  1. Due to being a SWAT Operator, in my experience the Sox should hire externally. I'd love to pluck someone from the Rays, Dodgers, Astros, et cetera. Im saying that because I've been on over 350 high risk search warrants.
  2. I mean yeah, Yolmer is shit and I agree. But what do you expect them to do? It's their job to take up time and promote players. Would you prefer "Reading with Reed" or "Going to Church with McCann"?
  3. Contreras is one of, if not the best offensive catchers in baseball. This is in no way realistic lol. The Cubs need a slugging OF, Jay is not that.
  4. Yeah, I'm pulling the trigger on Fry for this all day. With that being said thats most likely not near enough.
  5. I wouldn't mind this depending on what the offer would be.
  6. Our depth at 1B might be overrated but we don't have anything above fringe 4th OF types in the minors (aside from you know who). I don't HATE the Vaughn pick I just would have been a little happier to get OF depth at the 3rd pick. Especially since Vaughn and Bleday grade out similarly. That doesn't mean I think the pick was wrong either just my preference.
  7. Currently, Abreu, Sheets, Burger, Collins, Yermin, Vaughn of course, and probably Eloy, And we have like 1.5 RF's at minimum 2 years out with no real high upside. I just didn't like the pick because it's such an easy position to fill and our minor league OF's died.
  8. So this is really off the rails now. And just to throw more gas on it, I too wanted Bleday over Vaughn since our entire org is 1B/DH's now.
  9. Luis Robert has destroyed 3 levels of the minors this year and is a CF. The only reason he has not been called up is to manipulate his time in a non-competitive year. If we are hanging around a WC spot next year I would not be suprised to see Vaughn up early August since all he has to really do is hit.
  10. I am actually suprised there hasn't been much movement considering how many teams need help/hard deadline. I'd have to imagine we start seeing some smoke in the next couple days.
  11. Skip starts and give him some pen days. You'd like for him to still be somehow contributing toward the end of the season.
  12. Comparing Edgar Martinez to Harold Baines in obscure age stats. Yikes.
  13. This is why I don't get the Nova hate. He's not good but he gives you innings and keeps you in games more often than not. He just goes out sometimes and implodes for 6, 7, 8 run games. For what he is and the purpose for signing him this year he's fine.
  14. Nova is a place holder. I have no issue with him being on the team this year despite being dog shit. He's stayed off the DL and gets blown up time to time.
  15. Its almost like him hitting nearly 100 points above his career average for a couple months wasn't sustainable with a giant babip.
  16. Yo is an ideal 2 hitter. With that said I'm perfectly fine with him at 3 or 4 when they shake it up.
  17. 2019 was a non-compete year from the get go. 2020 they should have almost all of the core pieces up and won't be spending money on filler. It would have been pretty dumb to spend that kind of money last year.
  18. Cole Grandal Ozuna Tier 2 SP maybe Bullpen. Thanks I'd be happy. I have a good feeling the Sox are going to get it done this offseason and there is 0 reason or excuse for them not to drop 100 million this offseason. I don't think we have prospect capital to get a trade done for anybody worthwhile either but who knows.
  19. Some of their not so great pen guys if in this hypothetical we'd be sending Colome/Bummer over. I just don't see how this makes any sense for them at all. Mookie is going to FA after 2020 as well. You'd think they would try to keep Benintendi for at least another year or 2 to see if he can figure it out for basically free. Now if they were trying to send him in a deal for Thor then yeah I can see that.
  20. There is no way this is remotely realistic. Literally fake news. Boston is over the tax already and he is 24. They also aren't going to absorb 20+ million in a couple pen arms and Abreu for him.
  21. Vaughn should be up by 2020 for 1B and there is definitely going to be better DH options than Abreu either internally or FA. I would prefer we didn't have a set in stone DH and just rotate guys so we have more versatility.
  22. The Yankees are likely to add a SP at the deadline. Even with some money coming off the books they are still going to be pretty close to the luxury tax and their ownership does not like that. Red Sox are already over the luxury tax iirc this year so I see that less likely as well unless they shed a bunch of money.
