It sounds like they're gonna get a pitcher with the first pick. I would think like last year they would try to grab a lefty. Ryan Webb or Bryan Magdaleno would work. If they take a player in the 2nd round I would think they would go for a speed bench guy. Cooper Bowman would be a great get if he were still available. Dasan Brown would be an interesting pick too.

They also have 4 pitchers on the 60 day DL they will eventually have to make a decision on. They could swing a Michael Busch-like trade but if they dfa someone the Sox are first in line.

When he plays I expect Robert to play well next year because he'll actually be motivated by something. Money. He has a $20M payday waiting for him. That said I still think the risk of injury is too great (just like it was for Moncada) and they should move on from him now. Don't make the same mistake twice.

They're not picking up his option so he's essentially on a 1 yr deal. If he gets hurt (again) in april or may they get nothing. They have to unload him now.

Projecting forward is the key but it's very difficult to do. It's not about what the player is now or what he was in the past. It's about what's the player going to be in one year, three years, five years. Mistakes are made when only looking backwards. Makeup is a huge part of projecting forward and that's what makes it so tricky and why the teams that truely drill down on the makeup are the ones who are most successful at developing players.
