  1. Reinsdorf has made a lot of mistakes - the strike being front and center. He has certainly wanted to control salary growth, but at no point in Jerry's modern tenure-1995-2012 could you call him "cheap" or a money hoarder. Maybe he was cheap when it came to development, prospects and investment in the farm, but he was never cheap when it came to % of revenue spent on payroll. For an EXTENDED period of time (10ish years) he spent the highest % of revenue on payroll in all of baseball. He just didnt invest it all in one player or two. Jerry has proven time and time again as an owner in Chicago that he will spend money on a team that wins. He has even spent on some losing teams in that time. He's never going to be the Red Sox, Yankees or Dodgers but the White Sox are also never going to earn like those teams. there's been a good percentage of years that he did outspend the Cubs despite not out earning them. I hate on Jerry for a lot - he's too risk averse at the upper echelon of talent when risk has to be taken there - but he's not some greedy shit head spending decades robbing fans of the revenue they generate for the team.
  2. Watson has a horrible pass blocking line. He didnt look good this week but his career has been significantly better and more consistent than mitch's so far.
  3. I actually thought this as well. Bears were gassed and not moving the ball against the defense. Denver had home field and didnt extend the game. It worked in theory but I thought it was a mistake by fangio as well.
  4. So hes a QB who isnt good if he has to pass but can be a very good QB with the right scheme? Not buying it one bit. The problem with mitch is when he extends plays hes not accurate with the ball so he doesnt receive the entire benefit of that.
  5. The evidence is that for a 16 year window the White Sox spent top 3 of revenue on payroll in all of baseball. Even if they dont go that far again, they certainly havent spent decades hoarding revenue.
  6. The biggest thing the White Sox have going for them is that RF and DH have been so bad that adding MLB caliber players there gives you about 8 wins alone if you change nothing else.
  7. The Bears had 153 yards on 29 carries. Trubisky didnt get sacked once. He was hit 3 times. The Bears averaged more yards per rush than yards per pass attempt.
  8. Lol you guys are nuts. Bennetti one of the best play by play guys in all of sports. The anti-benneti stuff by some is comical and just shows sox fans will b**** about anything.
  9. Cant really decide when you give up homers so all you can do is limit base runners in general and hope you dont get screwed by sequencing. His WHIP is 1 and he gave up a 3 run homer, bad break. I really hope someone asks Ricky why the fuck he's bunting with the teams best hitter.
  10. Wasn't watching, figured he squared once for a hit but that doesnt sound like the case.
  11. I mean it shows up... he had a good WHIP and great K/BB. That shows up in the box score. No biggie. He was dominant but fell the victim of hit sequencing and a blast. Not anything to fret about.
  12. Ahhh, not watching so did not know that. I would change that assessment then and I would fire Ricky tonight.
  13. Wonder if we'll get an update from our buddy Josh over at Soxmachine on Yoan's "second half" numbers.
  14. I'm like 99% sure Ricky did not tell Yoan Moncada to bunt but I cant with 100% certainty because there is a 1% possibility ricky is that dumb.
  15. Shocked if the Red Sox traded one of their few young controllable and cheap assets given their contract issues. That said, the talent differential between the two of them was always really obvious.
  16. I remember when a lot of Sox fans complained that the Sox didn't get Benetendi instead of Yoan after last year. That was funny stuff.
  17. Even the top level analytics people arent making anywhere near top level players make in the finance industry. At that point though youd be making enough to sacrifice the difference if you love baseball. At the entry level and mid-tier level the pay is just significantly lower.
  18. Reverse splits his entire career too. Not just this year. Guy is a dope.
  19. Yeah but it was still a ball. So call it a ball. I get the point - strike zone consistency. But NO batter wanted the pitch called a strike to mccann being called a strike all game to everyone. Neither were strikes and neither should have been called strikes. The one being called a strike should have no impact on calling the next ball a strike. Ps. Umpires and pitchers suck and are just a necessary evil so that people can watch who really entertains them; the real players.
  20. Not really Just because you fucked up one call doesnt mean you should fuck up other ones. He just shouldnt have fucked up that one he did.
