QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 12:36 PM) Nitpicking, but wasn't Colbert an "end of recruitment" commit? Technically Jordan and DJW were too - Jordan visited everyone in the Midwest before deciding on the Illini. Illinois is right there with Thomas, sounds like they are very in it with Bragg, and Murray might reclassify. If the results on the court this year are good, you have to think that helps with both Bragg and Murray. I assume the staff is going to kick the tires on Lovett to see if it's a good fit as well. Unfortunate to lose a guy that Illinois was the favorite for until the last month, but that's recruiting. Coleman takes a lot of the sting out of this one. Finally, Self didn't "win" one of these recruitments until Villanueva really (I don't remember the Dee recruitment being all that fierce and Deron fell into Self's lap). Yea, Self really did a good job pulling in Villanueva.... to UConn? -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) And apparently ND is pulling out of the Coleman recruitment. Looks like UNLV or Illinois. Down to the final 2. Again. Because of handlers... There's a reason IU, Purdue, OSU, MSU, etc.... have put hardly any time into the kid. UNLV will have what those guys are looking for. The red flags for those programs went up 2 years ago when he became even too expensive for Cathedral HS. -
Coaching, Creating a winning environment

As a fellow head coach (baseball), I'd advise one thing... Play the guys who give you the best chance to win. After all, it is your job. Two years ago I took on a rebuild and made it clear the best guys we're going to play (whether thats a senior or a freshman). The young guys were much more talented and had a much higher ceiling than the Jr's/Sr's, and boy did they take their lumps the past two years. Fast forward to this year, those kids are now Jr/Sr's and have the program ranked for the first time in years going into next season. Spend your time where it all starts.... At the bottom. -

Which BTW, I've taken a ton of s*** for supporting… But most of you we're right. This guy is not suitable to run a program. (Especially SoxBadger, we've been at it plenty.. But you were spot on for a few years now. My apologies man…) -

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 06:37 PM) Guy who's my source points out that all these kids like Jahlil. Cliff, and Jalen are close and cites the way Illinois fans treated Cliff after he chose Kansas as a reason kids won't go to Illinois, including Brunson. I hate Illinois, but your "source" blows. That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. That's like me saying "I'm so excited for the direction of Indiana's basketball program under Tom Crean!"… It's stupid. -
Tough to watch anymore IMO... Most of the best younger players haven't been playing Little League for past 5-7 years. Can't stand LL rules and all the new ones they keep implementing.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 11:11 PM) What can you Purdue folks tell me about Ronnie Johnson (other than his stats)? Apparently he's visiting Tennessee this week. As long as you can tolerate the floater and the blunts, you'll like him. -

Not official on Hammons yet… That report was from a fake twitter. He has plenty of people pushing him to go, but I'd still be surprised if he does. Would be a mistake IMO. -

I'd assume playing time for all three of Hollowell/Perea/Etherington. With the two dynamic guards we have coming in in Blackmon/Johnson (to go along with Williams/Robinson/Yogi already on board), there's just not much time for Hollowell/Etherington, as neither has shown the ability to be consistant or shoot. As for Perea, he hasn't seen the floor in weeks. He may stay, but it's looking more and more like Indiana is going to pick up Anthony Lee. -

I've heard for months Hollowell wants out, just like Ronnie Johnson from Purdue. They want to play together somewhere. Colorado or Washington would be ideal for them, if you catch my drift... Other names I've heard were Perea, Etherington, and Jurkin. We will see... -

Think it will be Iowa State or Indiana for Anthony Lee. He randomly just started following Crean, IndianaMBB, and Robert Johnson (Indiana signee) on twitter yesterday out of nowhere. Follows no other team or coach, so it's at least a minor positive sign he's interested. Think he's visiting ISU soon. Indiana has a big need in the frontcourt and will have open scholarships. I was told to expect up to 3 transfers. -
How is it possible that Andrew Dakich gets more airtime than basically any of the players actually playing the game of basketball?

How does a referee not call that hook on OSU? That was absolutely brutal. I'd punch that ref if I was Bo Ryan. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 26, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) Bertrand hacked 4 times on the first or second play of the half near the paint. No call. Tate barely touches Ferrell on the perimeter. Call. lol... #Illinifans -

Can't see McGary ever being a first rounder... One, he's extremely old for a sophomore, he's older than Zeller. Two, the NBA probably won't let him take a ton of Adderall before each game. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) Holy crap. That dude was pissed. As a co-worker just said: "I'm sure there was a woman involved" That's what it sounds like.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) Shooting on campus at Purdue Dude walked into the class where the TA was working... Shot him point blank 3 times in the chest. Pulled out an army knife, slashed throat ear to ear. Then stuck knife in the guys forehead and walked outside and turned himself into police. WTF

Groce reminds me of Crean, except crazier on the sidelines and maybe not as good of a recruiter. Not a bad coach, but like Crean, you just don't see him ever winning the big one. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 05:11 PM) I think that theyll have either Tony Bennett or Greg Gard take over. I actually have no clue what you are talking about (whats new). In the X years ive seen you post here, this is probably the most complimentary thing youve ever said about Wisconsin. So sure, if this is your opinion, then I have no reason why we are arguing. Its just that 1) youve never stated anything like this before and your back tracking now or 2) I completely zone out when I read your posts because I just presume that its nothing more than haterade. I strongly suspect that its 1. Mutual. -

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Illinois is somehow -6 against Purdue with rayvonte rice a game time decision. This looks like a gift from the heavens, as I would take Purdue even with rice playing here. Somehow the Illini will win by 7 because Vegas always knows... I hope Illinois wins by 50. And Rice better play!
