more likely to cut talent than take on new talent.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 10:54 PM) Who is it that works in IT at their job and blocks the Cub fans from getting tickets online the day they are available every year? That makes me smile every year. Ehh, Cubs fans or not, that's a dick move and I disapprove. If the roles were reversed this place would have a collective aneurysm about it.
  14. I heard a little bit about this on the radio last night. Sad, crazy story all the way around: http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/972.html Wrestling legend Verne Gagne is linked to the death of an elderly man he shared a room with at Friendship Village in Bloomington, Minnesota, an assisted living facility. On January 26th, Gagne reportedly threw a 97-year-old man down to the ground, causing permanent damage that ended his life twenty days later. The WWE Hall of Famer suffers from severe dementia and his family says he does not remember the incident with roommate Helmut R. Gutmann, which resulted in Gutmann breaking his hip. Police are investigating the death and trying to determine whether to recommend charges to the Hennepin County attorney’s office. Betty Gutmann, the wife of the roommate, was saddened by the events, but believes Gagne does not understand what happened. "You can't blame the person that did it," Gutmann said. "Gagne doesn't know what he's doing. I feel so sorry for his family, because they are faced with a terrible problem of what to do." The former wrestler reportedly had a history of violent outbursts at the assisted living facility as he'd put elderly patients in chokeholds. A third such incident led to Gagne's dismissal from the facility, but he was soon allowed to return.

QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) As I have said before,Adam is the greatest radio talk show host I have ever heard. I think he has said that he loves Chicago (or he could have said he hated it more than anything on earth not sure),he would make it big if he came to do radio here. I remember him saying he liked Chicago a lot but he's a Cali guy and he hates the winter weather here. I would be thrilled with a daily 45 minute show - a nice, focused, condensed rant. The only problem with filling 20 hours a week is you end up repeating a lot of stuff. That wouldn't happen with a 45 minute deal. I'd also love a Loveline reunion - send Striker back to whatever no-talent pile he dropped down from.

    Bad News

The bad news is, KLSX in Los Angeles has decided to change to a Top 40 format (just what the world needs, another Top 40 radio station), so tomorrow is the final day for The Adam Carolla Show. The ACS is probably my favorite radio show anywhere, and I will miss having 2 to 3 hours' worth of new content every weekday. The good news is, Adam plans to do a free 45-minute podcast from his home - not sure yet how frequent this podcast will be, but any Adam is better than no Adam. Adam will still get paid through 12/31/09, so a 10-month paid vacation is not the worst fate you can "suffer".
  17. Good news regarding Bobby Heenan's health, courtesy Lords of Pain.net: source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter -- Bobby Heenan's health has improved in recent months as he is doing a lot better. The WWE Hall of Famer is still having to relearn to talk clearly, but he's improved enough that he's planning on attending a spring training baseball game soon. In December 2007, Heenan had reconstructive surgery on his jaw, after the first surgery was unsuccessful. Heenan was placed in a medically induced coma which he was slowly brought out of about a month later. His jaw then had to be reconstructed. I had no idea Bobby was placed in a coma! Damn. I was afraid that Bobby was going to die, honestly. Things were looking very bleak for him a while back - I'm very glad he's on the upswing! Keep getting better, Brain!
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 10:14 AM) Oh! I just learned this one the other night. It originated in Hamburg, Germany. But you still have wonder why they named it after the town. Because naming it GERMBURGER after the country wouldn't sell, silly!!!
  19. Yep, old news. The Angels' loss is the Sox' gain, and this nobody is trying to leech off of other people's success. Bobby's been great as a Sox player on and off the field. That's all I care about, and I'm happy for Bobby because he seems happy and content with his life now.
  20. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) Um.......Edge? And to whoever above, Vickie is a HEAT MACHINE. She pushes all the right buttons. Excuse me.... EXCUSE ME!!!!
  21. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) No way man, wrestling fan dont respond to people on the mic that truly suck(see: Orton, Randy. Before the last year). Watching her on the mic yesterday, it was almost overwhelming how much the crowd responded to her. I dont like her either, but I cannot deny the fact that she is doing well what makes heels succeed. Jarrett and Russo always rambled and ended up getting the "boring" chants, Vicki just gets the straight up hate. I dunno, man, it just seems like "blabber blabber excuse me! excuse me.....EXCUSE ME!!! blabber blabber my husband Edge blabber blabber" to me. I always think of the Cheech & Chong "Sister Mary Elephant" bit when Vickie speaks: "Class.....claaaaaaaaass.....class....SHUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUUP!!!! .....thank. you."
  22. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Vicki Guerrero says hi. Nobody creates heat like she does If by heat you mean that I can't decide if I hate myself for not changing the channel immediately or hate my television for showing that thing to me, than yeah, she creates heat. For me she creates Vince Russo heat or Jeff Jarrett heat.

  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) Shouldn't it be "them apples"? I thought that as well, and found that either use is appropriate. I, of course, endorse the use of PROPER English, so I chose the more grammatically correct term. Whattya t'inka DAT?
  25. "those apples", as in: "How do you like THOSE apples?"
