QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) If you're being paid a minimum of $500,000 a year...how hard would it be for you to ask either your agent or some nutritionist to check into a supplement before you take it just to make sure there's no risk of cross-contamination? Laziness is not an excuse. I understand the argument of not knowing they took something illegal for minor league players who don't have access to a slew of trainers, or cannot contact their agent directly to have someone review it, etc. But for major leagues earning large salaries they have the resources at their disposal to make sure they are following the rules. Heck, if I made a million dollars I would hire someone who has no purpose but to ensure i am not putting illegal substances in my body.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) LOL, not to mention as long as the ladies get their cut of the funds, there will be no complaints about the 'parts'. Dollars over diameter...everyone knows that
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Good point, but Eckstein getting busted would SHOCK me. Signing a fat contract will make those parts a lot less important to some. Exactly...I would walk around with my wallet in my front pocket....

QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) I read on the mlb.com message board that livan hernandez and tejada were also going to be named this afternoon around 3ish are time....im hoping this is all a bunch of BS tho, this would f*** the game of baseball up badly Links are your friend... I'm having a hard time right now sorting through all these rumors...So are they going to announce all of those fifty names that didn't exist this afternoon? Talk about a s***-storm. The game of baseball will be better once all this goes down, if a number of big names get caught, new rules will be drawn up immediately. This is the best thing that can happen in the long run.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) Weird... Quote: "I just think people want to start something with anybody," said Damon, who entered Thursday's game against the Angels hitting .331, best in the American League. "I'd be more than happy to take any test. There's no way. If I tested positive for something, it's going to be because someone threw something in a drink or did something like that." Courant Sports- Red Sox Article I relinked it because your link...well didn't work Another Interesting tidbit from that article IMO: Eckstein? Hmmm...because he hit three home runs this month?

Blue-chip recruit Rush visits Indiana

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Yep 2 steps ahead of you....Post 79... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=835681 Reading about him, I think I'd almost be more excited if he came over Rush. I really think Rush is ending up at KU. Ha...well reading is a skill, which apparently I don't possess. I kinda hope you grab him. He's always intrigued me and I'm all about this upswing which all the Big Ten teams are currently on. Personally, I still doubt Rush plays anywhere this season. But if he does Kansas sounds like the place. I'm sure Self is making promises to him that other coaches won't make when it comes to playing time, etc. Hell, we all know how good of a recruiter he is. -
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Hey, does anyone know how early you can get in to tailgate at the Cell?? My buddy and I actually have the day off of work and want to get there as early as possible to toss, grill, and drink. Thanks in advance. On the website it says the lots open two hours before the game. Thats about true but from what I've experienced get there about 2 1/2 hours before the game starts. So you can get down there at 4:30 and you should be able to get into a parking lot at around that time.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Not a loss at all, and IIRC this opens up another scholarship FWIW. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...S0601/508190480 Hey Greasy have you heard anything about the Turkish National player Cem Dinc (pronounced Gem Dench) visiting IU? I know he was being recruited by Illinois last year, played overseas last season, and has recently returned. Apparently he transformed from fringe prospect to big-time player while he was gone. I heard he will be visiting IU and UNC and possibly choosing between the two. -
Reggie Miller to retire at season's end

Does he have teeth suitable for TV?? Seriously 1-800-Dentist's will have to buy up time during the TNT broadcasts -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) Both Clemens and Damon have told the press that these rumors are false. FWIW. Hmm...Well by denying the rumors all they have to say is they have "not yet heard they are to be suspended" which would be a truth even though they are aware they tested positive. For what it's worth (FWIW)

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) THEY ARE f***ING PAYING BENSON IS THAT HARD TO f***ING UNDERSTAND? Let's see, Benson is the 4th pick, that's between 3 and 5 right? Ok so he should get paid between 3 and 5, WHICH IS WHAT ANGELO IS f***ING OFFERING Its obvious we're talking to a brick wall here...we should just let it go :headshake
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) The chances of us winning without Benson are 0.00. With Benson we stand a chance Wow you're putting a lot of trust in this Benson character. I didn't know hes the second coming of Walter Payton. :rolly It's now apparent their only mistake was drafting Benson.
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) he wants a contract identical to the #4 pick last year? He's the #4 pick this year. That makes sense to me. . . . The Bears NEVER cough up the dough for anything, what else was Jerry The Moron gonna spend this money on? Im so sick of this. I hate being a Bears fan, they are idiots. The fourth pick last year got first overall pick money because of the circumstances. Negotiation is a give and take. Benson is being unreasonable, plain and simple.
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) JUST COUGH UP THE f***ING DOUGH JERRY. JUST f***ING PAY HIM, WE NEED HIM NOW, IF YOU DONT GET THIS DONE YOURE JOB IS GONE. QUIT TRYING TO BE A f***ING HARDASS WHEN WE KNOW YOURE f***ING SPINELESS. IM GONNA GO f***ING MAD. Ugh....I think you picked the wrong side of this argument... The bears are and have been a lot of different things of late but one of them they have not been lately is cheap. They have shelled out money for big free agents (Mushin, Tait) and have gotten their picks in camp. I'm pretty sure the only unreasonable one here is Benson. You cannot break the bank on a player who has yet to gain a yard in the NFL.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Sexy red X. Uh...I can see the pic, I just don't know who it is

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Tell me this, how can adding Griffey make the O worse than it is right now? Well Hawk probably thinks it would have no effect as he would never get off the bench for the Sox...Where is he gonna play Los, where???
-
I think I liked the Griffey Trade threads better last season and in the offseason when someone would start a thread along the lines of "Griffey may be available via trade" and then ten people would pile on saying he was a washed up piece of s*** who would tear his hamstring picking up a newspaper. These new threads that seem to transcend every sign that he will not be traded here, and where everyone is gawking over him are not near as fun.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) "Nooooooooooo, Addy, you're crazy. It can't be dead-arm." Puh-leeze. :rolly You've been bitter about that for a while now...didn't I agree with you the first time you posted it anyway? Isn't that good enough? Mark has thrown alot of innings every year hes been in the league. His location has been what has hurt him the most over the past month or so. So hopefully he is tired and overthrowing a little causing him to miss his spots.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Not the blown saves category. Yes...that was already discussed. Does the fact that I was in attendance for both of Hermy's Blown Saves change the total at all? Can they be negated by my suck factor?
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) How has he been the most dominant. His numbers are similar to Hermys for god sake Statistically, he is better than Hermanson in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY. more appearances, innings, saves, wins, strikeouts, less walks, lower ERA, much lower WHIP and lower BAA. But they are similar? If by similar you mean slightly worse I agree with you.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) Can either of you give me one reason why he should win? Other than the fact that he has a pretty good ERA and Whip. I should've put a disclaimer on it. If the Yanks make the playoffs Rivera will be the Cy Young. My reasoning is simple. To me the Cy Young has always been about dominance. No starting pitcher this season in the AL has displayed dominance for long periods of time. Garland has the best chance to win it because if he can get to that magic number of 20 wins he will get alot of votes. But right now, the most dominant pitcher in the AL this year has been Rivera.
-
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) I agree with them. If you're not with us your against us Rivera is my AL Cy Young right now too
-
QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) Yeah. Actually they said it yesterday after the game on AM1000. They also had Mark Buehrle quotes after the game where he said the guys are just not having fun. Historical Ozzie Quote: "Fung is winning; Winning is fung" :rolly

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) I don't like the "we're going down..." and would have much rather heard.. "we'll turn it around.... " Paul you bastard. C'mon you know how negative Paulie is all the time. That is one of the reasons him as our spokesperson never has sat well with me. It's pretty obvious right now the team has a similar attitude about themselves that we are sharing on this board. (well the majority of us at least)
