  1. The problem with Larussa is he may have forgotten more than you ever knew but he also has forgotten it all. The same larussa jock sniffers will blame everyone but Tony. Now it's MLB fault larussa doesn't know rules they told manager in spring lol
  2. When Tony takes over October? Lol what does that even mean? I wasn't a part of spring training where managers were told clearly and multiple times about the rule so it would be hard to expect me to know it. You know?
  3. Guys, I'm beginning to think OP's original post wasn't great.
  4. I remember LaRussa putting the pitcher in the lineup earlier in the year in an AL-only game via a late game double switch. The Sox didn't blow the lead, so it didn't matter, but saying that this is an NL only rule or something, as an excuse, is nonsense. LaRussa has put his pitcher in a lineup before in an AL ballpark. He should know the rules.
  5. Yes, he said he would do it again and doesn't regret it. The guy is lost.
  6. Yeah, no. We'll agree to disagree. A steal attempt with Garcia decreases your expected runs there. Guy stole 15 bags in 600 AB's in 2019. Caught 5 times. Even picking his spots in 2019 perfectly he was caught 25% of the time. No point in arguing about it though.
  7. For one, clearly every single NL manager knows the rule. Even arguing otherwise is offensive. Regardless, others incompetence does not justify ones own.
  8. You have to get one before you get two. Stealing there with a non-good base stealer doesn't increase the expected runs scored. In fact, it decreased it.
  9. Maybe? Maybe not. Maybe Lamb goes yard and shocks the world. They held them to zero runs through 10. Things can be different when trailing in that 10th inning than tied. The managers job is to know the rules. Pretty deflating to score zero there.
  10. He argued with Fegan, who I think asked the question, and Fegan had to reread the rule so the old guy could understand better. I don't know how you keep the clubhouse after these gaffe's. Managers usually mean very little - using the "wrong pitcher" in our opinion is a gaffe usually which has a small variance from expected outcomes. Not knowing the rules put Hendriks at risk on the bases, and then puts the team behind in their chance to win. Pretty amazing incompetence you don't see everyday.
  11. They were in a position to score, but their manager decided he didn't think it was a good idea. They needed 1 run there. They put themself in a position to get one, and the manager removed that chance.
  12. Not knowing the rules should honestly be a fireable offense. That's... his only job and baseball doesn't exactly have a lot of rules.
  13. Tony called for the steal too. Honestly the guy should be fired, right away. He even said it wasn't a mistake to run Leury.
  14. Apparently the rule does not require you to make the pitcher run. Could have used Abreu instead. LaRussa being told the rule right now in the press conference hahahhaahha
  15. Our manager legitimately does not know the rules, if you can't just laugh at that then you're doing this fanhood thing all wrong.
  16. I still can't believe what I just saw hahaha Doesn't walk Weinker to give a force at every base there too. He honestly just has no clue what he's doing.
  17. It would almost never be a smart play. Leading run is on 3rd base and you just made the second out at second base with the fastest base runner in the game standing at the plate. He wasn't getting doubled up. In that situation, the runner on 3rd was all that mattered in the moment. They were throwing through regardless there - I guess maybe not if you have some elite speed on 3rd but for most hitters they're throwing through there. I'm just amazed honestly. I can't believe it happened lol
  18. That SB attempt was one of the most bone headed plays I've ever seen called for by a manager- assuming that was the case lol.
  19. I think it was Larussa. Leury moved two pitches in a row. Id bet anything larussa had no idea the pitcher would be the guy on 2nd with his double switch - also dumb..then assumed they wouldn't throw threw because he's stuck in 1995. Lol
