QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) So let me provide some context for you. I blame this on ozzie, yesterday and today. If though, the players said they want a rest, than I say to them suck it up. I don't care if Neal's penis is falling off due to all the babes he had last night. I hope this provides better context. I hope that straightens everythign out for you. I BLAME OZZIE unless the primadonnas forced him into this situation. I Really hope neither of them would request the day off. When Ozzie comes out and says Neal was unavailable it was more saying "he has pitched the last two days, and he had to give SOME damn reason to bring that slapstick lefty Walker in the game"... The little I know of Paulie I cant imagine him ever saying he wants to sit out but once again I have no idea. It was Ozzies fault he played Timo and it was also on him to put Walker in the game. I thought for SURE that Viz was gonna come in that inning. He has been bad, but knowin the bullpen situation he was the best logical option at the time. The loss was on Ozzie and his apparent opinion that sweeping series is not important. This is the third or fourth series where he has crippled the team in the final game of the series by putting players out of position and making suspect moves. I dont really want to get involved in your guys little spat but I havent posted my opinion on this debacle of a managerial performance so i figured I better get my words in.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) Not to interupt Jim and Quicks fest, but any thoughts on this? how similar are first and third, and could Crede have been a better option? Fine, I'll answer your question... Crede, like any third baseman could easily make a transition to first base. The angle is similar and he would have been fine (as long as he didnt have to tag anyone out, we all know how horrible he is at that). That being the case, he still probably isnt the best option. Simply because he is our best defensive third baseman. By putting Crede at first your most likely putting Ozuna in at 3rd. Two players playing out of position in the infield could theoretically be worse than just one. Ozuna, has to make a longer throw from 3rd base and Crede has to catch the throw from Ozuna. So two wrongs in this case do not make a right... The obvious choice at least for me was Widger. I know he didnt do that because he doesnt want both his catchers on the field at once but if AJ was to get hurt you simply move Widge over to 1B. You need quick hands and an ability to judge low throws at 1b. Any infielder can play first but usually only bigger guys play first so the infielders have a bigger target to throw to. IMO, Timo Perez was probably the 5th best option on this team to play first base.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Gio had several very successful starts in Kannapolis last year. Combined with instructional league and his start to this season, what possible reason do you have not to move him up? Personally, I think they wait until the draft is over and they sign a few college-type players who will be starting at Kanny before they move Gio and probably Liotta up to W-S and possibly a couple of the guys from W-S to BHam. The draft (about 1-2 weeks after, usually) is when a lot of guys start getting readjusted. Yea I agree...most likely he will be bumped up after the draft. Roster spots will have to be opened on the Kannapolis roster for some of the college talent drafted... I just find it funny that everytime a guy has a good start the promotion talk begins. Gio is on a fast track, but he is out of high school. Usually its a 3 year minimum for H.S. pitchers in the minor leagues. So I guess I was out of line...but it really wasnt directed at the Gio comment's as much as just the promotion talk as a whole.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) Let me clarify.. I think Ron is full of s***. Any support on this claim? Or just your spidey sense? I have no reason to prove or disprove this quote...

I was shocked when I heard this..but that quote is at least a month or two old I know it has been posted on here before... Bonds is a classless POS...

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) Gio is sick. It is indeed time for him to move up. LOL...I'm glad this message board doesnt make the roster moves for our farm system...were moving guys up so fast it makes my head spin. But it definitely looked like a flat out dominant start for Gio!! I really hope he stays down there till the end of July when Im goin to three Kanny games...I wanted to get to see him!!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:06 AM) Seriously? I think Rowands forward diving catch in short centerfield was the best dive for the Sox this year. Honestly I though Dye misjudged the ball at first , and had to dive to make the play. He was full out on that play from what I saw, and yes I had a good view...It was a sensational play as I had all ready yelped "thats gonna fall in" whine, whine, whine...and then he caught it...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Not to mention dancing on the dugouts. They didnt do any of that tonight...I was kinda lookin forward to that part

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) We need some big time bullpen help, and fast. Thats perhaps the largest overstatement I have ever read...what exactly is soo much worse about our bullpen than any other team in the league?

QUOTE(nvxplorer @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) I'm a long distance Sox fan, so pardon my ignorance. What is the Pride Squad? Pride Squad- group of people who run around the field throwing tshirts to the crowd between innings...thats about all they do...
-
QUOTE(bulokis @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Wish list........... SP - I want Oliver Perez on a Sox uni. Oliver Perez = too walky Hes got a boatload of talent but it would be too darn frustrating to watch him pitch. Some of the people on this board would be punching holes in walls watching him...
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Am I the only one who despises the Pride Squad. I hate the fact that they exsist. I can honestly say that I don't quite understand the point of their existance either, but I far from despise them...You know Brooks couldnt leave all the tshirt shooters at the United Center he had to take a couple with him to the Cell
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) It was cold as f***ing hell at the Cell tonight. I don't blame anyone for not going to the game. I froze my balls off for nine innings so that's gotta be worth something. IT WAS COLD?????????? What the heck are you talkin about?? I had a hoody on and I was completely comfortable!! Plus I had the tshirt squad girls come by and we shared bodywarmth...oh wait that didnt happen... :banghead
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) We already have Raul Mondesi... he is named Jermaine Dye. No thanks. I'm sure Mondesi would have made that diving catch tonight...NOPE No Thanks...I'll take a pass on Raul Mondesi :banghead

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Tell me about it, I had guys next to me calling for Damaso's head, people were yelling at him that he sucks. I can't believe he got booed when leaving the field. Yeah I was kinda suprised myself...guess most fans have short memories (only the last two days) and forgot all of the good outings Damaso has had in the past few years. Wow that was a great game!!!!! The crowd was loud even though the attendance was kinda poor (the UD had a solid amount of people). Jermaine Dye!!!!! Oh yea and I called the Crede Homerun as usual...

White Sox v. Angels Game Thread 5/31/05

Should be a beautiful night... If anyone wants to say Hi..I'll be in 139, row 6 i believe. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 31, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) You know what Jabroni if you haven't learned by now I probably look at stats less then anyone around here to make my decisions on players. I've seen Randa play, I've seen Crede play, Crede's a better defender, period. To be honest I think they are both good defenders...Goin back to Randa's sox killer days I do recall him picking EVERYTHING over at 3rd when they played against us. Crede has a solid glove, he is a above average defensive player (tag plays excluded). Randa would be a moderate upgrade over Crede...but is he worth bringing in for multiple prospects? That I'm not so sure about...

I totally think it can and should be discussed on here...but the problem is like 5 threads pop up, most of which celebrate the injury.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) I doubt she was joking....too many of you are more worried about the shortfalls of the cubs than white sox success...its pretty pathetic. We fall right into the typical sox stereotype
