Chicago Blackhawks Offseason Bonanza Thread
Chisoxrd5 replied to CWSGuy406's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I don't claim to know much about hockey but do we have any chance of signing Miroslav Satan?? Wasn't he released by the Devils? -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) So, how did he get bit repeatedly by spiders? Rumor has it he was appearing on an episode of Fear Factor and things went horribly horribly wrong

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) It would be $99. The wife would go too, plus parking. But we really are saving every spare $ for a down payment. You know why hes considering not going right? That night while most everyone is at the game he's gonna try to get 2,000 additional posts in to pad his posting stats...it's pretty obvious

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) I think it's been decided that there will be nametags and you will just write your own name and which site you call home on it. Name tags, this has star trek convention written all over it...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 07:40 AM) If you are asking, I could give a s*** about the whole NFL, but that is just me :sleep Personally, I don't think the NFL gets enough coverage on ESPN :rolly

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) I think LC is hotter. But god they are both so hot. This has to be some sort of rules violation to go on about how hot these two are and there is NOT ONE pic in the entire thread. I'm very disappointed, since I never watch the show...

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 07:36 AM) Well Gooch seems to want to play more. The MVP probably is sick of watching Willie and the B team kick the ball around. Gooch wants more playing time I would also grow tired quickly of watching wee willie strike out looking for the nteenth time this season. :puke He really blows. Thanks for the Timo, Pablo, and Willie lineup yesterday Ozzie. :headshake

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) Yeah I don't know when they cut me off, but I was about to tear him to shreads on the successes of the team. For the most part, I agreed with him about the stadium. How far did they let me go? Hmm...it never even made it to the part where you talked about the team itself. It basically ended right after the stadium talk. You kinda ended up sounding like his best buddy!

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) Don't know if ya'll were listening...but, I actually got through and was on the air with Eric. Ha...I thought that was you... Although you were a little too agree-ey, but it was probably the only way they would let you on.

Very sorry aboz

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) You're right. As for this one.. it looks like a huge drill bit. A huge drill bit that would be better off dug into the ground than built in the middle of our beautiful city I may eat my words but I'm near certain this idea will never get approval.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Nice hit Ass licker Ex-cuseeeee Me? :finger

Houston has been red hot lately...how are they out of the race?? This thread is a great example as to why I love trade threads :headshake

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) for the record can we please stop calling rowand ARow. those are the worst nicknames, the ones with the first letter of first name first three of last, and its not like anyone actually uses it outside message boards. the only time it shoudl be used is in the case of arod, cuz he was the first to use it. i mean why dont we call AJ apie For the record, thanks for your post, but I'm gonna use whatever nickname I darn well please.... TIA

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) I've been on here for 2.5 years, and I have been one of the biggest Rowand backers on the site. But, I've also been a Sox fan since the early 60's and have never seen the Sox in the World Series. Would I trade Rowand for Griffey? In a half heartbeat I would. I love Aaron Rowand and the way he plays the game. But Griffey is exactly what this team needs. This team ... This year. That's all I'm focused on. Exactly...Great post!!! Imagining this team with Griffey in CF and Billy Wagner in the closer role is a dream that I never thought would come to pass!!! I'm also a huge ARow supporter and I do doubt that he would be involved in a trade. But if you could add Griffey to the middle of the lineup this season?!?!? Who cares about the next few years, the time is now.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) If you plan on doing the Patio Party and spending the remainder of the game in the Bullpen Sports Bar, just buy the cheapest upper deck ticket. How's that for a news flash? Yup just pile it on....everyone get in line and call me a moron. I was just inquiring anyway. I don't think i'm going to fret over $13 dollars. I'm way too foolish to understand the value of money.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Could you hypothetically roll from the patio party to the bullpen sports bar and hang out there without ever actually having a game ticket?? No, you have to have a game ticket to get into the park. IDIOT!!!!!! :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) No.. you can stay there until the 3rd inning. Could you hypothetically roll from the patio party to the bullpen sports bar and hang out there without ever actually having a game ticket??

My only interest in this thread is: How many different ways can we spell sleeveless?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 07:34 AM) Actually I did. I am tired of people thinking they can say what ever they want because they are in some super secret message board. And I really don't need a lecture on how to post, I think I can handle it. If he doesn't want to take BS, he probably shouldn't be dishing it out in the first place. Things that popped into my head which I could compare to giving a lecture to SS2K on message board posting: 1. Lecturing a spider on constructing a spiderweb. 2. Teaching the earth to orbit the sun. 3. Instructing a 2 month old baby on how to cry 4. Enlightening Sox fans on the fine points of being a whiny, never happy and extremely paranoid fandom.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Well, I, for one, would know who you were. Maybe. Count me in, gang. Tailgating encouraged. Ha...you probably remember what my car looks like more than what I did

I'm in...for sure. I'll be the "who the hell is this guy" out of the group.

Thomas, Buehrle give Maggs warm reception

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) You make a good point and IMO you're not being a b****. Wherever Maggs plays there will be 30,000 people cheering him and paying his salary, so why would that make Chicago so frickin' special to him? I agree...and as I tried to point out, I really don't buy into the loyalty thing either. As SS2K points out above my issue with Maggs was with his honesty and professionalism. I was just trying to stir the pot a little bit..that is all. -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) I enjoy where I work and I work with some of my best friends, but if a competitor called and offered me a better deal, I'd be gone by lunch time. Pro sports is a JOB, like it or not, loyalty rarely exists, from either players or owners. Why the Eff would players be loyal to a team they probably didn't follow as a kid, or a city that they are probably not even from. Hell, Maggs is not even from this frickin country. How much of a sentimental connection do you think he has to the Sox? I agree with your post for the most part, with the exception of how Maggs left, which I thought was really s***ty. BUT, I am going to play devil's advocate just for the sake of being a b****. I don't know where you work, but I would imagine you don't have 30,000 fans at your job every day cheering for you and paying for your paycheck with their own money. I would also leave if offered a larger amount of money, but Maggs turned down a similar offer. Got injured, concealed the injury, signed a new agent, and pretty much turned his back on us. I don't really care...as I don't think any huge deal to any position player benefits a mid-salary team like the Sox...plus Maggs arm looks about half as strong as it used to be which I thought was really weird... Discuss............ -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) Look no further than a Blackhawks game for that etiquette. LOL...that was like two years ago!! You think I remember that far back? Yeah I never got up during a hockey game....it is very nice.
