Chisoxrd5 replied to qwerty's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) Qwerty's going to use his new slogan on me with this suggestion; Kyle Korver. Kyle Korver, hes from Iowa, good for him...but lets be honest :puke sums it up best for me -
QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Fan's dig the homerun , no doubt about it. If u you need proof read yesterday game thread. There was plenty of talk about all the home runs but when Az. was hitting nary a word was said about Adkins pitching or his final line for the day ( 5 innings only 1 hit allowed). We would all love having great defense combined with great ofense all rolled up in every player at every position but that just aint gonna happen. Actually all I want out of Crede is solid defense and a .280-.300 average...IMO, .295, 8 HR's, 80RBI's > .240, 28HR's, 80RBI's. We need baserunners, not home runs. As for Adkins, I'm excited about how well he pitched but I think his best fit is in the bullpen. And I think we will see him back up here in that capacity in the near future. Its convenient how he pitched great after he knew his destination was Charlotte. Best of luck to him and we will see him back here soon!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) Jesus, how can you be the #1 team in the country all year long and have the #117th class, even with all of the graduations and NBA jumps that are going to happen after this season? Simple...don't get your three main targets Julian Wright, Luke Zeller and Austin Jackson (PG who went to GaTech, name may be wrong). Then David Palmer, a top 100 recruit in 2003 whose stock and supposedly grades dropped dramatically was told we no longer were offering him a scholarship. Bruce Weber instead of trying to find me first players recruited to the system, bringing in a wing shooter in Jamar Smith. A solid but unspectacular point guard in Frazier, who with his year in prep school is more prepared for the college game then most other recruits and Charles Jackson. Jackson is the best of this group and could end up being a star. Hes not high on recruiting websites b/c most expected him to be a football recruit. The Illini have a good shot at Brandon Rush, brother of Kareem and Jaron. He was originally expected to go to the NBA but hes leaning toward college. Since we still have an open scholarship hes looking at us and Oklahoma. This kid stood out at the Roundball Classic and would step in immediately and start next year. My only concern is if he will buy into Weber's motion offense. I also fully believe that Illinois did not target alot of point guard this offseason simply because of the wealth of pg's in the 2006 class. I'm very optimistic that Weber can recruit and has everything in good order... Now i could be wrong, and often I am...

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) Remember those who thought he was going to be our 5th starter last season? Yup... I'm actually hoping they come back and call for him to be our fifth starter right now But in all honesty, he might have been better than what we brought out there most of last seaon in the fifth spot

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Nice move. Didn't he tear something last year? If I recall the injury wasn't arm related. I know one thing, Person always has had good stuff. I don't know if he'll ever pan out, but you never know, he could be of value later on in the year. Yea...iirc I think hes coming off an achilles tendon injury... But I agree, he could be of value especially with the uncertainty of Contreras and El Duque. He always has been a little wild but he has good stuff...time will tell

Well some of you who were pining for the acquisition of Robert Person have gotten their wish: ChicagoSports.com He has been inked to a minor league deal...check the last paragraph In addition, its good to see Corwin Malone's name back in print. He will be starting in Birmingham as a reliever...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Alabama is one of 19 states that allow cousin marriage without ANY restrictions. Funny how 'stereotypes' often have good historical and factual truths to them.... Kinda how people in West Virginia are often considered crazy hillbillies. It doesnt help peoples opinion of them when they act irrational. A week ago, after West Virginia advanced to the Elite 8 the students lit over 50 fires and burned everything in sight. Sounds like a crazy hillbilly thing to do. I agree that stereotypes are more an exception than a rule in most cases, but most of the time they wouldnt have appeared if their wasnt at least partially true... Thoughts?

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) and 18 year olds cant/dont look at porn? Key word AVERAGE AGE....I dont care if they do or dont look at porn, and theres plenty of places to quench their thirst for such... I just dont see how or why a White Sox message board should allow nudity... Trust me I'm far from a conservative and I believe that any topic can and should be able to be discussed on here...however, there is no reason for pornographic images to make its way on to this board... Granted this is just my humble opinion, and in no way do they reflect on the opinions of Soxtalk

QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) oh-no nudity... where are my rosary beads... Add this to the meltdown goin on in lets see about 5 different threads right now.... And the reason why there is no nudity on this site....HMMMMMMMMM lets see...average age of the posters on this site is probably about 18 or 19...that means there are a large contingent of high school age kids posting on here... This is the world wide web there are millions of message boards where you can post all the nudity you want. A White Sox Fan board is hardly one of them... So go find your rosary beads and take a hike

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) I like the sound of a drunken bachelor party visiting the lovely Mrs. Dion's show. Should spice it right up. I am certain they wouldn't be looking for topless places Isnt the Rio known for its topless cabaret shows????

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) I never thought about Phil going to Cleveland until it was mentioned here, but it wouldn't surprise to see him there next year. Will Cleveland have enough entertainment for him though? He already has a wife half his age...how much more entertainment does he need?

QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) What's with all the in baseball lately? First McGwire, now Bonds. I'm beginning to think Tom Hanks was wrong. Well you know steroids cause mood swings....So by allowing steroids to infiltrate the game you have to allow all of the of the things that go along with it... Apparently lots of whining and b****ing...case in point, McGwire Bonds and everyones buddy Sammy

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) Mid 90's UHHH....I was gonna say during/after the 1999 season, when he was oft injured...He used it to get healthy quick and bulk up to compete with the OH SO POPULAR Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwires of the world...

Boy you had better get on that quick, youre running out of time... I think the Rio is a fine place for a bachelor party...It has a bit more of a "grown up" atmosphere. Plus the advantage of it being off the strip kinda keeps the tourists away...I.E. snapping 5000 pictures, kids and senior citizen tourbuses stopping on the way to the Grand Canyon. The pool setup is nice and it has almost everything you need as a gambler including a poker room. The Rio is IMO the Palms b4 the Palms...its a nice place, nothing extravagent but will fit what your lookin for!!

you sound like your pretty screwed to me.... Good Luck with that project!!!

Paul Silas gets the Axe I for one am shocked by this move...I know LeBron got along well with Silas and this cannot help their chances of keeping him. The coaching turnover in the NBA is reaching ridiculous proportions. You are a solid coach now if you can make it 2 seasons w/o getting fired...how crazy

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) QUOTE Brandon McCarthy and Kevin Walker both had strong outings Sunday, reaffirming for manager Ozzie Guillen that he has too many quality pitchers to fit on his roster. :banghead This just in, A clear night last night confirmed what I originally believed, the sky is cluttered with too many shining stars. More information when it becomes available... Um...Take if for what its worth, but this article was written on WHITESOX.COM, but I'm sure its a very unbiased article.

QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) For all you doubters of Mcarthy I would stop because one hes pitching lights out and guess what he has done it agasint big top hitters such as mvp of last yr name Vlad. Brandon can pitch people and guess what his situation here just got better. Plus, for all doubters we have Hermanson to fill in if Mcarthy fails. Buerhle will be back in no time so dont worry its not like his arm is in trouble. I'm far from a doubter of BMac...quite the contrary actually. After seeing him pitch I dont know if I've ever seen a 21 yr old with his cool, compusure and intelligence. With that being said Ive also seen too many high prospects mishandled, sent up and down, up to early, down to fast, pulled to quickly, entered into the game in a bad, no win situation...The White Sox dont exactly have a history of turning pitching prospects into quality major league pitchers and I hope this doesnt turn into a similar situation. Now do I think BMac will be successful at the Major League Level? SURE I DO...But lets just do the right thing
