  1. 23, Lemont (kinda); could be moving downtown in a few months Born in Oak Lawn, raised on the South Side my entire life
  2. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 10, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) You do know how much is left on his contract right? Also you have to remember when this guy sneezes he is out for a month. C'mon usually hes at least jogging when he goes down with a career threatening injury...give him some credit!!
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 10, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) I remember mentioning this in a thread before about Bradley being a punt returner this year and some people called me crazy. HMMMMM... Didnt that other WR we picked up from the Titans return kicks last year as well??? Eddie Berlin I believe is his name...supposedly a burner who can stretch the field
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) The thing is, if the Sox win the World Series, or even make it there. I would be willing to bet that their payroll would jump to at least $90 million, if not $100 million, based on a huge attendance jump, and season ticket jump. And with the lack of guys that we need to resign, the money might be there to do it. We are talking $15-25 million extra to sign basically Garland, Thomas and/or Konerko over and above the about $20 million they are making now. All of the rest of the pieces of the puzzle are pretty much signed already. Thanks Coach Wannstedt... I agree with your earlier post in the aspect of IF we need a closer come the end of July, and we remain in the lead for the central or the wildcard, then all bets are off on who gets dealt. Billy Wagner would be a GREAT acquistion but to trade the farm for him is a steep price to pay, and better end with a trip at least to the ALCS. I really hope the end result of a hopefullly positive season like this one is a boost in attendance and especially the season ticket base....
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ May 10, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) I like them.. Jim doesn't. He doesn't like sitting behind the net. I'd sit back there all the time. But it doesn't make a lot of sense to get them when we pay for season seats. I usually get them when we have out of town guests or friends need extras. Yea...I used to be able to get seats in the F&F section...I loved them, but others would prefer avoiding the net. My opinion is you only see the net if you CHOOSE to see the net. STOP FOCUSING ON THE NET!!
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 10, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Who's to say that Anderson isn't better than Dye next year? No way I make that trade, it's a gross overpayment. I know its only been a little over a month but I'm near certain that Brian Anderson could have put up Dye's numbers at this point, and played a better RF then what Dye has done thus far. Dye has to improve or he will be sitting watching Anderson play next year. I wouldnt make that trade either, first round draft choices just can't be moved for a 3 month rental...
  7. QUOTE(mreye @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) Did he actually say "Santa Claus?" That's crazy! In a murder involving kids? :headshake He sounds like a real class act... He also went on to say that "this is not CSI"...when asked what sorts of things are they doing in the investigation. Makes you wonder if this police chief is enjoying this publicit a little TOO MUCH :headshake
  8. Well then, if thats the case Ventura sucked he was boring!! But the "uh ohhhhh" call on fly outs to the warning track are enough to make me want to :banghead
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) They were last minute fillins doing a favor for the Sox. Damn we are a critical bunch. Agreed, and Agreed..but i'm sure it was a relatively well paid 'favor'
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) EXACTLY, it's not so much what Ventura and Pall say, it's how they say it. You'd think they'd get some coaching. Yup, where Ventura was monotone, Pall sounded like a guy sitting in the stands talking baseball with one of his buddies. I guess we really shouldnt expect more from these guys as I dont believe they have any interest in making this a career and have simply decided to fill in for a few days.
  11. I thought he did alright, but has he ever heard of a rising inflection of one's voice? Hes very monotone, and if your not careful you could be put to sleep listening to the smooth sounds of the Robin Ventura behind a microphone.
  12. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ May 9, 2005 -> 03:31 PM)
  13. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) pods has 74 hr's ??? :headshake
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 8, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Voekler? Well at least I thought that was funny...
  15. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ May 8, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) I saw Kingdom of Heaven today with my mom and sister for Mother's Day. It was a pretty enjoyable movie with a very intriguing story. But it also sufferered from being an ordinary movie when comparing it to other epics. I also believed that while appropriate for the story the movie sufferered from a lack of an antagonist, and the movie ended in somewhat of an unresolved, unsatisfying manner. Of course the real story of Jerusalem and Israel lacks resolve, so I guess it's appropriate. 7/10 Kudos to Edward Norton's secret performance! Edward Norton's character was far and away the best character in the movie... Visually the movie was extremely impressive. The city of Jerusalem was very well recreated and the scenery was beautiful. The movie struggled with trying to be more symbolic than the actual story would allow. Orlando Bloom's character was perhaps the most forgettable lead in an epic war movie to date...I will have an easier time remembering Saladin, the King, and even the frenchman than I would Orlando Bloom. I'm kinda hoping the DVD will be better as it will include about an hour of scenes that didn't make the final cut for the theaters.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 9, 2005 -> 07:45 AM) I'm saying no one, maybe Buerhle, it's a popularity contest.........and we ain't popular. Fact is the team with the best ERA in its League always seems to get respect and usually gets 2 pitchers into the all-star game
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 9, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) Pittsburgh could be interested in Joe Borchard here, and I'm not kidding. I completely agree...but i'm not sure we could pull a Borchard - Mesa swap straight up... The market for a proven closer who has seemingly had a second rebirth has to have an asking price higher than that?!?! Or am I wrong???
  18. I would be mildly shocked if we were to get Jose Mesa. Closers always are overpaid for at/around the trading deadline. Teams like the cubs are desperate for a closer and if they are at .500 in a realistic position to be the wildcard their vaunted farm system will single handedly drive up the price. Personally, I think our bullpen in its entirety is as good as anyones in baseball. We do lack in a shutdown 'hes our guy' closer but does any other team have 4 or 5 guys in their pen whole hypothetically could close out a game? Unless we were able to get Mesa for a bag of balls (aka Joe Borchard) I couldnt see this happening. If anything we will add a bat at the deadline..
  19. QUOTE(Nokona @ May 8, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) At least give Skip one floatie. He deserves that over Stepen A Skank. If I had a choice I would save Stephen A. Smith. Bayless is a sports shock-jock who has no real knowledge of any sporting even.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 8, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) How many pitches did Zambrano throw?!?!?!?!?! 136 pitches... But luckily the cubs outstanding announcers told me that even though his pitch count is high, since he cruised so easily and never labored it wasnt like he actually threw that many pitches...I have no f***ing idea what that means
  21. Rosey Brown For your viewing pleasure
