  1. lol pal, this isn't some desk job. The field is the field, dugout the dugout, and clubhouse the clubhouse. You think they're doing meet and greets and discussing things they like to do in their free-time before the game?
  2. Because the Sox don't have anyone else they want to add to the 40 man. When Eloy comes back they'll move Mendick to the 60 day.
  3. I'll add Calhoun is a prime Giants-convert success story offensively. He's always had great underlying numbers, but something about his production didn't mesh with his skill-set. If any team can maximize those offensive tools, it's the Giants but still. Calhoun has no position.
  4. Willie Calhoun is a positionless baseball player and you wanted Hahn to acquire him despite the Sox having 12 of those guys? Man, between this and Kelenic, I think the game is passing you by Harold!
  5. Honestly, it's difficult for me to project Sosa because the subset of his production that projects well is 60 games. How aggressive I want to rate those 60 games, given that it was an approach and swing change is TBD. Also have to account for the fact this was his first time ever repeating a level (unless we count Rookie ball), so that may mean it could take him a bit to get acclimated to the big leagues and immediate struggles aren't out of the question. I'll also say though that Sosa has been one of the most impressive producers in the minors this year; give his ballpark, his age and level. His ISO jumping to 218 is pretty significant, but more important than anything is the k-rate reduction. It'd be nice if he walked a bit more given that the walk rate likely dips a bit and the k rate will hike in the big leagues. Ironically enough, I think I'd be thrilled to get anywhere near current-year Danny Mendick production; although I find it more likely his OBP dips, power holds (Birmingham is a tough place to hit for power) and his k-rate hikes so you see a player in the 240 range with a 475ish slug. That said, I think his potential range of outcomes is massive given the adjustments he's made and the possibility that he unlocked something permanently that makes him a very good major league player. So in a way... I'm copping out a bit to the question because his development has been the opposite of linear and I'm not sure where the ceiling is at this point.
  6. Terrible break for mendick. He'd been playing great. Baseball is a cruel game.
  7. Lol this has been one of the three worst umpires games behind home plate I've witnessed in my life.
  8. The only time in baseball bunting makes sense is in the final Inning of a game when you just need one run...
  9. Only thing you can't do is strike Out. Gotta put that ball in play. Jfc
  10. Who knew, graveman gave up zero earned runs and that's better than the 3 the sox gave up in the 8th.
  11. Yeah, who knew a runnner starts on second in the 8th now too.
  12. I disagree. A lot of people underestimating that jump by zimmer.
  13. Ever try running full speed through a waste high ball while coming in?
  14. Bradley Zimmer with a hell of a jump there
  15. Both. Graveman has pitched once since the 13th. He wasn't available today ? Kelly once since the 14th What are we even doing? Davis Martin? Guys starter. Vaughn and Luis mania
  16. I just dont get it. How can your 8th inning guys not pitch b2b.
  17. So graveman and Kelly can neither pitch b2b games and they're relievers who we gave multi-year deals too lol
  18. 330/380/505. Keep it up, kid! Think he starts walking a bit more in the second half. Not sure he catches Tim in avg, though. Guy is just a machine.
  19. Kimbrel gonna have a 5 Era at the deadline. Hahn salivating at his low price!
  20. Sox have near guaranteed better replacements for Harrison in the minors. Don't think the injuries are an excuse at all.
  21. Jennings threw over 1000 big league innings, Khalil Green played 736 big league games, Mike Zunino is in his 10th MLB season, and McKay made the majors real fast and broke down and go hurt. Kip Bouknight was born 10 years before me so you're really digging going back there. I'd say 4 of those 5 aren't busts.
  22. He's had it for 14 years and nothing about the ligament has changed. I'd say that is great news all around; not sure why it's turned doom and gloom here.
  23. Fair enough; as I've gotten older, I tend to reserve my empathy for those who experience true hardships. For all I know she understands and doesn't care. 50% of marriages are ending in divorce these days, if I had to be empathetic for 50% of all married people I'd run out of thoughts and prayers to send!
