  1. I was thinking about what a trade for Rice would look like. He's in almost the identical situation that Michael Busch was in last off season. The Cubs gave up 2 high upside 19 year olds to acquire Busch. LHP Jackson Farris and OF Zyhir Hope. Using that as a template I'd think the Sox would have to give up something like LHP Blake Larson and INF Jeral Perez. I'd make that deal in a second. Rice has a chance to be a high impact middle of the order run producer from the left side which is something this team desperately needs.
  2. Thank god that big bastard is out of the division. He was on a Mike Sweeney level all time Sox killer trajectory.
  3. They really want him to be the opening day SS. He was dealing with an off the field issue last season and he really impressed them with the way he grinded thru it then peformed in the AFL. They think he's ready to take off and I would agree.
  4. He commited to Tennessee he didn't opt out of the draft so he's still be eligible at 1-10. More importantly why am I getting emails when someone posts in this thread??
  5. Sure but not at this high a rate and not where a painful surgery and grueling recovery is required. The throw as hard as you can for as long as you can until you break mindset has to end and front offices have to stop treating pitchers like they're disposable.
  6. One thing we know for sure is Banny likes big bodied pitchers.
  7. If you're not posting shirtless videos of yourself on twitter throwing a baseball as hard as you can into a net are you really even trying??
  8. Three? They can't find anyone willing to offer up one legit player.
  9. It's a big off season for him and it certainly looks like he's putting in the work. I really like the adjustments he's made to his swing. Hopefully he can make a tweak to his approach and get a little more aggressive early in the count. If he can do that he's setting himself up to have a really good year.
  10. Holy s%*# if he stays like this he's going to have a monster season. Short to it and long thru it.
  11. Taylor doesn't have a very good all around game. He's not going to provide much value on defense or on the bases so all his upside is in the box but that is still pretty good upside because he can really hit. This draft is strong in HS position players and pretty good in college hitters so they will definitely get a good player at 1-10. I like Willits and Ebel on the HS side but the guy I'm most intrigued by is Aiva Arquette. I'm usually down on Oregon St guys because they're ridiculously overhyped but this dude is interesting as all hell. He's enormous (6'5" 220) and will be playing SS this spring. If he taps into his power and shows he can play an avg SS he could easily be a top 5 pick.
  12. The Orioles wouldn't give up Mayo and Bradfield and the Phillies wanted to wait on Burnes. The Red Sox stepped up though it's a little frustrating having to trade for Teel when he should have already been in the system. It's a really good deal by Getz and I hope there's a couple more on the way.
  13. A hitter is rule 5 eligible for a reason. He needs more development time. If you put him on a major league roster it's too difficult to thread the needle of getting him the AB's he needs to continue his development and protecting him from getting his s%*# pushed in. It's much easier with a pitcher because over the course of a season there are plenty of low leverage situations for him to get his work in. If they do take a hitter I think it will be a Cooper Bowman type whose development is pretty much over and maxes out as a utility type guy.
  14. It seems like every day a new team pops up who has interest in trading for Crochet.
