  1. It makes the team better this year, which is great. I want them to go for it, I just absolutely hate the process.
  2. This is exactly how I feel. A penny pinching organization trading 6 years of a pitcher for a set up man making 16 million. I quit.
  3. If true, I don't get it at all.
  4. But why pay the 1 1/2 year price for a guy you're going to have for 2 months?
  5. I would have significant doubt that the Sox would trade Kimbrel in the off-season, and why would you pay the 1 1/2 year price that is heightened by the deadline demands only to turn around and trade him in the off-season and very likely get much less in return? I get what you're saying, but this team needs to spend it's resources better given the past few off-seasons and what they've shown.
  6. It's showing as vested already, but who knows if that's accurate. edit: i was wrong, it defaults to 2021 games with the 2020 issue.
  7. Exactly, and we'd be paying that closer price for a guy that isn't even going to fill that role for us. The money just doesn't make sense for this organization.
  8. I believe Kimbrel has already triggered the 16 million guaranteed next year.
  9. What rant? You mean when I had an opinion on the trade for Hernandez? Kimbrel is an eighth inning reliever for this team. The Sox don't need to be spending 30 million a year on two relievers. You show me where the Sox have ever proven they're willing to spend enough as an organization that spending 30 million on two relievers doesn't hamper them in other areas and I'll be open to it. Additionally I never once complained about Tepera, but good try. If the Sox want to play in the big boy pool, maybe go spend money or assets on players who will impact more than 20 innings the rest of the season.
  10. Yup, and if the Cubs are going to eat all the salary they'll want good talent coming back (like the Rizzo deal). Kimbrel just isn't a fit given the role he'd have on this team imo. He's an addition a team that has shown a willingness to spend makes as a luxury, not a team that is pinching pennies every off-season. Would love if we changed how we operate, but I've been fooled way too many times than to trust this organization with spending money and I don't need to hear that we can't fill holes because we gave 16 million to a set up man.
  11. Kimbrel has zero surplus value; let's say because of the deadline and the desperation he's worth more than that by a little. You're talking a 45 FV prospect, not Andrew Vaughn. Bryant has 1/2 a season left. What is he worth for that? Certainly not Andrew Vaughn. If those were the asking prices they would be absurd for this team to pay unless they want to resign Bryant - then go for it.
  12. Welcome to the Ray Ray fan club; glad to have you hanging on my every word. Sit back, relax, and strap it down!
  13. Let me speak in smart man language so you can understand. Kimbrel is owed 16 million next year. That would be the third largest annual contract the White Sox have ever given out, and we'd be giving it to an eighth inning reliever. That would be like 13% of their total payroll on an 8th inning reliever. If the Sox wanted to spend 16 million a year they should likely spend those resources on someone whose job isn't to pitch the 8th inning of games.
  14. This is bonkers to me. The Sox don't spend big money on FA's, and you'd want to give 16 million a year to Kimbrel while ALSO giving up a young pitcher with 6 years of control and electric stuff? That's a huge NO from me, dog. Unless you mean only if Bryant was included, but for just Kimbrel that would be a flat out raping by the Cubs.
  15. And for a team that cries poor every off-season, what a disaster it would be for the Sox to assume all that contract. Would likely mean we use him as an excuse to not spend next off-season.
  16. White Sox picking up Pirates DFA's.
  17. I almost like him more because he has proven he can throw multiple innings.
  18. Portillos with first hand knowledge of Rick's phone records. Amazing stuff.
  19. Yeah, but you have to figure 2-3 guys below a first round comp rating would be a better return.
  20. I go to bed every night hoping I can be as smart as you. Maybe one day I'll achieve such bold aspirations.
  21. So the Cubs traded Rizzo who they claim they wanted go resign but may not trade bryant who they have zero intention on resigning. Amazing stuffn
  22. White Sox are the team acting like they get there all the time and there will be plenty of chances despite being the one team who absolutely should never take for granted getting there given their track record. Its a shame.
  23. Great, cease has proven to be a good player in the big leagues. He's worth more than gray imo
  24. How did they give them a ticket to the world series lol. Why do people talk like this in baseball?
  25. Ah didn't see ruiz. I think cease probably higher valued than josiah though
