QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) How is he the last guy in our bullpen. He is up most of the time. And he came into two games over the weekend to stop the bleeding and he cant throw strikes. Its one thing to walk a guy, its another thing to plunk a guy and then throw a pitch almost over the head of a batter. His wildness is almost funny if we werent a good team. This guy coming out of the bullpen in a close game is terrible. Well I guess I have him labeled as the last guy in our pen. I can't for the life of me understand why the only times Ozzie brings him into the game is with runners on in a relatively tight ball game. His ERA still is respectable, and if used correctly I think he can still be an extremely valuable asset to the team. I agree that he has to be taken out of his current role, but I think its ridiculous to make him getting sent down a "priority' to once again be competitive. For my money, Vizcaino has been far and away the most disappointing pitcher for me the last couple of weeks. He is an completely different pitcher than he was last year. He basically has become a 42 year old Mike Jackson who throws exclusively 82 mph sliders...its pretty disgusting

QUOTE(The Critic @ May 16, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) Yep. One thing at a time. Don't put the cart before the horse. (Add your own cliche here). You can get a good look at a T-Bone by sticking your head up the butcher's ass but I'd rather take the bulls word on it...

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) I get so angry every time they lose. Its ridiculous. My girlfriend gets upset because I get so angry and crabby. Don't worry, I don't beat her or anything. I guess I need to start remembering this is just a game and not life or death. How do others cope? Usually I'm upset for a few minutes after the game...I rant and rave, often silently if i'm not by anyone who would care, and then move on with my life. The Sox are VERY IMPORTANT to me, but I guess I have a life beyond sporting events...People have tried to peg the 'your just crabby b/c the sox lost' on me but I honestly dont think I let it affect my overall psyche past the initial reaction. Now come time for the pennant race and playoffs, HAAAAA all this bs is out the window

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) It's hard to support a guy who had a .305 BAA and 5.30 ERA in 2004. That is buster status. Note see Konerko, Paul Years 2003 & 2004 Yea I agree, and overall his career numbers arent that great so I dont need to see them posted up here either, I just have a hunch...ok i'm an idiot

QUOTE(Steff @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) I think their offense staying hot is a better probability than our pitching staying hot. Bedard and Sidney can win 15 I think. I agree Boston and the Yanks will not stay down all year. All a matter of luck. Regardless.. nothing to worry about at this point. Is there an echo in here?

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) So far the Sox are 5-1 when I go to the game...tonight they will make it 6-1. I'm undefeated...and yes I'm in attendance tonight

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Yes, but is their offense going to remain this good. Are there any 15 game winners on that staff? The Yankees have won like 6 straight now also, and you know Boston is going to pick it up when they get Schilling, Wells and Miller back into their rotation. Bedard sure has the looks of a guy who could win 15...he was gettin everything over yesterday (ala Mark B.). Sir Ponson could easily win 15, even though I know he has overwhelming support on this board. And BJ Ryan is pretty solid as their closer. I really think they have some staying power, but if they are to make a deal come the deadline it will be for a SP.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:01 AM) This and sending Cotts down are the priorities to keep this thing going. Some of the posters odd and creepy obsessions really intrigue me... :banghead :headshake :rolly :puke Ok that about sums up my opinion of that I really don't get how Cotts is the 'downfall' of this team or how his promotion or demotion a 'priority'. He's the last guy in our bullpen how is his anything important? I'll never understand...but i digress

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 16, 2005 -> 08:09 AM) I dont know, I just have a feeling Big Frank is on a mission this year......lets hope my premonition is right I'm just happy that were t-minus 3 weeks away from having a career .429 obp guy back in our lineup... How sweet it will be

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ May 14, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) I hope someone follows up on this, but the following appeared in today's Tribune: "Actually, the Sox were both lucky and good as they beat the Orioles 5-3...in a game that included the Sox surviving an umpires' postgame inspection of the height of the pitcher's mound." There was no further mention of this, and it did not appear at all in the Sun-Times, Southtown or Daily Herald. Maybe Farmer or Rooney will mention it tonight. Of course its must be a conspiracy, the Sox pitching can't possibly be that good... All this stuff really makes me

GREATTTT GAME TONIGHT!!!! No rain, weather was nice and the crowd was into it!! Garland looked great out there all game, but that strikeout of Tejada in the 8th was something that I have NEVER seen him accomplish in his entire career. Normally that exact situation is where he throws ball 4 in a location where it impossible to offer at the pitch or he leaves something offspeed right over the middle of the plate and gives up a hit. Tonight Garland pitched great, fielded his position superbly and looked like the 7-0 pitcher that he is from start to finish!!

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 12, 2005 -> 08:07 AM) Possible ideas include; 1 - Make Southpaw the new closer 2 - Let Nancy Faust become our new cleanup hitter. 3 - First kid who hits a ball in the new FUNDAMENTALS becomes our new right fielder. 4 - Let Hawk become our new catcher with his great new eyesight. 5 - Shingo Takatsu to become our new SS from a brand new Asian DP combo. Is that the new feature at the adult movie cinema?

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 12, 2005 -> 07:32 AM) I know they can't start the game if it is raining at game time. But yes, if there is some kind of window, they will play. The weather screws us again. Sounds like someone must just be raining on your parade, b/c IIRC... We havent exactly been plagued with rain delays this year...so we were due. Plus there is always a risk of rain when I'm goin to the game, so it will be fine -

QUOTE(Y2HH @ May 11, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Personally, I'm not any more impressed with the Twins offense than with our own. Marunaueou or however you spell his name isn't that special, hes no Frank Thomas. They are simply not folding under pressure, keeping their cool and doing what it takes to win, we are losing our cool, swinging from the heels, and f***ing up bases loaded no out opportunties GAME AFTER GAME. Hate to break it to you but Morneau is a f***ing stud. Sure hes no young Frank, but hes just as good as Frank currently is now -

QUOTE(mreye @ May 11, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) You wouldn't think that reading along. Fine line between optimism and stupidity I'm happy we have the lead but lets be honest, we should have a larger lead, VERY SIMILAR TO THE LAST TWO GAMES -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 11, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) A.J. rarely has a chance with those guys on the mound. My biggest concern with A.J. is simply catching the ball. He seems to have a hard time catching the ball sometimes, and it's hurt us in a few games. However, this is clearly our best catching tandem in a long, long, long time. I can answer this one for you... Staff ERA 3.10 (approx.)...first in the AL Reason- Lots of late movement, best way to get out major league hitters...Also difficult to catch... Any questions? -

Ok...I'll be positive Jermaine Dye's average is now low enough where an out only brings it down 1 point!!!!!! fine...guess not
