QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) That station cant hold a format. It has changed so many times i cant even remember all of them. I even remember way back when it was Z95. It takes an awful lot of effort and reciprocated effort from advertisers too keep a station on the same format. Especially a station like the Zone trying to cut in on Q101's market. If you are going up against a monster like that, you better bring the big guns. The Zone started strong, but never maintained their alternative mantra, slipped into 80's rock and mainstream rock(crap), and now it seems as if they just gave up. Too bad really, competition gives you better quality. Agreed...it got too Guns and Rosesey for me...The Zone never really had an identity. At first they were Q101 the 2nd, then they went hard rock, then they went 80's-90's rock and now they gone...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Contreras, Marte, McCarthy, and a lower level minor league hitter was the price for Burnett... Can you imagine what this team would look like now? Actually yes I can imagine it....hmmmmmmm Oh wait, that was a hypothetical question? It would be pretty bad...but the one constant in both examples is our inability to score runs and get runners in from third base with less than two outs. I'm glad I didn't see that game yesterday, because it sure seemed like a classic White Sox loss.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) Thanks for the info guys. I am not looking for anything expensive, but I don't want to get ripped off at the sametime. Basically I want to try to find something cool to get signed and added to my collection. Then definitely go with the Bowman Chrome cards...They sign very well. Do you know the eraser trick? and u have to go blue sharpie looks much better than black...

QUOTE(valponick @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) I do agree with that the baseball card companies flooded the market with too many different types of cards, making it impossible/too expensive to try to "collect". I disagree with what you said about them not being worth anything anymore, my old man collects as a hobby and does fairly well selling. Does he deal in new stuff or primarily older cards (pre 1985)? I used to be pretty heavy into it and luckily got rid of most of my graded and valuable stuff before it lost 50-75% of its value. It hit a lot of collectors hard because they had soo much money invested into it and their collection sharply decreased in value. Notice the lack of baseball card shops now. I just don't see why people grade the newer cards. Condition became such an important part of the hobby everyone sleeves their good cards right out of the pack. I used to love collecting and in a few years hopefully will get back into it...
-
QUOTE(valponick @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) While is is true that having your cards graded no longer holds the same value as it did 5-6 years ago your cards aren't worth much of anything if they AREN'T graded. So the moral of the story is baseball cards, for the most part, aren't worth much of anything, regardless of if they are graded or not... Baseball card companies did this too themselves, creating too many brands, inserts and garbage where no one could keep up.

QUOTE(valponick @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-Bowman-Brandon-Mc...1QQcmdZViewItem , this is a good buy. F.Y.I. - Graded cards peaked in the market about 5-6 years ago and are pretty much in the decline. Unless BMac was a rookie in 1980 or before I would steer clear of anything professionally graded.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) Its just like anything on here... The negative people find an excuse to discount Buehrle's prefomance, and the positive ones grasp to anything. ^5 A more profound statement could not be made...

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Just wait until ND plays with Weis's recruits. Ill is not going to be a football hot bed. IOWA out recruits IL in its home state and its largest city. I dont see Zook making a run at the big ten title any time soon. I think they can become competitive again 7-4, 8-3...they are and never will be a premier football power. But it is inexcusible to be this bad when you have the city of Chicago in your backyard.

NBDL affiliations announced
Chisoxrd5 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This is a great idea and long past due...The NBA had to implement a 'minor-league' system. The current set up was dumb, and for the most part left unused by the NBA teams. It was also a shame watching first and second round draft picks rot on NBA benches. -
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) Westchester County, N.Y., Judge Rory Bellantoni said he would sentence her to 10 years probation that would include her time served in jail. Uh, what? Put that woman in jail for a veeeeeeeeery long time! If the probation includes being unable to see her daughter for the next 10 years then it will feel like a VERY long time to her....which is the least they should do this mentally unstable woman.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) Did Illinois fans really have expectations for the team this season? They're are a lot of irrational Illini fans, so of course they did... This year means pretty much nothing. Zook has almost none of his own players...he is left with a lot of slow, talentless, Turner recruits. Give him time to get his guys in there...and then you can judge Zook and his lack of defense. Notice how Notre Dame is now winning with Willingham's recruits...he was never given a chance with his own players, which I think is a bunch of baloney.

Anyone going on the Road this week w/ the Sox?
Chisoxrd5 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the games are mas importante on saturday and sunday I will be out there...I changed my mind a few days ago that I need to be out there if they are deciding games. Auxiliary plans are in the works to make the trek on saturday morning if the trip has to be made....I surely hope I don't have to... I'm a fool so if the games are sold out or not I will acquire tickets -
told u the streak would end on Saturday!!! happy b'day
-
10-14 (I think) with a nice 10 game losing streak mixed in there, that was just broken saturday night. Which means I can now attend a playoff game without being yelled at by hundreds upon hundreds of people.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) Um Tillman just got beat by their f***ing 3rd guy GOOD JOB PEANUT! As good as we looked last week, we look equally bad this week. The defense has played hard and has done well with the exception of Peanut who has been absolutely terrible today. Special teams has been a debacle with penalties, bad kicks and no solid returns. And our offense...hehe, Orton looks like Jonathan Quinn medicine woman. at least it will be easy to define the goats of the game: Orton, Peanut, Gage, Brien...the list is becoming long...
-
Addy, how did I know your post would be something along those lines? Doug Brien, your plane is boarding. Can we do anything right? Or does every team in this city have to be pure torture to watch? It doesn't seem to matter what sport I'm watching, but points, runs, and goals always seem almost impossible for any Chicago team to accrue.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) Orton throws his 4th pick of the first half. Well it was almost as good as a punt Oh boy...this is about what I expected from a rookie QB before I started drinking the orange and blue kool-aid a few weeks back.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Bad all year? Moss had practically nothing against him the 1st game... his 1 big play was on Azumah. Than vs Detroit he got beat by Roy Williams but if Chris Harris was in position that would of been stopped too. And after that he was fine. I agree on Gage being s***ty though. 2 catches all season and now this he has had to lose his starting job. Apologist Are you peanut's brother? Hes been pretty piss poor...most plays hes been covering the player's shadow better than than being the wideouts shadow. I really hope hes not a player only remembered for one great play...cause thats the category I have him in right now.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) That loud noise is the Kyle Orton bandwagon coming to a screeching halt. Its a damn shame he's a rookie. You look at this WR group and you can see why it would be hard to be successful though. That first pass of the game set the tone for him today...the other two interceptions was a terrible misread and a woefully underthrown ball to Bradley, who had his man beat.
-
To best summarize this game thus far: Tillman and Gage = PWN3D :headshake
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Tillman is a piece of s*** this year Typical...hes been hearing how good he is for the past two years and had done nothing since his rookie year. Hopefullly they keep trying to run the ball
-
Gage follows up the bobble with a special teams penalty... GET HIM OFF THE f***ING FIELD!
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) f***. YOU. GAGE. YOU ARE WORTHLESS Yes, Yes he is...Sit his ass down. 7-0 Bengals on the first play after the turnover...Chad Johnson Touchdown
-
How many more times does Justin Gage have to bobble a ball until we figure out he is a bad wide reciever? Not that it cost us at all... :banghead
