  1. He's not close? What?
  2. He is one of the greatest college hitters ever.
  3. This draft is top heavy so not sure why you think that. You want a top 4 pick in this draft. For everyone who loves bishop - its another questionable hit tool power hitter. Love his athleticism but far too risky at 4 imo.
  4. You've spent the majority of your time playing devils advocate simply making things up - like Vaughn struggling vs good competition.
  5. Let me add that if the white Sox offense continues to progress, and Robert is a star and madrigal is a fine at 2nd then this team was better off spending money on pitching than hitting anyway - time will tell if they do that though.
  6. What is the point of you always stating this over and over? So far, machado hasnt been great by any means. It's not the ballpark, it's his offensive game - its had inconsistencies forever. What I find odd is even if machado ended up not being worth anywhere near 300 million, you'd still be here bad mouthing the Sox for missing out
  7. This is just laughable and you continue to say it. If you dont get a guy who is arguably the greatest right handed hitter of all time, it's not worth it. So apparently if you get Pete Alonso (who Vaughn is much better than so far) it would be a bust.
  8. Are you seriously citing a 10 at bat sample?
  9. Jack has been making up nonsense about Vaughn the entire thread. Not sure why.
  10. So Vaughn has to be a hofer or hes a failure but other guys can be less? Wtf. Jack, calling vaughns bat a dime a dozen just shows your lack of knowledge on vaughn.
  11. You said hes bad against good competition. Show me that. Or Vaughn is a historically good bat prospect. You ever think of that?
  12. Age matters because it's a big advantage to be 2 years older than kids your playing against.
  13. Kid is older than some kids entering their junior year of college. Doesnt even qualify to play on a lot of high school travel teams because hes so old. Vaughn is a generational bat. To pass on Vaughn for some kid 2 years older than some of his peers would be bad. What is athletic about him? Even for his age he grades out under the 50th percentile in pretty much every athletic trait.
  14. It's not about being bold. This is what's happening.
  15. The Sox are drafting either Abrams, Vaughn or Adley. No one else.
  16. Drafting Betty would be reckless.
  17. Kid isnt toolsy enough for me. Not a guarantee to be athletic enough to stick at third. If someone took Betty over Vaughn they should be certified into the local facility.
  18. 99% of late minute draft hype is about driving the guy you actually wants price down.
  19. Guy just had an 1050 ops in Cape cod and Jack is telling me he always struggles vs good competition
  20. What are you talking about? He plays in the pac 12 and hes been the best summer hitter in the amateur scene for two years in a row. This is complete nonsense. Once again Jack, stop making things up and present some facts here.
  21. Lol what? Show me where he's struggle vs anyone. He's been the best summer hitter as well.
  22. Have to be concerned about time away from the game with Keuchel and kimbrel at this point. Would take them 3 weeks to get close to full speed I feel like. I'd like to just call up cease and Robert and let the kids play through some stuff together.
  23. Yeah, maybe they focus on different things. Weird, I know. It's almost like they prioritize something else maybe? This may blow your mind, but some players don't want very much data at all. They don't want to do a lot of thinking. What do you do with them? Some of those players could be the best players in baseball. You don't hand out a packet and give weekly tests. This isn't the NFL with playbooks. If a player asks and you don't have it, that's a problem. I could understand doing analysis, finding a deficiency with a player and improving it, but framing in general was in its infancy stages in regards to valuing, and still has its validity and efficiency issues today. Stealing strikes or losing balls is subjective to the decision making of another human that is not you.
  24. A reach, sure... exaggeration to press a point, sure.. I guess. Dumb is a rebuttal without substance. The point I was making is I always find the business side of sports to be comically reactionary and absurd - this would include the thing you are alluding too. Getz could certainly have been intelligent enough - as a Michigan graduate. Hiring from someone you know is standard and completely normal in the big corporate world - almost preferred! 80% of jobs are networked without and public exposure. In sports, you could be a top 5-7 winningest coach over a 10 year period and be fired for not being top 3. Its absurd. In regards to Getz, we'll see what happens. You don't ever catch up if you're always copying.
