QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 08:06 PM) Could be that they're just outplaying the Wings. They ABSOLUTELY outplayed the Wings. They withstood the early outburst, filled passing lanes, blocked shots, controlled the boards, and frustrated the hell out of the Wings. Datsyuk was invisible tonight, as were many other Wings. Congratulations to the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins - they took the two games they had to have, and did it convincingly!! -
QUOTE (almagest @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) I'd wait until he saved me, then boo him. I'd tell him that Aaron Rowand would have saved me better. FWIW, put me in the camp of "personal attacks bad, negativity good (or at least acceptable)". I don't want to see over-modding of the site. That would bland things up in a hurry. In almost any thread, you can skim over the "bad posts" and find a lot of good points and interesting discussion/debate. I don't think we necessarily need to eliminate the more negative (or even the relatively pointless) posts in order to find or highlight the "better" ones. A lot of times the non-sequiturs save a thread for me by giving me something to laugh about. I like WSI (even when they can get a little stiff for my liking), but I don't need two WSI's.

Just heard 3 new tracks from the upcoming Dinosaur Jr. disc. Nothing groundbreaking, but solid Dino material as usual. I'm really liking "Over It" in particular. No Chicago date on their mini-tour yet.

Seems that Batista is still the champion for now, as the ref never reached the count of 10. I'm sure the belt will be given to Orton unless Tripsy demands a #1 contender vs. the guy who just came back from a long break match. And it appears from the Smackdown spoilers that . -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 07:08 AM) Trophy? I heard it is come kind of cup. Who needs another one of those? I have a whole bunch of souvenier cups in my cupboards from when I was a kid. It's actually a big silver salad bowl mounted on a trophy. It sounds tacky, but it looks quite nice. Except, of course, for all the graffiti etched on it - it's like a whole bunch of people scratched their names into the nice sliver plating or something. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) Hockey is still going on? Yep. Really exciting games being played, too. There's one more on Friday, and the winner gets a VERY nice trophy. If you're over 50 years old, you may remember seeing that trophy in Chicago once. -
They're not booing, they're saying "YOOOOOOOOUUUUUU shouldn't be playing that much".

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 06:15 AM) The station is re-tread of old personalities, and a couple young guys who are given a shot and only time will tell with them. I liked listening to Doug and OB after Bears games, but I'm not gonna bring up the stream online when I can just turn on a radio. So for that aspect, I hope there is a simulcast. Other shows, I don't really care to listen to. Who is Boom Boom? Never heard of him. Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, former boxer. As a talk show guy......well, he was a decent boxer.

A Thai newspaper printed a photo of Carradine in the hotel room - you can find it online easily if you want to. The photo does show him hanging nude, but both of his hands appear to be tied over his head. This would throw into question the auto-erotic asphyxiation scenario, and also the idea that this was a suicide. Curiouser and curiouser....

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 07:59 AM) ....Speaking of man cards being taken away. How does one possibly not like Taken? One of Digilio's points about The Hangover was "how would they have a stolen cop car for like 12 hours??" Like a stupid comedy needs to be plausible to be enjoyable. The idea and execution of Taken's storyline was far more improbable than anything that happened in The Hangover. Plus, Liam Neeson is a block of wood. If I need to like Taken to have a "man card", you can have it.

WGN's Nick "The Contrarian" Digilio tore into The Hangover tonight on his show, saying he barely laughed at all and he couldn't understand why everyone around him was laughing. I swear, that guy only likes movies everyone else hates. That seems to be his gimmick - he talked up that stupid Liam Neeson movie like it was sent down from Heaven by angels, yet he can't see any humor in The Hangover. riiiiiiiiight......

Orton probably punts Batista in the head tonight on Raw anyway, to set up Dave's time away and get another title reign in the process. I've been reading speculation all over the 'net that Punk will go or has gone heel. I think Punk can be a really good snobby, holier-than-thou straight-edge heel if creative plays it right. -
Things will be fine once the weather warms up.

Let me add one more positive review of The Hangover - I laughed A LOT. Zach Galifinakis and Ed Helms were especially great, and Heather Graham didn't have enough lines to f*** it up. Highly recommended!!

DAMN, that's a lot of candles! Happy berfday, Ni!!

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) I love Green Day, but this new album is fairly disappointing. I have a few theories, mainly that the album is too long and it's sequenced wrong - but the main failure is the production. Butch Vig is just wrong for them - their old stuff, while well-produced, had an aggression to the songs that is lacking from this album. He sanitized them, and while doing so, made them boring. It's too bad. I'm curious to hear how the songs sound live, and I'll bet they're better. The new songs sound to me like they'll kick ass live. I agree about the production - too glossy, too many effects, especially that "old-timey radio sound" on some of the vocals. Green Day has always been a terrific live band. I'm very excited to see them next month.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Ok. As long as it is written. The first article posted didn't mention his twigs and berries. can you think of any other body part that would be referred to as "other body parts"? would they say "other body parts" if it was a leg, or foot, or ear, or hand, or knee? It was a fair assumption IMO, and appears to be correct. Although I still don't think the whole story is out there.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) Why did TNA bring back Shane Douglas? He is easily one of the most overrated workers of all time. Cuz he draws so much money? Cuz he's in such great shape? Cuz he's magic on the stick? :lolhitting :lolhitting :lolhitting -
QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) You guys are fooling yourselves if you think for a second that he wasnt juicing most of his career. But honestly I could give a s*** if he made it into the Hall. Like you guys said its filled with cheats up and down. And am I the only one that finds Hall of Fame talk extremely uninteresting and boring? With all sports IMO. Halls of Fame = yawn. The only good thing they offer is the chance to talk about old players, but with all the rumors, accusations, etc., even that's becoming boring. I find myself becoming less and less interested in any part of sports outside of the actual games. Stats, records, accolades, none of it means much to me now.....other than message boards, of course....

No way. What a f***ing stupid way to die. I'll never understand that fetish.

Well, to be fair, Orton's episode with an undersized TV host was tame compared to: Dr. D, David Schultz: or Hulk Hogan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQulUVg7tig By comparison, that little dude got off LIGHT! -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) I can't even watch Fallon. It's like witnessing a non-stop awkward moment that is constantly making you cringe. Agreed. For me, the worst part of the Tonight Show switch is that now at 3:05 AM I see a couple minutes of Jimmy Fallon's always-awkward, seldom-funny opening monologue on the replay before I leave for work.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) Punching teammates at practice when they made up afterwards is more classless than not having sportsmanship on the court? That seems a bit backwards to me. LeBron's act is alot like the act of Thomas and company when they walked off after the Bulls beat the Pistons in the playoffs, I would put LeBron on about the same level at Isiah Thomas as far as class at the moment. [iverson] Practice, man.....we're talkin bout PRACTICE. Not a game, man.....PRACTICE. We're talkin bout PRACTICE. [/iverson]
