  1. Take a step back- If the Phillies are eating half of Thome's contract as the report said this could turn out to be a genius move by KW. He is taking a risk because Thome is coming off a terrible injury riddled season. But if he performs up to his capability then KW just stole a freakish talent in Jim Thome for Aaron Rowand. Aaron Rowand is a guy who plays with his heart on his sleeve. He plays hard and he plays with emotion, but he is replacable. What is the strength of the White Sox minor leagues right now? The outfield. He's taking a gamble but I have no reason to not approve of anything he does at this point.
  2. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) BUT ESPN NEVER GIVES US ANY RESPECT, REMEMBER? Phhh...we already decided that our game was chosen for Sunday Night because its the Indians season opener...It has nothing do with us. :rolly
  3. Sweet...now I can actually go to the Home Opener!!! Accountants don't exactly get days off very easily during the month of April
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) G.. LP's...? Like records..? Uh...yeah Like Records This is vital information that must be answered Oh another fyi...finally got called by a ticket rep...my seats suck but I'm now a proud season ticket holder. I wasn't very friendly on the phone though As for your family situation, you're a weirdo, beyond help
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) How far extended is acceptable (or un.. ) when inviting people over for the holiday's...?? Depends...if you're planning on inviting them over for Thanksgiving Day or Christmas day they probably have less-extended family parties to attend. But if you want to have them over the weekend before christmas or something then you can probably go pretty far down the family tree...obviously, every family situation is different. Except for the fact that we all have that one uncle that were not supposed to talk about. Sidebar: Does Jim have any LP's?
  6. QUOTE(gar102 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Went to the sports show last night. Sox players are getting respect from autograph seekers. They added Contreras $99 and Joe Crede $79 for Sunday afternoon. Pods and Jenks are almost sold out and they are only doing first come first serve for the last of the tickets on Sunday morning at 9:30 am. I heard from a vendor that they are selling 1500 tickets for autographs for pods. That sounds like a good afternoon of work for him. Other players are at other sites in weeks ahead Hopefully, the big names will still come to Soxfest and not try to make more money on the side wow...that is all
  7. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Dear all Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan St fans: Please revisit this thread in January, when Big Ten play starts. Thank you. But, but, but....Oh ok fine My only question is how come the Iowa fans (Gage) get excluded from this...
  8. He hits the ball so cleanly and his movement on the court is just something that I've never seen before. Nalbandian played perfect Tennis the first two sets and still couldn't beat Federer. It is hard to determine who truly is/was the best tennis player ever since the game has changed so much over the years with the change in tennis rackets over the years. But no doubt he is already in the team picture with the best ever players. He simply is dominating the sport...
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) You should try their breakfast, better than MCd's I'll definitely do that...I'm not much of a McDs breakfast fan anyway. Their food is ridiculously greasy. If I ever eat a fast food breakfast I'll hit up BK. Croissanwich>mcmuffin
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) No Pot Belly's love so far? For Shame I've turned into a pretty big Potbellys fan...The Wreck is a quality sandwich
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) DAMMIT! First Julius Jones, then Terrell Owens, NOW Donovan McNabb. Who's next on my team? Antonio Gates? Ha I have that beat... I have Terrell Owens, Ben Rothliesberger, and Preist Holmes Plus I was carrying four RB's: Priest Holmes, Thomas Jones, Willie Parker and Fred Taylor. All four were out last week.

    "My Humps"

I had "my lumps" up there as the worst song going right now till I heard the song "laffy taffy" once you hear this one, which should be sooner rather than later you may literally throw your stereo out your car window. I have no idea who or what sings this song which no doubt compares the female form to a piece of candy but it is bad beyond belief.
  13. http://www.pickleofthemonth.com/ Ok in all seriousness, give me a few days...I'll think of some ideas. Buying for my dad is equally as difficult from what it sounds like so I'll do some research.
  14. Sorry to hear that Kyyle...best of luck finding a new job. That is some piss-poor timing too, a week before thanksgiving? Unbelievable...did you get any sort of compensation?
  15. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) there's a lot in that story. the fbi. guns. barbeque. drinking. fighting. sounds like a good time. where do i sign up? Phhhh.....sounds like my monday nights This Olin Kreutz-Fred Miller story just needs to go away....at least they are winning or this would be the only thing we would hear about for the rest of the season.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) It's not even close at this point. Aaron is so much better then Edmonds in the field, Jim is the most overrated defensive outfielder in the league, imo. Jim Edmonds = master of making the routine catch in look very unroutine. He turns very catchable balls into amazing plays almost because he chooses to do so. He has talent but his range isn't all tha great and some of his dives and stuff are pretty hilarious. Aaron has more range and doesn't turn the centerfield position into a fashion show.
  17. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Here's some Rose news. http://www.suntimes.com/output/prep/cst-spt-rose07.html Thanks...good read. I didn't like how it sounds that he really favors that bad right ankle of his...hopefully that is not as serious of an issue as that article kinda describes. As most CPL players go their recruiting is always wide open till the summer before their senior year. Then things will heat up. At least both of our teams are still on the list.
  18. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) Ouch... And who did Self get? http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=1126191 Cole Aldrich 6'11" center from MN. A top 10 player from the 2007 class...another blue-chip for the recruiting genius Bill Self.
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) LOL!!! Well, you may have just got yourself a "quote of the month" with that reply though!!! Great follow-up! It's all in good fun, I need a good rousing to help my day move a little quicker at this mortuary of a office that I work at Stay away from those pitbulls and Go Sox! Wow...quote of the month!!! YESSSSSSS...another first for me. I knew self-loathing would get me places....
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) Alright.. time out kids. Darn, you never let me have any fun. *Stomps foot* exits stage left...
  21. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) You told me to read more clearly. If you had done the same, you would have noticed that I never once made reference to your post. oops..."carefully"... I was indeed replying to your post... I am aware that you didn't make reference to my post, but I've become rather accustomed to no one replying to anything I write, so I just get involved in other people's discussions in order to build up my low self-esteem. I'm sorry to impinge on your conversation.
  22. QUOTE(He Gawn!!! @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) My thoughts exactally. The sig is his for sure. I pulled up numerous web sites and compared the autos. As long as I think its the actual ball, thats all that matters, right? Cool story... And yes thats all that matters. You have something that will always help you remember that night... Regardless of the ball's origin, its still a piece of yarn, cork, and cow hide...signed by AJP.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Meow.. hiss.. hiss.. Come and git some sista... at least i'm honest, right?
  24. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Try following your own advice. I was replying to Steff. I fail to see any advice bestowed upon you in my previous post...but thanks for the recommendation. P.S. I am very snark-y today
  25. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Clearly that is not. Your comment made it sound like the beagle your sister owns is more dangerous than the pits you have known. I would still rather take my chances with your sisters beagle than your mom's pit's anyday of the week. Wow...that is some selective reading you did there. One of this boards favorite topics is media bias...look no further than that to see why most everyone is scared s***less when they see a pitbull. Yesterdays top story was absolutely hideous and deserved the attention it recieved, however... They will span the entire city looking for these stories, but often shy away from that 'part of town' when a person is murdered. It's all about spin my friend. Make sure you read this real carefully before you come back with a reply...don't put words in my mouth.
