QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Aga3...o&type=lgns Interesting take on Prior. Quote from this story: "In 2003, Prior felt no pain. He starred as a rookie and finished behind a juiced Eric Gagne for the NL Cy Young award. He had pitched a shutout in Game 6 of the NLCS until the eighth inning, when Steve Bartman rendered the first seven meaningless." Another lazy writer scapegoating the poor sap because it's a shorter, easier thing to write than it would be to place the blame where it belongs.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 07:15 AM) My goal: Skate faster than any other defenseman in the league. FAIL. Even when you start off a stride and a half ahead on the GW goal. Well, Vermette IS a forward, and Brian didn't say anything about skating faster than forwards. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) Hawks just lost again to the NJ Devils 3-2 on the NHL network. Going on right now is Martin Brodeur cutting off the netting from the goal to celebrate becoming the winningest goalie in NHL History surpassing Patrick Roy. Congrats to Martin Brodeur. I like him a whole lot more than Patrick Roy, so it's very nice to see Marty pass him. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) With 13 staples in my abdomen, and a lot of swelling, my doctor advised me to stay away from anything funny. Of course I knew I could come here and read what the prof posts Well, good thing you can still post.

Lots of bands have "cults" for fans. Metallica fans used to stand with their backs to the opening bands, middle fingers in the air. Slayer fans would leave en masse after Slayer's set if Slayer was the opening act. I love watching the opening acts - I have found many great new bands that way, but many people are only there for the band they paid to see. To each their own.

Wow, another mall security guard movie, this time with the not-overplayed-at-all Seth Rogen. File that under "Don't Fail To Miss".

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) Hawks are down 4-1 to the Islanders. At home. What.the.f***. They are making bad teams look good lately. They better find whatever it takes to pick up some points or they'll be starting the playoffs on the road. -
What an insightful, compelling article. That guy sounds like quite an asshat, but he's just trying to prove his points with hyperbole. Soccer's not a game that's going to be a ton of fun to watch if all you want is offense. There's a lot of stuff to watch away from the ball that I find interesting, like how different clubs try to set up plays and how some teams like to run with the ball more while others use their positioning to "let the ball do the work". You can find boring elements in any sport if that's what you're looking for. Many people find the many pauses in baseball boring, I find football boring for the "minute off, 5 seconds on" factor, the trap and dump-and-chase can make for a boring hockey game, etc. etc.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) I still don't know what Twitter is. I don't care about Facebook's layout because it's free and offers the same thing. What do I care what the layout is? I agree. It serves its purpose for me, and I'm fine with the layout.

Yet another dead wrestler. Andrew "Test" Martin found dead in his home in Tampa. 4 days shy of 34 years old. http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/article/br...-in-tampa-59845 Sad. RIP Test. -

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 10:34 AM) I never made it as a blind man, I never made it as a poor mans somethin somethin.... Is that the one you like? LOL......critic likes Nickelback. HA No, that's one of the ones that cancel out the other ones. And what part of "kind of" and "sort of" don't you get? For the record, the less offensive Nickelback songs are Never Again and Animals. I don't have them on my iPod, but if I happen to hear them it takes a little longer to change the station.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) Went to Nickelback in a luxury box tonight. Make fun of them all you want, but that was pretty damn entertaining. I actually sort of like two Nickelback songs, but I dislike all their other songs so much that it makes me not want to hear the ones I kind of like. Still, a bad show in a luxury box can still be a decent time, if they have a TV tuned to something interesting.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Trent Reznor posted this on his recent Twitter LOL I have to agree with Reznor. That's a bad record. It would even be a bad Timberlake record.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) BTW, after reading this, the BK Burger Shots doesn't sound or look too appealing IMO; http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2008/1...er-burgers.html You must have the wrong link - that doesn't look like the Burger Shots I see on their commercial AT ALL. And correct me if I'm wrong, but HAWT CHIX don't come around climbing all over you and saying thinly veiled sexual double-entendres if you have a bag of Sliders, DO THEY????

Re-doing the old bit where Austin breaks into Pillman's house with HHH and Orton = lame. (Lords Of Pain reporting that Orton was not sitting next to his real wife, that was supposedly an actress portraying his wife. If that's true it's double lame) Cena claiming to be in love with Excuse Me Guerrero = I can't suspend my belief that much. -

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) That Anvil film actually looks like an outstanding film. Sometimes the best stories come from the most unexpected places.
-
This is the next movie I have to see: http://www.anvilthestoryofanvil.com/ "At 14, Toronto school friends Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, went on to become the "demigods of Canadian metal," releasing one of the heaviest albums in metal history, 1982's Metal on Metal. The album influenced a musical generation, including Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, that went on to sell millions of records. But Anvil's career took a different path - straight to obscurity." Opens at the Music Box Theatre ( ) on April 24th, and I will be there!

The Daily Herald article says Havlat's "lower body injury" likely came from blocking a shot. Nothing more specific than that, though, and there's no Hawks practice today so they probably won't say anything more until Tuesday. -
"Have you ever arranged to have someone killed......the moment they cut you off in traffic?" "....or gotten someone pregnant....just by thinking about it?" "....or found your real father.....when he was trying like hell to avoid you forever?" "YOU WILL...."

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Hey, at least the kid's a realist, lol.

Of course, the loser asshole's loser s***head parents blame the old lady because she tapped the brakes and the stupid little f***ing mental case ALMOST fell. Kid's got a laundry list of assaults in his past and his asshat parents keep blaming others. Dumbf***s like that need to PULL OUT. Make sure your defective genetics don't affect another generation.
