  1. Chris Archer was worse than Ivan Nova and he was in the NL. Archer is awful now.
  2. I think, at this point, Hader is a reliever. The Brewers have had SP issues, yet they've never attempted to stretch him out. It appears that his 3rd pitch never quite developed, and he is certainly a max effort guy as a reliever - you have to wonder how much juice and life his fastball would lose as a starter. The reluctance of the Brewers to put him there would lead me to believe that he just didn't play up as a starter. Reminds me a bit of the Aroldis Chapman situation.
  3. We get that you dont like Madrigal. If the Sox thought Madrigal was only as good as Yolmer they would likely trade him. I agree it's important to be able to evaluate your talent in house and move the pieces you think are overrated. That's important for a rebuild as well. I just dont think the sox should be in a position to move any of their huge prospects that were listed - maybe Vaughn if they felt inclined. Kopech and cease? Too risky to move either imo. Madrigal and Robert? Floors are too high to move those guys imo.
  4. Why give up assets when you can buy those pieces for nothing but money when going young was supposed to open up your financial flexibility?
  5. Idk, I imagine he has budgets every season and this just gave him a little more flexibility this year by putting 5 million on last years budget.
  6. They put it on 2019. I imagine for their budgetary purposes it bought them an additional 5 million this year. It's an article posted in the abreu thread here. Says it's only 11 million this year for them for abreu.
  7. There was a link posted here.
  8. Abreu signing bonus was put into 2019
  9. Would love to do another like this. I have one league going 15 years. Would love to add a second. $500 min would be great as a buy in because the time commit is significant. If we cant get 10-12 at $500, we could try $300. I'm interested.
  10. So it looks like none of these roster moves meant anything.
  11. Who said he hasnt been claimed?
  12. These high inning post seasons historically have had a pretty significant impact on starters the following year - not everyone has been a victim of it, but enough have been to be concerned. Especially given his history.
  13. Wheeler. Especially after the mileage on Stras this year. Wouldnt be shocked if he struggled a bit next year.
  14. Pomeranz isnt a starter and who knows how his arm will bounce back daily as a reliever - it certainly couldn't handle the starter work load. This seems like an incredibly risky contract - pom also hasn't exactly been a glowing example of strike throwing as a starter.
  15. You dont give good players away for nothing just because you're rebuilding. That philosophy hurts the game.
  16. Why trade for him when you know the organizatio is cheap as fuck and you might get a chance at him for free? Obviously run the risk of someone else taking him, but better than giving up an asset for him.
  17. Urias change came years ago - it's not as if he changed it in the middle of last year. Urias certainly has a higher ceiling Grisham, and I think the brewers did really well here. Grisham is a safe bet to be an average regular but I think urias could become a star. Guys with his build tend to take longer to grow into their power.
  18. 10 million isnt expensive even if you think villar is only worth half of his WAR last year.
  19. This. Its embarrassing for the game when shit like this happens. Villar is definitely not someone who should be let go because he's owed 10 million.
  20. I doubt his velocity ever gets back to where it was when he was an elite prospect - hes had far too many arm injuries. That said, he still generates swings and misses and his slider is nice.
  21. Hes got high end stuff though. AL East pitching for a god awful organization vs top level competition cant be difficult. Bundy still could have untapped potential.
  22. 3 years 30 million. Not a bad deal for the rangers. Gibson has always been better analytically than his production has been. I dont see that changing but hes a dependable back end starter.
  23. Yeah, only way I see this as possible right now is: Sox felt close yesterday. Got it done this afternoon, released Burr in a corresponding move, and they'll announce tomorrow same as Grandal. If they don't announce tomorrow, than this is just a bunch of nonsense because they're not keeping anything under wrap for 3 days and they're not making roster moves because of something they might do.
