7/19- Twins at Sox Gm 1, 4:10
Grand slam coming right up.

Upper Level
1 inning for food is a really long time and the concessions was a complete disaster on Friday night. Lines were longer than I've ever seen them in my life.

Burger called up
Agreed

7/17- Astros at White Sox, 6:15
This is who Lucas usually is against the best teams in the game. With exception of red Sox earlier this year, Lucas usually dominates the best and struggles a bit with the bums. It's weird

Burger called up
I know it's only been a few games but Jesus christ it would he hard to trade burger. No baseball for three years, comes back and spits on MLB pitching. Amazing story,

Lance Lynn locked up 2 years 38 mill + club option
The Sox are not trading Cease.

Should Tim Anderson try to add more power to his game?
His swing and approach aren't made for power right now. I believe he is disappointed he's not hitting 15-20 HR's but but right now his approach with letting the ball get deep isn't great for power for a smaller guy who needs pull power to hit it out.

ReyLo skipped at AAA: Spot start? Hug watch? stayed tuned
The concept of starting a guy who is awful to showcase him as if teams can't go see him suck in AAA sure is weird

Byron Buxton is likely to sign extension or be traded
With an opt out, sure. But with no opt out he'd be nuts to lock himself in until 35 with his talent. Guy finally has put it all together imo. I'd give up pretty much any piece for Buxton if I were the sox. Any non-mlb piece, but I'd consider crochet/burger type deal, then lock Buxton up.

Byron Buxton is likely to sign extension or be traded
I think he'd be a fool to sign 7 for 70 at 27. Guy has been the best player in baseball when he's played this year. His injuries have been terrible luck. I'd love the sox to trade for and extend Buxton for more than that.

Machado and Harper: Hindsight
apparently chitownsports is also smarter than GM's and baseball analysts because he reviewed some publicly available baseball data and determined that Lindor wasn't worth anywhere near what the entire market dictated and expected him to be worth.

The guy doesn't even really have a good arm at this point. Theres nothing to fix. Hes just bad.
-
Machado and Harper: Hindsight
A commitment to winning starts and ends with the checkbook. Signing a freaking pitching coach doesn't symbolize a commitment to winning. Jfc

More Moncada hot takez
How is Moncada clearly not as good as Kopech? Are you sure you know what the word clearly means?

More Moncada hot takez
Huh? Toews was out because of chronic immune response syndrome.

More Moncada hot takez
But I thought he was hurt?

More Moncada hot takez
I mean, Freddie has an 871 ops after starting incredibly slow. wRC+ is 132 and it was 138 two years ago. Not only that but freddie a 187 wrc last year while having covid.

2021 MLB Draft Day 2 Thread
- Rodon, Lynn, Hendriks, Anderson all stars
Cash literally said on the presser that he wanted to do it and even called to ask Manfred to change the rule to treat him as two separate players for the sake of the game. This isn't some vast conspiracy.- Rodon, Lynn, Hendriks, Anderson all stars
I know, that's why I noted I was responding to another poster and not you. I'd already argue Ohtani didn't earn the All-Star collection as a pitcher in the first place. I get your point of bringing eyes to the event but I just have my doubts.- Rodon, Lynn, Hendriks, Anderson all stars
This was Cash, not Manfred. Have to wonder if Cash would have done this if Glasnow was healthy.- Rodon, Lynn, Hendriks, Anderson all stars
“I mean, half the innings as anybody else, to start the game is probably not the best [choice] among the players,” Lynn told the Sun-Times. “There are quite a few people who’ve had better first halves, for sure.” Lynn absolutely cares; he cared enough to say something about it before it was named. “I’ll put my name in the hat, for sure,” Lynn said. These guys want to earn the accolade. I hate giving it to Ohtani just because it's a good journalistic story. Journalists are fawning over it. The guy arguably didn't even earn a spot on the team as a pitcher int he first place.- Rodon, Lynn, Hendriks, Anderson all stars
Hard disagree here from me. and the players, the Sox players, absolutely do care (responding to the person who said they don't care). “I mean, half the innings as anybody else, to start the game is probably not the best [choice] among the players,” Lynn told the Sun-Times. “There are quite a few people who’ve had better first halves, for sure.”- 2021 MLB Draft Day 2 Thread
That's fine, and again I don't hate the picks, but high school players are riskier and getting draft picks to the big leagues to be productive is really the name of the game. I know we all want the next superstar, but getting average to above average big leaguers year after year is how you maintain success. Just like in everything sports related, the "unknown" always feels more exciting - which is what high schoolers are - but there's nothing wrong with getting big leaguers in the draft who might have "limited" ceilings which has proven to be a bunch of BS time and time again. - Rodon, Lynn, Hendriks, Anderson all stars
