I have been known to rock the occasional backwards hat... I guess I exemplify the terms "geek" and "junior-high look" when I wander around like the jackass that I am. Hmm...I would like to go the game tonight but it's probably best that I have review class

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) I will be in chat tonight. I cant stomach going down there again to deal with the f***ing injun fans in the upper deck again. I gave my ticket away as I figured now is not the time to try to break losing streaks of epic proportions. I'll be in the chat tonight...I'm sure you're all excited :rolly

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) Pounded, we had 1 ER off of him. Here is all I have to say about last night. Politte 8th Jenks 9th Ballgame wheather we win or lose there is no real debate. s***ting on and pointing out the obvious are very different. I feel we still have a shot at the playoffs but this is very, very sad to think it is 50/50 right now. It could be worse, you could be a Red Sox fan. The weather last night was beautiful despite the fact that we lost the game! As for the poooor Red Sox fans, I'll take the world series over anything we have had happen for us in the last 75 years.

QUOTE(DMoneyIsMine @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) They ain't the Brewers or the Cubs. Since becoming a franchise, 70% of all the White Sox' seasons have been winning ones, so when you say they have a poor history as a team, you're a moron. They are a perennial good and competitive team. And you should all be proud that the Sox are always good and always enjoyable to follow. Three cheers for mediocrity!! Hip, hip, hooray!! Hip, hip hooray!! Hip, hip hooray!! Give me a break...I'm 23 and I'm gonna have an ulcer from following the sox for the past ten years. Theres a reason why the sox are always an average team. Reinsdorf has consistently put a mediocre product on the field that shows some resemblence of a contender. Solid yet unspectacular teams put fans in the seats for six months and fall into oblivion year after year somewhere between August 15 and October 15. Well before the World Series ever begins. This team has never decided to rebuild from the ground level. Part of it is simple economics. Upper Management fears that if they put a terrible team (i.e. the 2003, 2004 Indians teams) on the field the fans won't ever come back once the team is rebuilt. To be honest, I partially agree with them. They skate on thin ice in this town year in and year out...Playing second fiddle to the Cubs is not an easy proposition. Check my post history, I'm not a consistent whiner on this board. I just call it like I see it.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) They never have jenks elevate the ball. On two strikes how hard is it to catch up to above belt heat. If Jenks, AJP and anyone who is calling pitches can't figure out a high fastball when you throw 100 mph is an effective pitch doesn't deserve to be on the field. You can throw 85 mph and get fastballs by people upstairs. As for pitching inside, with two outs and two on you don't go inside to a dead pull hitter who is obviously looking in there. That fastball got too much of the plate plain and simple. Instead of blaming Jenks, what about Marte who walked yet another lefty? Or Ozzie who left him in to face another batter after the Hafner walk? The list can go on and on. JUST WIN TONIGHT!!!!!! As long as we take one game in this series all is not lost....

QUOTE(Bias @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) I don't think Boone would've turned on Jenk's heat had he busted him inside instead of trying to stay away. It is so damn frustrating to watch them pitch like they are afraid. How many times does Marte have to suck ass before Ozzie stops using him in critical situations?? At least they played more like the first 1/2 team than the bums they played like recently. I thought they showed some sack coming back to tie it and take the lead. Even though they lost, I feel better about their chances than I have recently. They finally looked like they actually cared. Hopefully, they'll take the next 2 and then get hot to end the season........... Jenks never got a fastball up to Boone. Boone has been a dead pull hitter all season and I'll bet the book on him is to stay away, away away. The difference between Jenks striking out Boone and giving up that hit was six inches. Had that ball been elevated in the strike zone he would've grabbed some bench.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) It's amazing that 149 games into the season, Ozzie still has no feel for which pitchers should be in to face which batters. Cotts has some of the best numbers I've ever seen from a lefty in regards to facing righties. All you have to watch is how batters from BOTH sides of the plate react to Cotts fastball to see how effective he can be against hitters. The ball gets on them so quick and they take some of the worst swings against a fastball that I have ever seen. The few times Cotts has looked shaky is when he comes in with runners on. This shouldn't be suprising to coaches or fans because he still a younger pitcher who has battled with some control problems over the past few years. Nothing about Cotts screams out 'situational lefty' but for some reason that is the role he has been given on this team. He has been set up to fail the entire second half and still his numbers have been outstanding.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) My avy and sig are all the Sox need Jas....you have officially lost all sense of reality now haven't you? And I'm sure you would like to hear that I was at that game last night. Bringing my losing streak to 10 games. I just got off the phone with my friend...I am no longer attending the game tonight, my ticket is gone.

Note to self: I should've applied to Illinois, I would've had no problem getting in...that is all.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) This is a taylor made Freddy Garcia game. For whatever reason he has trouble getting focused early against patsy teams, but comes in locked and loaded for big games. I think we will see a vintage Freddy Garcia preformance. Is vintage Freddy Garcia the good one or the 'meh' one?
-
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) f*** Bob Howry. What the hell did he do for the Sox when he was pitching for us, except give up a fat meatballs? BTW, wouldn't it be great if we sealed up the division this weekend right in front of the Twins? Howry had a few pretty solid seasons for us, before he suffered from some arm injuries. How soon you forget? His comment unfortunately isn't too far from the truth. But I'm not gonna get going down that road again... You're implying that we go on an 8 game win streak then? Because winning every game this week is pretty much the only way we could theoretically clinch by this Sunday. So as nice as it would be, its very unlikely any clinching will be going on while we play the Twins.

Who's not going to the Indians series

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) My prediction: Monday - 32000 Tuesday - 24000 Wednesday - 27000 I also want guys like Freddie and Burehle to shut the F up about attendance. Last I checked, those guys were getting rocked in the second half, causing this series to even be important. Your job is to pitch, not comment on the psyches of Sox fans. There will be more than 32,000 there tonight as long as it doesnt rain... Tuesday will be 28,987 people and Wednesday is looking to be closer to 35,000. The fans will be there this series. Now we just need the White Sox to show up. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) TO THE CHAMPS!!! :finger for them beating my friends team!!!! Ok...I'm over it Contgrats Intimidators!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) I took the quote a different way. I am sure he wants the ball in game one, but for the ace of the staff to put his ego aside to put the best pitcher(hotest in the 2nd half) on the mound in game one is pretty amazing. Well I guess you could be right...call me negative nancy Buerhle has had me befuddled by most of his comments in the past few weeks so I just take everything he says the wrong way. Either way, I pretty much echo his sentiments.
-
I'll be there tonight and tomorrow...(nevermind the fact that the Sox have lost nine straight games with me in attendance ) I have a good feeling about tonight Freddy will be fine as long as he can keep the Indians in the park. Hafner kills the ball off of Freddy Garcia. Our offense has seen Millwood a few times and hopefully will suprise us all with 3 runs in the first inning....
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) Mark Buerhle said after that game that he doesnt care what anyone says, the count should start game one in the playoffs. That comment pretty much describes my opinion of if Mark should start game one of the playoffs...he obviously doesn't want the ball, so by all means give it to the count.
