Schilling is on my short list of people I love to hate. How can one man find it so necessary to sound off on so many subjects? When did he become the moral hand of justice? I can't wait for his bloody sock to provide the next quote on steroids in baseball.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't his wife cheat on him? I'm pretty sure you're wrong... I think his wife stuck with him during his illness, he recovered won a few tours and then he went out and cheated on her with Sheryl Crow.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Finance classes blow....thats all I got to say (and I'm taking 4 of them). I need an interprator for two of my classes too. Haha...ask me if I miss classes like "Financial Statement Analysis" and "Financial Institutions & Banking"...have fun with that garbage The worst thing about them is you pretty much learn nothing...sad but very very true

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Were you around the group at the tailgate? Yeah I rolled up about 15 minutes before the game started. I would've gotten there sooner except Steff had me making circles around the park, visiting every group of port-o-potties along the way. :banghead

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) You guys think you're brave don't ya? Bringing up a JB promotion on the message board. I said it in person to 3 esteemed members of Soxtalk on Saturday. I didn't even know you were in attendance on Saturday. Although I do know exactly who you were after hearing that you were there....hmmm

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Butters has a point. At least Borchard can him some long-balls. Seeing as our belov'ed Sox have abondoned smart-ball or small-ball or Ozzie-ball, or whatever you'd like to call it, I think another HR threat would serve this team very well. If we choose to live and die with the long-ball once again, there is no better option within the organization than Mighty Joe. We have fallen that far? Sure bring him up...I'm pretty sure I made a post about two months ago right before the resurgance of the powerful Borchard, implying that he has turned it around. Not that I want credit or anything... I still want to bring up Greg Norton

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) Iguchi's OPS is about .200 pts higher than Timo...yet we ph in the 9th for Iguchi? That was the one instance of the game that I truly did not understand...what in the world was Ozzie doing with that move? I want someone to explain to me besides some LH/RH horses*** as to why you would rather want Timo up in that situation

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) Anyone going to Coldplay at Alpine Valley this weekend? I think I'm making the trip with my buddies. Its probably the best concert venue I'll ever go to in my life. I saw Dave Matthews Band there a few weeks ago and was blown away by the whole place. The acoustics there are stunning and the view from the lawn is incredible. The X and Y tour is gonna kick ass. Remind me to upload pics from the concert that I snapped from my cell phone. I figured as you're a rather LARGE Coldplay fan you might enjoy them.

If players reamined on their original teams...

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) And I told you the Sox would do it on Sunday....once you had distanced yourself from the cell Its tough though cause the Sox have had guys in their system, I think it be interesting to base this lineup both on guys they drafted and guys they have developed. Ha...yea I intentionally stayed away as I didnt want you to go 0-fer on your trip. Four homeruns in one inning...we both know that wouldve never happened w/ me in attendance. True...alot of our bullpen has come from guys that have been released or traded to us who we turned into solid relievers. The Sox do deserve some credit for turning these guys around. Marte was an outcast who we turned into a stud reliever. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) Gary Majewski could fit into the bullpen. Definitely...he has been solid for the Nats. It was tough coming up with a bullpen out of former sox draft picks...pretty sad really -

Does anyone have the link to an article written about this exact topic for all the teams in the league?? I read it off of Yahoo.com and now I can't find it... :banghead As for your list... C - Josh Paul CF - Rowand 3B - Crede Pretty sure thats as good as your gonna get for those positions -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) It's just following tradition for the White Sox to choke And how are we goliath when they were picked to win the division and go to the world series. We were expected to fight it out for 3rd or 4th this year. Were not the Twins picked by some to make it to the World Series? That asks the question who choked first? You would figure he would wait until his team was within five games before writing an inflamatory article like that one. I wonder if he was hired out by the Twins advertising staff to give the fans a reason to go to the games this week.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) Steve... just because a player is put on waivers doesn't mean anything as far as them being claimed. The owning team can pull them back at any second, and does most of the time. Also, the claiming team pays a claiming fee to even put in a claim.. pretty damn stupid to pay a claim fee if you know the owning team will just pull the player back dontcha think..? It's all about interest. The were on waivers, along with just about all the rest of the team. Is there an echo in here?

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) That's BS...Podsednik does not make too much money, and was an AS. Garland still has a year of arbitration left, and isn't too expensive for someone who's had his season, and if it don't work out, ya could go the route of AJ with the Giants last year. Garcia I could see getting picked up too. That is a total BS rumor. Especially with NYY needing a CF, Pods would work well there. The whole theory of what 'waivers' actually are, is still eluding the masses on this website... Almost everyone gets put on waivers. They are tossed on there just to measure the amount of interest other teams have in your players, etc. There is no intention to trade the aforementioned players, nor is there anyway that these teams will allow them to be picked up by other clubs.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Some other interesting notes from yesterday's game. -Only one other time in Randy Johnson's career has he given up 4 homers in a game (6-20-99 vs ATL). -It was the 7th time in Sox history they have hit 3 straight homers. -3rd time of hitting 4 homers in one inning in White Sox history. -3rd time in Yankees history they have allowed 4 homers in one inning. -2nd time in Yankees history a pitcher has allowed 3 straight homers. Can I add one: - First time in Randy Johnson's career that he has given up six consecutive base hits.

Rotoworld predicts sox to sign Jarrod Washburn
Chisoxrd5 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
no thanks...I would rather spend the first seven million of that contract on World Series rings. Why Washburn? too early to talk about offseason moves...my head hurts -
QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) How many times have you moved in your life? What was the most difficult move? What was the highest number of times that you've moved in one year? I've moved 25 times, all since 1995. The most difficult move was when my landlord told me that my lease expired two days before it did and I had to move in three hours. I once moved five times in one year. Twenty-five times??? I can't even imagine moving that much. Man...so like everytime you call one of your friends they must dread answering the phone as they assume you are asking them to help you move..again! Counting in and out of college dorms/apartments I've moved 10 times. But that doesn't even really count so only 4.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) Paul O'Neil is a player that the current yankees should look at as why they were winning titles. I will agree with that...the new go out and buy a title yankee teams cannot and do not compare with the teams of the 90's that had a championship swagger about them from game one of the season.
-
QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) My favorite Yankee, along with el Duque and Brosius, from those late 90's teams. I always thought Paul O'Neill was too whiny and cussy... But I never liked the Yankees as I have woefully fallen into the "hate them because they win too much" category. :banghead But if I were to pick my favorite Yankee while I walked the Earth, it would certainly be.............................................................................................Luis Sojo

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) Ephedra in a weight loss pill, a la Stacker 2 or Hydroxcut worked wonders when I took it years ago. The ban of ephedra ruined that stuff and made it worthless. Just not the same. I read a few months ago that the ban on ephedra was lifted, but is very controlled now. Not over the counter. Increases heart rate It definitely works but it does put a lot of stress on the heart, and it was suspected that it led to the death of Korey Stringer. I think it's only used by perscription for people with a drastic need to lose weight in a controlled situation.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Is ephedra performance enhancing...? I know it makes you jittery and "fast".. but enhancing like steroids.. ? thats a debateable argument. It's not gonna help your 'performance' persay, but it will assist you in maximizing your talent, 'psyching yourself up'. I think its more valuable in a football or hockey game than for baseball.
