QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) Sadly.. the practice of waiting is gone. When I go I wait till between batters - more often between innings. And if I get back during an at bat I wait at the top of the stairs. Always a steady stream of traffic up and down them though.. :headshake A few stadiums (namely Petco and the BOB) now have their ushers stop you until a lull in the action. Meeting at the mound, pitching change, between innings. I think that is a great policy and should be considered at the Sox games as I cannot stand the people who get up and down 5,000 times a game during the inning.

Thomas, Buehrle give Maggs warm reception

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) Paul can say "I am hitting better" and people will label him as a concieted asshole....... Actually I would just call him a blatant liar I don't see why this thread has to be so dramatic. Were all allowed to have our opinions, can't it just be left at that? -

Hate the wave...that is all :sleep And yes Steff those kids yesterday....oy vey....Me and my 15, yes 15 year old brother were up in arms over that entire scout seat crowd yesterday. At one point there were four people in view on their cell phones waving. :headshake

Crede not the only one with back issues

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:52 AM) Get. Billy. Wagner. Now. If we were to get Billy Wagner we would no doubt have the best group of 'arms' in the history of White Sox baseball. -
Great post Qwerty...that is quite a list Vast majority of those guys were probably emergency catchers....and how many of those guys were actually from the modern era?

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) Anyone else think this is kinda a weird thread..? I'm yet to find a thread in the past few weeks that I don't find creepy. But then again I find the entire trade board weird.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) ...and another American League team is also 38-22. Guess who. Indians, no wait, Tigers Damn Yankees :sleep

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Beliard also complained that "Chicago played good, they pitched good, but sometimes they hit the ball on the end of the bat and it fell in." Yeah, that's sort of the idea, Ronnie. Hey Mini Manny...how many HR's did your team hit against us this weekend? Zero...Shut the hell up. Amazing those balls fell in considering you play in short right field, says something about your amazing range.

QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) Ah, that would explain why there's no right handed pitchers since their back is to the runner on first and their pickoff throw is obstructed. Thanks for the help. Wow, I didn't know someone could lay on apparent sarcasm as thick as their own skull. :headshake I give you the correct, blatantly obvious, and widely known answer to the question and you give me this horses*** back? Unlike another poster who says it's little league, basic knowledge I simply answered your question. I didn't ridicule you... The fact you can't accept the correct answer is your own problem. There is no coach bias, lack of lefty catcher mitts or any other conspiracy involved. It is what is...
-
QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) And why is it that a lefty can't catch? Simple: Large majority of hitters are right handed. A left-handed catchers throw would be obstructed more often by the batter than would a normal right-handed catchers would. Glad I could help....

The Indians and Tigers provide a lot of laughable quotes. I for one have nothing but love for all the teams in the AL Central *cough 30-5 record cough*. I'm still waiting for that Indians, Tigers battling it out for the central thing to come to pass...

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Geez. People are touchy today. :headshake Present company included? Sorry, I definitely laughed at this post

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:03 AM) You are in quite the mood this morning Mr. Yas. :rolly It's exciting. Anytime there are lingering roster moves, I get excited. Please. It's human. Darn this video game generation who thinks trades are the be all/end all of the season!!

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Gload is getting healthy, it sounds like and hopefully will join the team soon. My question: can he play 3B to spell Crede sometimes? .

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) Meh, this is one of those issues that isn't even worth it. People can take what they want to take from the Maggs era. I am taking 61-29 from it. And I am laughing at all of the lies and deceit that we got dealt for making Ordonez a really rich man, and even after being willing to give him a huge contract dispite his knee problem we are still the "enemy", that's fine. 5-7 years of being a Tiger just goes to show that you reap what you sow. This is one topic where I have and always will agree 100% with you. The day he fired his agent and signed with Boras was when it was written in stone for me as to who was at fault for that whole saga. I feel like I'm in the cliches post, but what goes around comes around.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) Here's my plan: I'm gonna show up just boo and bash the best player we had on the team the past few years because he decided he didn't want to stay here any more. He also, gasp, took a better offer from another team, while he was hurt in order to secure his family's future. Then tomorrow when the media is calling all Sox fans, bitter and stupid etc. for booing him instead of enjoying this season, I'll whine about how the media picks on us. Funny you just summed up the next four days at soxtalk perfectly... :banghead

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) He tells what he believes is the truth, and he supports his friends. Obviously his "leadership" hasn't been that bad this season because everyone has said great things about Paul, and NO ONE has come out and said anything bad about what Paul is saying. If someone wanted to say something, you can bet the reporter would find that person. As it is, nobody in the clubhouse cares. Juan probably doesn't even know that Paul said Royce is the best SS (he meant defensively) hes played with. Why? HE DOESN"T CARE. None of them do. I'm sure Paulie and Maggs hung out all the time :rolly Of course no one has said anything bad about Paul, they have other things to worry about, and use more than 1/8 of their brain when asked a question. My question is why does he continue to take the alternative and often dumb route when it comes to these type of questions? I've been extremely disappointed with his antics with the media and at the plate this season.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) How is our success rate when compared to other teams? How many teams have a ton of their players who are drafted, developed, and play with their respective teams at the major league level? Well I'm not gonna put a spreadsheet together showing comparisons of which teams rebuild from the farm better than others but there are a few that stick out. The Braves, Dodgers, Expos/Nats, and A's come to mind. Sure most extremely competitive teams year in and year out do not use their farm system to win at the major league level. I have no way to prove this but it does seem like we bring up an inordinate amount of major league busts. Granted, my view is through clouded glasses as I watch the Sox alot more than other major league teams.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Mark Buehrle. Don't play this game with me. Mark B., Arow, Frank and Joe Crede are the only four players drafted by us that are on the major league roster right now. My point was our success rate of call ups has been much worse than our free agent and trade acquisitions. I don't need a White Sox history lesson on who came up in our system. Simply put, I'm at the point now where if we can pull a trade for a proven major leaguer for someone on the farm, we do it...that is all.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) Yeah, it sounds overpriced, but how many other US Cellular Fields are there? When you put it that way.......It sounds even more ridiculously overpriced. :banghead -
QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) El Duque saying he is strong and actually being strong are two different things. At this point, the Sox will probably just get a stopgap pitcher to fill in if El Duque isn't healthy. I really doubt that they will mortgage the farm this season like they did when they got Garcia. You know I really don't feel like we mortgaged the farm to get Garcia, especially considered how mediocre those three actually may end up being. But it comes down to this. I wouldn't mind 'mortgaging' the farm this year because in reality what has our farm system legitimately produced in the past few seasons. I do follow the minor league system and do enjoy watching players come up. But too many times we talk up guys and they end up being bad, or horribly mediocre. So if a good deal comes up, trade the farm. This is the year, lets get it done.
